Program Description The National Association of African American Studies & Affiliates appreciates your participation in the 2016 Olympics program. The national leadership anticipates that all participants will have an outstanding experience. The trip is scheduled for August 14-22, 2016. The Olympics Programs Committee will provide various helpful information up to the time of departure. Initially, all participants are encouraged to acquire a passport. Persons who currently hold a passport should check to make sure that this document is valid up to six (6) months after the conclusion of the trip (i.e., March 15, 2017). Customs and embassies require that a passport must be valid for a minimum of six months after the conclusion of an international trip. Travel Schedule: August 14-22, 2016 Scheduled Olympics events: Athletic (Track and Field), Marathon, Race Walk, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe Sprint, Box Cycling, Cycling (Mountain Bike), Cycling (Track), Diving, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Modern Pentathlon, Sailing, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weight Lifting, Free Style Wrestling, Greco-Roman Wrestling, and Closing Ceremony. Olympics Tickets: The travel package does not include tickets to the Olympics events. It is the responsibility of the participant to acquire his/her Olympics tickets.
Travel Expenses (per person): $2,990 Sharing a room $3,690 Private room Travel Fee Includes: Round trip airfare from Miami, Orlando, Tampa or another selected regional airport; hotel accommodations in Rio de Janeiro; transportation from and to airport; daily transportation to Olympics venues; daily transportation to tourist attractions and shopping; travel packet; 24-hour staff service; staff support in Rio de Janeiro; evening receptions; and tours. The travel fee does not include tickets to Olympics events. Each participant is required to acquire his/her own Olympics tickets. Tours Include: Copacabana Beach and Boardwalk; Jardim Botanical Gardens; driving tour of city; Art Museum of Rio; shopping Rio Sul, Sugarloaf, da Gavea; Christ the Redeemer statue, Fort de Lume; Rio Scenarium; Olympics Bicycle Road Race; Olympics Marathon Race; Shopping-Rio Plaza.

General Information Each registration form should only include the name of person(s) sharing a room. Terms and conditions should be read, signed and returned within thirty (30) days from the time issued by NAAAS & Affiliates. A copy will be forwarded to applicants. Payment schedule must be adhered. Special payment arrangements can only be approved by the Executive Director of NAAAS & Affiliates. Please review terms and conditions when issued. Each participant should acquire a passport. Passports must be active through March 15, 2017. Visa application information will be provided each participant six months prior to departure. Applications for a visa cannot be filed any earlier than 90 days prior to departure. NAAAS will assist with the visa process upon request. Visa information will be posted six months prior to departure. Daily schedule will be available six months prior to departure. Telephone cancellations will not be honored.
