Course Title Descrip on Prerequisites and/or Required Equipment Highway Safety for Emergency Services 3 Hours FREE Friday Evening Building Construction & Ventilation Firefighters responds to a wide variety of incidents involving operations on, or near a highway. These operations pose special risks to personnel. This program includes the following: the need for advanced warning, apparatus positioning and placement, pros and cons of shutting down roadways, multi-agency communication, training and coordination, scene lighting, limiting time, personnel and apparatus on the scene, retro-reflective and florescent personal protective equipment, innovative fire apparatus safety features. Building Construction After completing this lesson, the student shall be able to recognize the various components of basic building construction, understand the effects of fire on common building materials, and identify the indications of imminent building collapse and construction hazards Ventilation All ventilation types will be addressed, The emphasis will be on instruction in Positive Pressure Ventilation. Class will define ventilation, List advantages of ventilation for rescue, attack, fire control, and suppression operations, List primary ventilation method used to prevent backdraft. building factors that aid in determining use of vertical/ horizontal ventilation. Special considerations associated with windowless buildings and basements. No Prerequisites Training provided by Idaho State Police The Art of Reading Smoke Often, smoke issuing from a building is the only clue available to predict fire behavior and the likelihood of a flashover or rapid fire spread. First-arriving officers, Incident Commanders, and Safety Officers MUST know how to rapidly read smoke this class explains the reading-smoke process Ladders & Structural Search, Victim Removal, Firefighter Survival Emphasis on ladder safety. Identifies types of ladders, Lists ladder safety rules, Demonstrate ladder lifts and carries, ladder placement, ladder raises, Proper climbing and working from ground ladders. Roof, attic and extension ladders will be used and provided. Next Will cover search and victim removal methods to use during structural search and rescue, including firefighter survival skills used during structural search and rescue. Extrication Hands-on field presentation and practice of vehicle stabilization, extrication techniques using a wide range of basic tools through power hydraulic extrication tools.

Course Title Descrip on Prerequisites and/or Required Equipment Destructive wildfires affect virtually every part of the U.S. Last year Idaho saw devastating fires where many homes were lost. Firewise Train-The-Trainer There are simple and often inexpensive ways to make homes safer from wildfire. This Train-The-Trainer class will provide you with a good understanding of wildfire hazards and mitigation strategies that homeowners can effectively use to lower the wildfire risk and losses to their homes. After this class your department will be able to perform home ignition zone hazard assessments and teach communities on how to become a Firewise Community. This class is tailored towards fire department Chiefs, Captains, prevention personnel and community planners. Wildland Arson The primary purpose of this course is to provide a consistent knowledge and skill base for the wildland fire origin and cause determination investigator along with collection of evidence. The concepts taught in this course will help you in performing at acceptable levels. Firefighter Essentials SCBA &Personal Protective Equipment Fire Behavior and Control Hose Streams Mayday SCBA Presents the components, functions and safety features of SCBA and PPE. Limitations of the equipment are also presented. Proper methods of using and caring for equipment are presented. Environments that require SCBA use are reviewed and procedures for donning, doffing, inspecting, maintaining SCBAs and changing SCBA cylinders are presented. Class will include an exercises utilizing the Clearwater Fire Academy Confidence Trailer. The Trailer can be configured in a variety of ways to simulate actual fire fighting conditions. Fire Behavior and Control Emphasis on fire behavior and the phases a fire passes through as it grows, Includes tactics to attack and extinguish fires. Hose Streams Cover the Application of water or foam streams and using different stream patterns in fire fighting and Properties of water and foam. Mayday Identifies when and how and who should call a Mayday. Each person in class will bring PPE and The SCBA unit that they will normally be using during an emergency and a spare bottle Prerequisites: None Required: Full Personal Protective equipment including SCBA. Fire Apparatus & Pump Maintenance Covers pump theory, pump component familiarization and operational checks, basic pump maintenance and fire scene Pumping procedures.

Course Title Descrip on Prerequisites and/or Required Equipment Rope Rescue Awareness This class is designed to give the student an awareness and basic skills for rope rescue at the low angle This class covers identification of equipment and hardware, rope construction, knot tying, and low angle evacuation RIT/Short Handed Fire Tactics This is a brand new class modeled after the RIT class. The focus in this class will be initial company operations with low to moderate staffing and is almost all handson. We know that staffing plays a role in the tactics we deploy. This class takes an in depth look at search techniques and how to strategically search with short staffing. The class will focus on the most utilized fire ground operations endured with low staffing levels. We will tie it all together with a self-survival module, most importantly how to recognize and prevent injury/death on the fire ground This class is offered to Officers and Interior Firefighters. Successful Completion of Firefighter Essentials Required Bring Full Personal Protective Equipment including SCBA and 1extra tank. Required STICO Strategy Tactics for Initial Company Officers (Hands on Training) Students should be in good physical condition. Designed to meet the needs of Company Officers responsible for managing the operations of one or more companies during structural firefighting operations. G-130 / G-190 Wildland Training for Structural Firefighters Classroom only 20 Hours Friday, The purpose of this class is to train Structural Firefighters in basic Wildland firefighting skills. Firefighters who successfully complete this course will be qualified to suppress wildfires while under supervision. Practical Exercise needed to receive certification
