Stackhouse Misunderstanding Race 1 laurels function centre fillies maiden plate - 1100 metres: Last Dance stood flat footed, then shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of Pirellina turning that filly in. Pirellina bumped on the hindquarters when leaving the barriers and turned in. Shifted in abruptly on straightening away from Coral Rose and became momentarily unbalanced. Hellava Babe slow to begin. Intrices Reward rider D. Stackhouse reported that the filly travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, did not respond to his riding when under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the ensuing days. Flying Frenchy raced wide without cover. Zero Patience began awkwardly. Approaching the 200 metres commenced to lay in, then shifted out and had to be steadied from the heels of Flying Frenchy until gaining a clear run inside the final 100 metres. Fays Joy rider B. Werner was reprimanded for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres.
Following the running of this race Stewards upgraded the track to Good 3 at 1.03 p.m. retrospective to Race 1. Race 2 ladbrokes odds boost maiden plate - 1400 metres: The start of the race was delayed approximately four minutes to avoid a clash with a race being ran at Geelong. Catas Ruby J. Pallot was fined $30 for using Club colours on the gelding. Murphys Corner stood awkwardly in the barriers and as the gates were released, began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up when unable to obtain a clear run between the 500 metres until the 300 metres. Distant Sky when being restrained near the 1200 metres, got is head up on a number of occasions. Dineamic Lad raced wide without cover. Bartender man raced wide without cover. Shes Offski rider N. Callow reported that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, due to the slow tempo and when the field sprinted from the 500 metres, he was left flat-footed and his mount did not respond to his riding in the straight. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Simple Solution when questioned regarding the tactics, rider B. Thompson reported that due to the step up in distance and after beginning well today, the mare settled in the lead at a slow tempo. Race 3 xmas races thurs 22 nd dec bm70 handicap - 1200 metres: Uncanny Effort pulled a shoe after arriving on course and slipped over in the swabbing box. Underwent a veterinary examination and passed fit to race. Bumped at the start. Rider N. Callow reported that after beginning well the gelding then raced keenly in the early and middle stages and as a result settled more forward than expected. He added that Uncanny Effort travelled well into the straight, however, commenced to give ground over the final 200 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have pulled up with no obvious abnormalities, however, developed thumps some time later. Ballinaclash began awkwardly. Mr Optimistic slow to begin. When laying in passing the 100 metres, was hampered when carried out by Izenashark, which shifted out under pressure. Perazzi began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with Uncanny Effort. Izenashark raced wide without cover.
Stride Out approaching the 100 metres shifted to the inside of Uncanny Effort which commenced to give ground, into a tight run between that gelding and Olivias Gold. Shortly after approaching the 50 metres, was steadied when that run became tight due to Uncanny Effort shifting in slightly under pressure and as a result was not fully tested over the concluding stages. Race 4 nuturf bm58 handicap - 1100 metres: As the horses were being loaded into the barriers, My Survivor pulled a plate. As a result, all horses were then removed from the barriers and the start of the race was delayed for approximately 7 minutes to have the plate refitted to My Survivor. My Survivor vetted after having to be replated at the barriers and passed suitable to race. Raced wide without cover. Layed in under pressure in the straight. Autumn Time slow to begin. Nina Rules slow to begin. Lonhwan began awkwardly and was then brushed by Presumptuous. Treaty Of Paris raced wide without cover. Spiel Spinner near the 700 metres got its head up when being restrained from the heels of Miss Procyon. Believing rider M. Allen could offer no explanation for the geldings poor performance. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Race 5 better solar bm58 handicap - 2200 metres: Time To Sail had been restless in its barrier stall and began awkwardly. Amortise commenced awkwardly. When over racing at the winning post on the first occasion got its head up when being steadied from the heels of Skyfire (A. Creighton) which shifted in. A. Creighton was severely reprimanded and notified that he must be sure he is clear when shifting ground. Amortise continued to race with its head up for some distance thereafter. Raced wide without cover from the 1500 metres eventually striding around the field to take up a position outside the leader near the 1100 metres. Marjessie knuckled on leaving the barriers. Trevor due to the slow tempo of the race, shifted from behind the leaders and improved around the field near the 1700 metres to take up the lead. Skyfire wide without cover from the 800 metres. Gift From Heaven after passing the 300 metres was inconvenienced when tightened for room between Supaconi and Marjessie, which shifted in slightly.
Shampion over the concluding stages was unable to be ridden out fully due to racing close to the heels of Skyfire. Supaconi rider N. Callow could offer no explanation for the geldings performance. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Prospector app. B. Thompson was fined $300 for using his whip on eleven occasions prior to the 100 metres. Race 6 newry fencing contractors bm64 handicap - 1500 metres: The start of the race was delayed approximately three minutes to avoid a clash with Sunshine Coast races. Doctors Mistress after receiving telephone call from trainer M. Laurie who advised he had failed to withdraw the mare by the prescribed time, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of Doctors Mistress at 8.49 a.m. M. Laurie was fined $200. Chadra Boy began awkwardly. Gervais after beginning well from a good barrier took up a more forward position. La Consolidata commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. When questioned app. P. Pilley explained that he was instructed to try and have the mare settle just behind the speed as its normal racing pattern, however after not beginning well rather than use his mount too much at that point to obtain a forward position, he elected to restrain to find cover towards the rear of the field. Hung out rounding the home turn. Rakitiki raced keenly in the lead. Big Quid rider J. Bayliss reported that the gelding did not travel well in the early stages and was of the view that Big Quid would be better suited with blinkers added to its racing gear. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. Race 7 heron todd white bm58 handicap - 1400 metres: Hard To Kiss slow to begin. Caruselle checked near the 1200 metres and became unbalanced. Mr Opurrtunist wide without cover. Near the 350 metres inconvenienced when carried out by Magnyte that shifted out under pressure. Thetford Road hampered near the 1200 metres. Gonstead hampered near the 1200 metres. Candeo rider A. Creighton pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the careless riding being that near the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Magnyte resulting in that mare being carried in across
the running of Caruselle which had to be checked to avoid heels, and causing tightening to Thetford Road and Gonstead which were racing to Caruselles inside. A. Creighton had his permit to ride suspended for a period to commence midnight December 6, 2016 and to expire midnight December 16, 2016 a total of 13 meetings (5 city 8 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, that the carelessness qualified for the lower end of the high range, and his record in this area. Caserta reported that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, did not respond to his riding in the straight.
