Mr. Conboy stated that he believes that the Council owes the Recreation Commission an apology and questioned as to why Councilman Pettigano has not attended many of the recreation meetings. Mr. Conboy stated that this existing commission has done more than any previous recreation boards. Mr. Conboy stated that he would like to note that at a public Council meeting Joe Mulligan stated that the DPW was responsible for the infield sprinklers on Pine Street and the Little League infield. The recreation department was responsible for all other sprinklers on boro field. Mr. Conboy gave a brief synopsis of the formation of the Recreation Commission. Doug DeMatteo Mr. DeMatteo thanked the Commission for the information regarding the Drew DeMatteo award. A motion was made by Wally Nowosielecki to close the public portion of the meeting. Motion seconded by Sandy Balistrieri. YES X X X X X X X A motion was made by Myles Garvey to open the work portion of the meeting. Motion seconded by Bob Calabro. YES X X X X X X X Director s Report Soccer Scoreboard The Commission requested a meeting with Scott Karcz to look and see where the exact location for the soccer scoreboard can be placed. Upon reviewing the documents received by the Commissioners, the consensus was that the scoreboard looked to close to the baseball field. This item will be finalized at the May meeting. Romano Intrieri informed the Commission that the recreation van has been purchased and is being utilized. Romano that club soccer spring season has begun. The Memorial Day Tournament has 24 teams and will be held on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Community Day Romano stated that not many donations have been received to date. Work is being completed on Community Day which is scheduled for June 7 th.

P a g e 3 Recreation hours After a discussion on the attendance of the weekend hours, it was decided that the hours for the month of May will be: Saturday from 9:00am 4:00pm (if no members, rec will close at 3:00pm) and on Sunday from 12:00 5:00pm. The Main Gym Supervisor will keep a tally of the attendance for the month of May and the hours will be revisited at the May meeting. A motion was made by Brenda Huffman to accept the director s report. Motion seconded by Bob Calabro. New Business Bob Calabro stated that he was disappointed at the Council meeting with the Recreation Department that the agenda was not followed and that the recreation was not prepared to defend professional volunteers. Myles Garvey stated that he felt that Councilman Pettigano politicized the Board and all committee volunteers for the betterment of the recreation center. Myles felt that Councilman Pettigano was not qualified to be a Councilman and does not do his homework regarding the recreation commission. Rich DeLorenzo stated the Councilman Pettigano left out of his report, the status of what is happening with the Recreation Board. Rich stated that Councilman Pettigano made the remark that the existing Commission is doing an outstanding job and they would all be asked to be on the Advisory Board. Rich stated that it was stated that English Ave was promised to other organizations and it is the fate of the Board because they see things differently. Rich stated that Councilman Pettigano s voice about the disbanding the Recreation commission is all about money and English Ave. Wally Nowosielecki stated that it was obvious that meetings were being held in secret until the public meeting took place. This is the same agenda as was done in years past. Bike Riding Bob Burke stated that he will speak with Acting Chief Foligno about closing the Boulevard from Falmouth Ave to Washington Avenue for bike riding, etc. A motion was made by Brenda Huffman to reinstate bike riding starting Sundays in June 2014. June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Motion seconded by Rich DeLorenzo. A discussion will take place at the July meeting for further dates if this is a success. P a g e 4 Girls Softball Scoreboard Wally Nowosielecki stated that the scoreboard for softball is not working properly. The remote/controller is not working. After discussion, a motion was made by Wally Nowosielecki to have the girl s softball scoreboard repaired. Motion seconded by Bob Calabro. YES X X X X X A X Committee Reports Brenda Huffman Soccer bonfire was a success. Bob Burke requested Romano to give the Commission a report on the soccer field usage, how it is being divvied out and are other programs getting equal time. Romano will ask Donna to give the Commission a schedule of who has all fields with times and dates. Wally Nowosielecki Apologized to the Commission for not being able to attend the Council meeting due to his work schedule. Otherwise - Progress Bob Calabro Will try to find out when the Hockey party is scheduled so that Basketball can ask if they can be included in the same event. Bob requested to be involved in the decision as to where the soccer scoreboard will be going since it will affect baseball. Bob informed the Commission that the football sled is on boro field and needs to be moved so that it is not in the way for baseball, soccer and softball s playing area. Bob also stated that on numerous occasions when baseball and softball have games, soccer just starts playing. When the players are asked for permits, they state they are with Pete Scolaro. Bob feels that they are just using Pete s name and they have no permits or usage forms. Bob informed the Commission that there was an issue last Saturday with the lightning sensor not working. Romano will check into this. Bob informed the Commission of the article in the newspaper with regards to the Coyote sightings near Gilbert Ave and that this needs to be addressed. Bob Burke Bob spoke with the Recreation Director of Franklin Lakes and would like to schedule a day when the basketball recreation teams can play in Franklin Lakes and they can play in EP. Bob asked Romano if price quotes were received for the adjustable rims. Romano stated that the Recreation Department was having a difficult time locating this item. Bob Burke will look into finding a company that can change the rims. Myles Garvey Discussed the rebuilding of the field house. After a brief discussion, a motion was by made by Myles Garvey to obtain a bid to tear out and renovation of the Field House. The bid should include both the tear out and renovation. Motion seconded by Wally Nowosielecki.

P a g e 5 Rich DeLorenzo Asked Bob Burke is a post mortem meeting had taken place for basketball. Bob will have this meeting shortly. Rich stated that it would be great if a holiday tournament could be held and planned well in advance. Rich stated that soccer goals need to be put away after all practices and games and that the goals on Pine Street should be turned the opposite way and locked. Rich stated that it is not the responsibility of the baseball or softball programs to remove the soccer goals. Rich stated that the latch on the port o john near the field house is missing. Romano will contact the company and have this fixed. Basketball netting in Parks Rich stated that new netting needs to be installed at all the basketball courts in the parks within the town. Rich informed the Commission that the batting cages were renovated and would like to thank Kuiken Brothers, the Leto Family and Jersey Flooring for the volunteering and donations for the renovations. Bob Calabro asked for an update on the cameras for the senior center. Bob Burke asked Romano to get more quotes for the cameras for the May meeting. Bob Calabro asked Romano for an update on the Gilbert Ave location for Summer Camp. This was tabled to the May meeting when the Commission would like to see the alternative plans if Gilbert Ave is unavailable for summer camp. A motion was made by Myles Garvey to close the work portion of the meeting. Motion seconded by Brenda Huffman.
