12 th 21 st August 2010 Munich/Unterföhring, 2010 World Men s Championships: Bulletin 1 Dear WTBA Federations, For the first time since 1960 and therefore exactly 50 years later, will be the host of World Championships in bowling for adults again in 2010. It is with great pleasure that the German Bowling Federation welcomes all the World Tenpin Bowling Association member federations to this event. The World Men Championships 2010 will be held at Dream-Bowl Palace, which has just recently been opened. Since December 2009, this brand new centre in Unterföhring near Munich is the largest and most modern bowling centre in Europe with 52 lanes. Dream-Bowl Palace will be the host of several events in 2010. Some of them have been scheduled especially as a preparation for the World Men Championships. Official Hotels You may choose one of the official hotels, both with a restaurant, a bar, a wellness area, WLAN and sufficient parking facilities (subject to extra charges). The following room rates will apply in both hotels: Single 95,- EUR Double 120,- EUR (incl. breakfast) All reservations must be made through the Host Tournament Committee with Form B and have to be pre-paid to the Host Tournament Committee by 30 th June 2010. Please understand that the special room rates will not be available for reservations made directly at the hotels and that we can not provide a shuttle service from/to the airport or from/to Dream-Bowl Palace for federations having decided to stay in any other hotel. Dream-Bowl Palace The Centre Dream-Bowl Palace with 52 Brunswick lanes has just recently been opened in Unterföhring, adjacent to the north-eastern part of the town of Munich. It has been built according to up-to-date standards, especially including air-conditioning and humidity control for the comfort of the players, coaches and spectators as well as for the best possible playing conditions. The centre has three floors with a total floor space of approx. 8,000 square meters, an outside terrace and an additional parking area for 220 vehicles. Elevators connect all floors with the parking area. The first floor with approx. 5,000 square meters covers all bowling lanes and a large area for spectators as well as the bowling bistro. Tribunes will be installed on this floor for the WMC 2010. A restaurant and conference rooms are situated on the second floor, while the pro shop is available on the third floor. All participating federations will be given more information on the different areas in the Centre to be used during the Championships upon arrival. 12 th 21 st August 2010 Munich/Unterföhring, 4. Munich Area The city of Munich is the third largest town in with 1.3 million inhabitants, offering a large variety of tourist attractions. It has an international airport (No. 7 in Europe) with 35 million passengers in 2008 and direct connections to 230 destinations worldwide. Unterföhring is a small suburb of Munich with 9,000 inhabitants, being the home of several German television stations and insurance companies as well as the home of Dream-Bowl Palace and the German Bowling Federation for a few months now. The weather in August is usually quite warm and humid around 25 C with a few rainfalls from time to time. Public transportation is available throughout the whole city of Munich and its suburbs with more than 100 Underground and Railway stations next to every Place of Interest. Services are available all day long. All delegations will receive an information package upon arrival, containing useful material for your stay in Munich and Unterföhring. - 9 -

It will be continuously be updated with all information concerning the Championships. Please watch out for updated information at the website, as no further bulletins will be distributed. Online Scoring will be available for all events during the WMC 2010 at the official website. Press Room One meeting room at Dream-Bowl Palace will be reserved as a working media room, providing high-speed access to printers and to the internet free of charge for all credentialed press officials. Please understand that players, coaches and team managers may not be allowed to use the press facilities unless they are working to provide updates to press in their home countries and have been credentialed. An interview area will be available outside of the press room. This area shall be used for press conferences after the conclusion of each discipline and whenever else needed. Squad leaders and medal winners will have to show up at the interview area within 15 minutes after the end of any squad or medal presentation. Results Teams, federations and press will be provided with standings after each game as well as with complete standings after each squad. Standings will be available at various screens at Dream-Bowl Palace both in the spectators area and in the players area. In addition, all results will be published at the official website immediately. Shuttles (Airport, Hotels, Bowling Centre) All delegations will be met at Munich International Airport upon arrival and will be transported to their hotel. A similar delivery service will be provided for departures. Federations must provide their flight arrival and departure times with Form C to make this service work properly. A shuttle bus service between the official hotels and Dream-Bowl Palace will be provided to all players, coaches, officials and supporters with an official entry. Busses will circulate every 60 minutes on 10 th and 11 th August and every 30 minutes from 12 th to 21 st August 2010. In addition, there will be mini busses available for various special situations. Please understand that we can not provide airport-pick-up or shuttle services for teams arriving before 9 th August. Equipment storage Bowling equipment can be stored in a designated area at Dream-Bowl Palace to be reached via elevator. - 11 -
12 th 21 st August 2010 Munich/Unterföhring, Farewell Banquet The farewell banquet will be held on 21 st August 2010 from 20.00 o clock at Dream-Bowl Palace with a variety of delicious buffets and complimentary beverages. Tickets for the Farewell Banquet will be charged with 60,- EUR (subject to availability), but the banquet will be complimentary for all players and members of the official delegations with a valid entry. Unofficial Practice Lanes will be available for unofficial practice on 10 th and 11 th August 2010 from 10.00 o clock. The unofficial practice will have two different patterns per pair of lanes, but these patterns will not be the official Championship patterns. Squads for unofficial practice will be 2 hours each and will be available at 10.00 / 13.00 / 16.00 o clock on both days. The fee is 50,- EUR per pair of lanes and squad to be paid in cash only directly to Dream-Bowl Palace on site. Each federation may have a maximum of two pairs of lanes in every squad, but teams may bowl more than one practice squad if they choose to do so. Spots for the unofficial practice will be available on a first come, first served basis. Please submit your reservations for the unofficial practice directly to Dream-Bowl Palace at palace@dreambowl.de. Pre-registrations can be made until 31 st July 2010. After that date, signing up for the unofficial practice will be possible on site only. Check-In for the unofficial practice will start 1 hour before every squad. Please show up in time to avoid your spot being given to another federation. - 12 -
12 th 21 st August 2010 Munich/Unterföhring, 7. Fees Delegations Entry Fee The WMC 2010 entry fee is 200,- EUR per person for all players, coaches and officials as members of the official delegation. These fees include the delegation fee to be paid to WTBA and cover participation, transportation, entrance to Dream-Bowl Palace and the Farewell Banquet. Supporters Entry Fee The entry fee for supporters, additional coaches and officials more than mentioned above is 140,- EUR per person. These fees cover participation, transportation, entrance to Dream- Bowl Palace and the Farewell Banquet. Press officials Unless they have any duties at WMC 2010 related to a team or federation, there will be no entry fee for credentialed press officials except for participation in the Farewell Banquet. Unofficial practice Fees for the unofficial practice shall be paid directly to Dream-Bowl Palace as stated in section 6. Facilities / Services. Hotel Fees Please remember that the hotels fees have to be paid to the Host Tournament Committee as stated in section 2. Official Hotels. WMC 2010 Pass Supporters without a valid entry as mentioned above may choose a WMC 2010 Daily Pass at 5,- EUR per person a day or a WMC 2010 Championship Pass at 15,- EUR per person for access to Dream-Bowl Palace from 13 th to 21 st August 2010 (subject to availability). Pre-Payment of Fees All fees must be pre-paid. Please return this form even if you do not want to participate in the WMC 2010. Federations sending the Entry Form later than 31 st May 2010 will not be able to participate in the World Men Championships 2010. Form B: Hotel form The deadline for Form B is 31 st May 2010.
