Welcome Hello, my name is Derek Miller. I created this simple little system a couple of years ago and it has provided me with a nice bit of profit since. It averages just less than 1 bet a day and it takes just a couple of minutes to find the selections. So it's a lovely little addition to any portfolio. It's a simple little system based on the fact that French bred horses perform poorly in NH races in the UK (specifically NHF and hurdles). Results since 2008 (and the introduction of BSP). Year Bets Winners Strike Rate Profit/Loss Cum P/L 2008 282 220 78.01% 28.96 28.96 2009 341 254 74.49% 40.85 69.81 2010 381 276 72.44% -9.77 60.04 2011 376 285 75.80% 62.75 122.76 2012 338 247 73.08% 41.46 164.25 2013 346 263 76.01% 43.53 207.78 2014 338 252 74.56% 34.92 242.7 (All results are recorded to BSP with 5% commission deducted.) I'll go over the rules in the next section.
The System Rules 1. The race must be a NHF or a Hurdles race. 2. The horse must be French bred. 3. The number of days since the horse last run must be 90 days or fewer (including first time out runners). 4. Lay to a maximum price of 10 on Betfair. The next rule is just for hurdle races. 5. Horse must have finished in the top 2 last time out. Please note: The system is profitable without that fifth rule but I personally use it because it cuts down the number of selections and really pushes up the ROI. The easiest way to find the selections is by using the Sporting Life website (http://www.sportinglife.com). Once on the website just click on 'Racing' and then on 'Racecards'. This will list the meetings occurring that day. We are only interested in the meetings that are NHF or Hurdles races. So we just take a look at the race title and if it contains the word 'Hurdle' or 'NH Flat Race' the race qualifies. For example in the following meeting at Warwick...
there are 4 races that qualify; 13:50, 14:50, 15:20 and 16:20. Click on the race title to bring up that race's racecard. An example of how it will look is... There are a couple of things we need to look out for and I've underlined in red
where these can be found. Firstly we are only interested in French horses and so we are looking for the letters (FR) after the name. In the above race card Amidon is French so is a potential selection. We are only only interested in horses that have raced 90 or fewer days ago. This is the number after the horse's name and in the above example Amidon last ran 18 days ago and so passes this rule. If this was a NHF race Amidon would be a selection and we would head over to Betfair to see if it passed the odds rule. In fact this is a hurdles race so we would need to check the final rule; the finishing position last time out. This can be found in the form column and is simply the last digit on the right. So in the above example Amidon came 2 nd and so passes this rule as well and is a potential selection depending on the odds. As you can see it's a very quick process and will only take you a couple of minutes a day to find your selections. A quick note on the odds rule. It's actually profitable to lay all the potential selections no matter the price. But I personally don't like to lay higher than 10.0. You may be happy laying at higher odds and that's fine. Or you may feel 10.0 is too high for you and you may want to set your own lower limit. Just remember, the lower you set the price limit the fewer bets you'll place and the lower your profits will be.
Staking, odds etc. You should set aside a betting bank of 100 points for this system. The starting stakes are 1 point (i.e. 1% of the starting bank). The stakes then double when the bank has trebled. So if you start with a 100 bank the stakes will increase to 2 when the bank has grown to 300. If you start with a 500 bank the starting stake will be 5. The stakes will increase to 10 when the bank has grown to 1,500. This staking plan is very safe and conservative and the bank will not be in danger of being lost. And as the bank grows the stakes become a smaller and smaller percentage of the overall bank which adds stability. Laying is highly volatile which is one of the reasons why most punters fail to make it pay long term. (It's not uncommon for a bank to drop by 50% when laying). Do not be tempted to increase the stakes. Increasing the stakes will put the bank at risk. Please follow the system using the guidelines set out in this manual. If you do you'll see some excellent profits in the coming years. Thanks for reading, Derek Miller The Laying Expert
