To register for this event and purchase tickets click here UBS Company Visit On November 19, 2014 representatives from UBS Realty Investors in Hartford, CT visited to present to UConn students. Prior to the presentation, members of the Real Estate Society had the opportunity to network with the company over dinner. UBS has over $67 billion in real estate assets under management with over 1700 properties of various classes in 28 countries. Julie Pierro presented the marketing

aspects of UBS Realty Investors. Tiffany Gherlone and Josh Rome of Research and Strategy explained the significance of their research in the market selections for the company. Steve Guyette and Matt McCandless of Acquisitions presented the acquisitions process through a few recent invested examples. Franny Ferry explained the accounting and reporting process. We thank UBS for taking the time to join us for the evening. 2014 Cornell Real Estate Competition A team of real estate students from the University of Connecticut earned third place in a prestigious international case competition on November 4 in New York City, sponsored by Cornell University. The UConn team consisted of William Bartol, Drew Harney, Austin Smyth, Kristine Victor and Patrick Nista. Francesca Michel was the alternate. John Glascock, director of the Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies, said that the UConn students gave an excellent presentation and secured the honor despite fierce global competition from top-rated schools, including McGill, University of Sydney, Cornell, Brown and NYU. To read more about the competition click here Habitat for Humanity On November 8, 2014 members of the Real Estate Society volunteered their time in Bristol, Connecticut to work with Habitat for Humanity. Students helped sand and paint newly constructed homes for individuals who would not be able to afford a home without the assistance of Habitat for Humanity and their donors. The students said it was a rewarding and enjoyable experience and look forward to working with the organization in the future.

Internship/Job Placement Looking for an intern or permanent hire? The Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies has assembled resumes of internship candidates and graduating majors in Real Estate as well as other allied disciplines. The real estate students are completing what many consider to be one of the best academic real estate programs in the country. As part of a new endeavor, we are offering the Resume Book accessible online. You are welcome to register your company's profile on the system. Upon completion, you will receive an email confirming your registration. For more information about the process, please call Debbie Philips at (860) 486-3227 or email your request to recenter@business.uconn.edu. We enthusiastically endorse these trained and skilled young people in their pursuit of careers in real estate. Please feel free to contact the individual students directly or if you prefer, interviews can be arranged through the Real Estate Center. If you require further information about these students or about our program, please call Debbie Philips at (860) 486-3227. Special Recognition The Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company (CATIC) has presented a seminar for UConn students on Friday, October 17, 2014. The seminar regarding Commercial Real Estate Closings was presented by CATIC representatives at their offices in Rocky Hill, CT from 10 am to noon. Following the seminar, the UConn real estate students were invited to join members of the CATIC staff and CATIC

Foundation for a luncheon at the Tournament Players Club River Highlands in Cromwell, CT. We would like to thank Bruce Zawodniak, CATIC Title Counsel, for coordinating the event. The CATIC Foundation is a major contributor to the Center for Real Estate and supports activities for real estate students including events such as this seminar. We appreciate everything that the CATIC Foundation does to help our students.
