Fair 101 Fair Entry Requirements It is time to enter your projects into the fair. The first thing you should do is READ the guidelines and requirements listed in the fair book. You can obtain a copy at the 4-H Office, online at lapazcountyfair.org or by calling the Fair Office (669-8100) and having it emailed to you. After reading the requirements, TALK to your leader if you have any questions, and if you need clarification ASK for help. If you need additional help CALL the 4-H Office. The key to a successful entry day is communication La Paz County Fair Website All persons who are between the ages of 6 99 are required to have a pass to get into the Fair. Parents and Family members, remember to get your fair passes early. Last year we had parents standing at the gate at 7:00 unable to get into the fair grounds with their children. The ticket booth does not open until 8:00 am each day. The fair office will be selling passes the week prior to the fair and will be open on Sat. when we are doing fair set up. La Paz County Fair Admission Prices Daily Admission 5 and under Free Youth 6-12 and Senior 65 and older - $6.00 Anyone 13-64 - $8.00. http://lapazcountyfair.org/ La Paz County Fair 2014 March 13-16 From Wagon Wheels to Ferris Wheels Seasonal Pass 5 & under Free Youth 6-12 and Senior 65 and older - $15.00 Anyone 13 64 - $23.00 If you have any questions, please contact the fair office at 669-8100.

Fair 101-Interview Judging 4-H Agricultural & General Projects and Family and Consumer Science Entry Day is coming up fast. All Exhibitors must participate in an interview. Here are a few quick tips to have a successful interview: 1. If you have more than one entry into any area, you only need to interview once. For example, if you make 3 different kinds of cookies, you will only interview in one. Pick your favorite! 2. If a 4-H member has an entry in food, sewing, livestock related projects, each project will require a separate interview. 3. Official 4-H Dress is required for the interview. 4. Shake the judge s hand and introduce yourself before being seated. 5. Make great eye contact. 6. Know your project! Be able to tell what your favorite thing about the project, your least favorite, was it hard to make, what were three things you learned, would you do it again and if so what would you change? If you are interviewing for food and nutrition make sure you know the recipe and the nutritional value. 7. Practice have someone role play with you before Entry Day. 8. Shake the judge s hand before leaving the interview and thank the judge for their time. 9. Smile! A smile leaves a lasting impression.

Set a Good Example Remember that the fair is an exhibition and a way for the public to see what you have been working on all year long. With that being said, keep in mind that you re representing your family, your 4-H club and the La Paz County 4-H Program while you re at the fair. Be mindful of setting a good example for others with your behavior, your clothing and your attitude. Parents as well as members should remember to be good sportsmen! La Paz County Fair Dress Code La Paz County Fair Official 4-H Dress consists of dark blue or black pants; a long sleeved solid white or dark green (no lime, neon, light or checked) collared, tucked in, shirt that fastens in the front; closed toe black or brown leather or canvas shoes and belts are required. 4-H green neck ties are suggested. Arm bands or other accessories are optional. It is important to remember that your white show shirts can become transparent in some light, so all should remember to wear white tank tops or t-shirts under your shirts. Also, during sifting and weigh in you must be in closed toe shoes for safety and appropriate clothing as to be covered up when you re bending over or climbing over pens and fences! If you have any additional questions about show dress, please call and ask ahead of time.

Exhibitor Number Holders La Paz Youth Livestock has determined that all exhibitors will be required to wear number halters that display exhibitor numbers in front and in back. The numbers youth receive at weigh in should correspond with the animal s ear tag/tattoo/band. Youth with more than one animal will have multiple cards to match the animal they are showing. It is the youth s responsibility to ensure they are wearing the correct number prior to entering the show ring. Displaying the wrong number could be cause for disqualification. Number Halters can be purchased at any livestock supply store. If you have any question please feel free to contact me. RV s All 4-H RV s will be placed down below just like last year. Cost is still $25.00 for the week. You must deliver your RV either on Friday the 7 th or Saturday the 8 th between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. When you arrive please see Janie or Nikki for the proper Paperwork. If you have any questions, please contact the fair office 669-8100.
