Now in my 2 nd year as Fleet Captain, I was able to build upon what I learned from last season and make improvements to the position. I feel that we have begun to weed out some of the bugs and kinks in the regatta management program. The software developer has improved the program using input received from many of our members. I feel there are still improvements to be made in order for the club to run more smoothly, however, we are off to a great start. I am glad to see many old and new racers out on the race course this year. I would like to see if our current membership can encourage non-member boats to join us on our racing events. You do not have to be veteran of sailboat racing to join us on the course. We have different levels of racing in each division, so you can usually find a few boats that you can match up well with on any given day. We had some great conditions for most of our races, but none of this would have mattered if it wasn t for our membership stepping up and helping out as race committee. I would also like to thank all of the crews that assisted the PRO s on the Melrose throughout the season. Since LHYC is a paper club, we maintain a strong and vibrant organization only from the actions and efforts of its membership. LHYC is one of the best resources for sailboat racing in the Huntington LHYC s special trophy winners: Bay area. In this job, I have learned that success can only happen with group effort, determination and compromise (and of course a little wind and sun). Thanks for allowing me to be your Fleet Captain for the last two years.
North Charity Cup Best overall performance from a yacht in various charity races. A special thank you to our 2009 premiere sponsors: Huntington Bay Boat of the Year Best overall performance from a yacht in 11 Huntington Bay events. Renegade Trophy The Renegade Trophy is awarded annually to an outstanding crew member of a LHYC yacht. The award is intended to encourage crewing by acknowledging the contribution of crew members in yacht racing. The winner is decided by the Flag Officers and Directors based on nomination letters presented to them by LHYC skippers. Criteria for nomination are: 1- Outstanding crew member loyalty and contribution for a season (the crew member must have sailed in 50% of all LHYC races held that year), 2- Outstanding crew member loyalty and contribution over several years, 3 - One individual event, so extraordinary, that it deserves recognition.
