We help athletes prepare for their next big competition in the job market. Adecco Group has partnered with the United States Olympic Committee to develop the Athlete Career Program. The program supports Olympic and Paralympic athletes by providing career services during and after their athletic careers. Personal career coaching Just as athletes rely on their coaches for guidance and advice when training for a competition, an Adecco Group career coach can help athletes craft a winning game plan for their careers by: Assessing career options Creating/revamping resumes Conducting a personalized job search Preparing for interviews Mapping career path strategies Group seminar training We offer seminars that give athletes the insight they need to make the most out of their careers on topics such as: Creating your game plan (Assessment) Entering the competition (Resume writing) Building your team (Networking) Taking the lead (Entrepreneur training) Preparing for a career in a different arena (Interviewing) Job placement Through the Athlete Career Program, Adecco Group works with our network of clients to assist athletes in finding full-time, part-time and internship opportunities. We also offer the Team USA Career Program, which matches U.S. National Team athletes with USOC sponsors. Team USA Career Program participants have access to Adecco Group s comprehensive benefits package, including group medical coverage, 401(k), free skills training and more! For more information about the Athlete Career Program, please contact Angel Bovee at angelique.bovee@adeccona.com. Whether you re still training and competing or are retired from sport, it s always good to get connected with an Adecco Group career coach as part of the Athlete Career Program. Athletes are used to having coaches in sport, so why would athletes career preparation and performance be any different? By investing the time with a career coach today, athletes at all stages of their sports career can plan for a smoother career transition when the time comes. Cindy Stinger, United States women s handball team at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympics adeccogroupna.com 2011 Adecco
FAQ 1. What are the Athlete Career Program and the Team USA Career Program? In response to the growing need for career-related programs and services among America s elite athletes, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and its official Career Management Services Sponsor, Adecco Group, have created the Athlete Career Program. The USOC and Adecco Group understand that an elite athlete s priority is to focus on competing in their sport. However, we also know that there comes a point in life when even the most accomplished athletes need to turn their attention to outside of their arenas. By utilizing the Athlete Career Program, U.S. Olympians, Paralympians, coaches and Hopefuls can accomplish two main objectives: 1. Alleviate career or job-related concerns outside of the field of play while competing 2. Prepare for the inevitable transition from sport Through the Athlete Career Program, athletes can receive personalized career management resources and services including the following: Personal career coaching Group seminar training Job placement assistance Self assessments Resume building Career planning Interviewing skills Networking skills Creating your game plan (Assessment) Entering the competition (Resume writing) Building your team (Networking) Taking the lead (Entrepreneur training) Preparing for a career in a different arena (Interviewing) Adecco Group staffing services including: Part-time employment Full-time employment Internships Job shadowing
FAQ Team USA Career Program The USOC and Adecco Group also administrate the Team USA Career Program. The Team USA Career Program is exclusive to National Team athletes. In addition to the services included in the Athlete Career Program, the Team USA Career Program provides employment opportunities at participating USOC sponsor companies throughout the county. Regardless of which program you are eligible for, we encourage all participants to determine their career aspirations and then work closely with a career coach to fulfill their goals. Like training for a competition, you will get more out of these programs if you put more effort into them. 2. What are the eligibility requirements for the Athlete Career Program & Team USA Career Program? What type of job placement am I eligible for? Athlete Career Program Participants must be an elite athlete. An elite athlete: Has been on the Olympic or Paralympic Team Has been on a Pan Am, World Championship or National Team within the last eight years Has received USOC funding within the last five years Has been in a resident athlete program and/or has attended a camp at an Olympic Training Center within the last four years Additional athletes may be allowed into the program at the discretion of program administrators, should the budget permit Both current and retired Olympians and Paralympians are eligible for job placement services through Adecco Group offices around the country Team USA Career Program Athletes must: Be currently training and competing in Olympic and Paralympic events/disciplines Be a member of a senior level U.S. National Team (or the equivalent, if the athlete s sport does not have a National Team) National Team athletes are eligible for placement assistance through select USOC sponsor companies 3. How do I register? Follow the instructions below to complete the Athlete Career Program registration: Go to Click on the Resources tab Click on TeamUSAnet Select the USOC Athlete Career Program link (middle of the page) Once on the USOC Athlete Career Program webpage, scroll to the bottom to find the link to ACP Registration Form Upon completing the registration, follow the steps on the bottom of the registration to submit your form
FAQ 4. What is the process for participating in the Athlete Career Program? All athletes interested in participating in the Athlete Career Program must complete a registration form by completing the steps outlined in the answer to question 3. After registration, a career coach will contact the athlete within 5-8 business days and schedule an introductory meeting. At that point, the length of time spent with a career coach will depend on the individual athlete. Once both parties mutually agree that the athlete is ready for work, the athlete will be referred back to the Athlete Career Program Athlete Liaison. 5. Who is the Athlete Liaison and what is their role in this program? The Athlete Liaison s job responsibilities include: Helping eligible athletes register for the Athlete Career Program and Team USA Career Program Connecting athletes with career coaches Assisting with job placement services Scheduling career management seminars Screening athletes prior to connecting with USOC sponsor companies Completing Adecco Group tasks, including testing skill sets, reference checks and matching athletes to job listings 6. Are there any costs for athletes who participate in the program? No. The USOC, Adecco Group and USOC partners cover all costs. 7. If I am traveling extensively can I still work with a career coach? Yes. All work done with a career coach is done via , WebEx or by telephone. 8. Do I meet my career coach in person? No. All work with a career coach will be done via , WebEx or by telephone. 9. I don t know what I want to do when I retire from sport. Can a career coach help me? Yes. Your career coach will help you assess and determine your skill set, interests and values, and narrow down what type of industry would best fit you. 10. I don t have a resume. Will a career coach help me create one? Yes. Your career coach can help you construct a resume that best identifies the skills and values you can bring to a company based on your athletic and professional experience. 11. I currently live outside the country and play professionally. Can I still participate in the Athlete Career Program or Team USA Career Program? Many countries around the world have also implemented an Athlete Career Program and may have career coaches available locally. However, if no such program exists, you are still eligible to work with a career coach here in the United States.
