MCHS CHEER TRYOUT 2017-2018 MANDATORY DATES Keep this sheet for your planning needs Tuesday, March 7 th Parent and student meeting 7:00pm, MCHS ** A parent or guardian must be present in order for student to participate in tryouts Wednesday, March 15 th - Tryout packets, including teacher evaluations are due to The MCHS Front Office You may leave at the front desk to be placed in the Cheer Mailbox. Packets will be accepted until 3:30pm on the 15 th. Packets may be turned in anytime prior to March 15 th. No packets will be accepted after the March 15 th deadline. March 20-24 th - Please arrive between 3:15-3:30pm to stretch and check in. Those arriving after 3:30 will not be permitted to tryout! No exceptions! First cuts will take place on March 21 st. Final Tryout will be March 24 th. No parents are permitted at the tryout at anytime. No video taping, no cell phones! Tryout numbers will be assigned each day. Friday, March 24 th Costa Cheer Welcome Party following tryouts. Saturday, March 25 th Costa Cheer Team Building Activity Wednesday, April 5 th - Parent only meeting 7:00pm. This meeting is MANDATORY Please bring a pen since we will be reviewing some paperwork/fitting info. Sunday, May 21 st Tour de Pier Community Service Appearance 8:00am-2:00pm TBD Mandatory uniform fittings will take place after school 2:00pm-5:00pm in The Cheer Room 64. Summer Commitment Attendance is required (if other commitments interrupt the dates below, please note on cheer tryout application). Summer practice does not conflict with summer school. Cheerleading Tryout Agreement My child, has my permission to tryout to be a cheerleader at Mira Costa High School. I understand that he/she must abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Coaches of Mira Costa High School Cheerleading and be present for all practices, games & performances. I have read the rules and regulations and understand that the violation of any of these rules may lead to temporary or permanent suspension from the squad. I understand that all forms attached must be completed by 3:30pm March 15 th and delivered to the MCHS Front Office, or my child will not be permitted to tryout. I understand that my child must attend all tryout sessions and all practices (unless excused by the coach in advance) or my child will not be considered for a cheerleading position. If my child is not checked in by 3:30pm he/she will be disqualified from tryouts. I understand that parents are not permitted in the gym during the clinic or tryout and that video taping or entering the gym will lead to disqualification. I understand that my child will be evaluated by professional, qualified judges and we agree to abide by the decision of the judges. I understand that my child s scores will remain confidential at Mira Costa High School. I understand all costs involved as stated in the rules and regulations. I understand by the very nature of the activity, cheerleading and gymnastics carry a risk of physical injury. No matter how careful the participant and coach are, how many spotters are used, or what landing surface is used, the risk cannot be eliminated. The risk of injury includes minor injuries such as muscle pulls, dislocation and broken bones. The risk also includes catastrophic injuries such as permanent paralysis or even death from landing or falls on the back, neck, or head. I understand these risks and will not hold Mira Costa High School or any of its personnel responsible in the case of accident or injury at any time. I understand that members of the cheer squad will learn routines, support athletic teams, and participate in rallies, school activities, competitions, and community events. I understand that the term of commitment to the cheerleading squad runs from March 2017, through March 2018. I understand that due to the time commitment required, my child may not be able to participate in another sport or activity. I understand that participation on the squad requires excellent health and stamina.
