NUWC Golf Employees League Bulletin 1 st Half Weeks #1 & 2 23 April, 2015 First of all, I apologize for the bully coming out a bit a late. Our webmaster is still working out a few bugs to display the data on the web page and he also was on a well-deserved vacation. The sub process he started has worked great and he continues to optimize the site to make things easier and provide more information for you, the league officers and the scribes. So please be a bit patient, don t bitch and unlike NMCI we won t be giving you a ticket when you complain we ll just try to make it happen! Give it a week or two and all will be working fine! 1 st HALF STANDINGS Place Team 1 st Half Pts 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 85 47.5 37.5 2 8 78.5 40 38.5 3 7 75.5 36 39.5 4 3 75 36 39 5 6 72 36 36 6 4 71 38 33 2 5 66.5 32 34.5 4 9 66.5 34 32.5 7 1 58 24.5 33.5 Green Indicates Bye Week. Note: Subs are ineligible for prizes Looks like Barbara Keller has set the bar early in the B group with a net 29. All others seem ripe for the picking! News After two weeks, it looks like Team 2 aka The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen look like the team to beat in the first half. After taking a hefty 47.5 points in Week 1, they still managed to win their match in Week 2 despite getting only 1 point from their D squad of Fanning and sub Seil. Stocking their A, B, and C squads with league officers appears to be working! Team 8 and Team 7 aren t really that far behind and Team 8 gets to battle Team 2 this week to try to knock them off the top. Actually, only 2 weeks into the season, it still is anybody s game. Remember you are playing for the top two spots to make the 1 st half playoffs. Not much fodder for the bully from the 1 st two weeks as in Week 1 it was still cold and I bailed out early and in Week 2 I had an early tee time and also didn t stick around the 19 th. As the season evolves, I m sure there will be much to write about. Notes: Captains should e-mail the handicapper, Pete Michno, no later than 1100 Thursday to give their line-ups. However, I m sure the handicapper would appreciate Captains providing the line-ups earlier if you have them set. 1100 on Thursday should be the exception, not the rule. Captains should inform all retirees and non-nuwc members on their teams to use the website for all League information. Dues Even though the dues are listed in the rules, they are repeated here as additional encouragement for you to pay on time! You must pay by this Friday if you do not want to incur penalties!! League dues for NUWC employees, contractors and NUWC retirees will be $40/year, payment received before 1 May 2015. Payment increases to $45.00 if received after 1 May 2015. Dues for others will be $45/year, payment received before 1 May 2015. Payment increases to $50.00 if received after 1 May 2015. Members are responsible for paying their own dues. Payments can be made to Barbara Keller (Treasurer) or to any other League Official. Make checks payable to NUWC Golf League. Cash will also be accepted. Deadline for payments is 1 May 2015. Please read the rules as there will be reduction in points penalties assessed to teams that have members who have not paid by this date. Additionally, members who do not pay by the date indicated are subject to removal as a member and will be placed on the Sub
List. Their position on the Team roster will be filled by the next eligible individual on the Sub List based upon membership criteria (frequency of filling in as a sub and handicap with respect to division roster spot needing to be filled). Team Captains are encouraged to ensure all Team Members pay their dues in a timely manner. Slow Play Watch: Nothing to report. Lots of threesomes due to too many Noah s so that kept the pace of play up. Joke of the Week Golfers at Hooters A group of golfers, all in their 40's, discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the waitresses were young, good looking, had big breasts and wore short-shorts. Ten years later, at age 50, the golf buddies once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the food and service was good, they had many televisions to watch the games on, and the beer selection was excellent. Ten years later, at age 60, the golfers again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace, and it was good value for the money. Ten years later, at age 70, they discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled. Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at Hooters because they had never been there before.