FAQ 12. What additional information can you share about the Team USA Career Program? The USOC has been working diligently since 2009 to create a program to replace the Olympic Job Opportunities Program (OJOP). While the OJOP helped athletes earn an income, the Team USA Career Program is a more comprehensive initiative designed to better serve athletes during their athletic careers and after they retire. Eligible athletes may be provided employment opportunities that are part-time and flexible in schedule. They may also be offered extended and permanent opportunities. Here are some additional details about the program. All athletes in the Team USA Career Program will be paid the same hourly rate of $14 per hour. A basic health benefits package will be paid for by the employer and administered by Adecco Group Adecco Group will manage all administrative services related to employment While qualified athletes will work at a USOC sponsor company, they will actually be temporary employees of Adecco Group To apply for a Team USA Career Program position with a USOC sponsor, an athlete must be endorsed by their National Governing Body & USOC. Once an athlete is endorsed they will begin work with a personal career coach from Adecco Group. Please note, a job in the Team USA Career Program is NOT guaranteed. 13. Is there a minimum or maximum number of hours I am required to work in the Team USA Career Program? Athletes will work between hours per week depending on the sponsor company. 14. Am I guaranteed employment by participating in the Athlete Career Program or Team USA Career Program? Participation in the Athlete Career Program does not guarantee that you will obtain a job. However, these programs will provide you the tools and resources you need to assist you in your job search. Do not rely solely on the programs for employment. Pursue every avenue possible to better increase your chances of finding employment. For more information on these questions or any others you may have, please call the Athlete Career Program Hotline at x1. adeccogroupna.com 2011 Adecco

Personal career coaching Group seminar training Job placement assistance Just as athletes have a personal coach in sport, an Adecco Group career coach can assist them with the following: Assessing career options Creating/revamping a strong resume Conducting a personalized job search Preparing for interviews Mapping career path strategies My experience with the career coach from Adecco Group proved to be a great first step to producing thoughts and plans that I should be actively pursuing to assure my success in career transition. The resources provided helped me to articulate my strengths and focus on my weaknesses in evaluating my transition path. Tom Hoff, 2000 and 2004 U.S. Olympian and 2008 U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist and Team Captain Athletes can join teammates in attending seminars on the following topics: Creating your game plan (Career assessment) Entering the competition (Resume building) Building your team (Networking) Taking the lead (Entrepreneurship) Preparing for a career in a different arena (Interviewing) Thank you so much for taking the time to present on networking. Throughout our weekend of sports activities, the staff, coaches and I reinforced topics from your session, lacing together the purpose and benefits of networking. Thank you for impacting the lives of 20 student athletes from the Cleveland Sight Center and the Junior Blind of America. Mark A. Lucas, M.S., Executive Director, U.S. Association of Blind Athletes Through the Athlete Career Program, Adecco Group works with their network of clients to assist athletes in finding full-time, part-time and internship opportunities. We also offer the Team USA Career Program, which matches U.S. National Team athletes with employment opportunities and insurance coverage with participating USOC sponsors. Everyone at Adecco Group and the USOC gave me the confidence to handle my job search properly. I feel better equipped for my future. The biggest thing I was able to draw from my experience was the confidence going into interviews and handling tough questions. The preparation that I received from the ACP and its partners is something that I will take with me the rest of my life. I would definitely recommend the ACP to other athletes. I think it is a great program that has a lot of resources. Keeth Smart, 2004 U.S. Olympian and 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist
