5 EVENT DETAILS NAISH ONE EVENTS EVENT NAME(S): NAISH ONE SUP EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS NAISH ONE SUP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS As the term N1SCO is not widely known yet, we decided to have NAISH ONE in the main event title. Please also keep this in mind when promoting your national events. EVENT FORMATS 100m: o One way sprint, no turns o Start on the water o 2 buoys mark the start line, or a buoy and flag on the beach The event set up can be chosen according to the respective location; preferably, in order to give spectators a better experience, races should run parallel to the shoreline where possible. When not possible, then courses should be set from the shore to an outside buoy, competitors should (and if a start boat is available) start on the outside, sprinting towards the shoreline so that the finish is near the beach. 400m: o Same set up as 100m course o Start on the water o 2 buoys or one buoy and a flag on the beach mark the starting line/finish, 1 flat island/buoy marks the turning point (in order to avoid pile ups at the rounding mark, a buoy can be anchored on top of a flat island) The 400m race should be done on the same course as the 100m sprint (= easy set up, nothing needs to change). Competitors start on the water; in this case they can start at the buoy closer to the shore as they are doing 4 x 100m, thus the finish is at the shoreline again. In order to avoid people stacking up at the turning point, use the Naish flat island instead of a buoy when possible. Long Distance 10k: o Start on the water o Number of buoys is depending on the location The set up of the long distance race is determined according to the respective location; it can be specific laps on a small lake or one straight line all depending on the size and character of the location.
6 EVENT DETAILS NAISH ONE EVENTS EVENT FORMATS (contd.) Team Relay: o 4 participants per team o Start on water o Race on 400m course each participant does 2 legs (200m) o 2 buoys or one buoy and a flag on the beach mark the starting line/finish, 1 flat island/buoy marks the turning point Each team consists of 4 participants, one of which must be female. All females of each team start first (=all girls go together); the order of the rest of the team can be decided individually. The team sprint takes place on the same course as the 400m race. Starts: Starts for all events can be with competitors standing on boards, or standing in the water holding boards in place. We do not want Le Mans starts or running finishes, as emphasis should be on paddling, not running. EVENT CLASSES We suggest keeping the event classes as open as possible and initially to a minimum. According to the number of people that enroll, if needed, classes can be divided as follows (please decide for yourself): 16 and under 17 49 50 and up As it is an amateur event, there is no need for a pro or master class. Initially, with small fleets of starters, all competitors can compete together. EVENT LOGISTICS Naish ONE Boards: For competitors that do not own a Naish One board, they should have the chance to pre- order and have the boards ready for purchase at the event location. Make sure to communicate this service (in advance) when doing your national events!
