Competitive Rebounding Drills Two Minute Drills (Defensive Rebounding) Tug O-War Center Court Two players grab the ball from each other. While this drill is going on, two other 2 minute drills are going on at both ends of court. Butt to Butt Drill (Defensive Block-out Drill) Center Court Drive other guy out of circle. Circle Block Out Drill two blockers in circle and outside guys try to touch the ball laying in middle of circle (3 seconds) Manhattan Drill Three players line up under basket with shooter around free throw line Players rebound and take it up two scores and you re out and next player is in. 3 on 3 Rotate the Box 3 players in a V under basket and 3 on outside Coach shoots and players block out a player Can block out player on right or left (predetermined each time) Have defensive players rotate after each shot

2 on 2 cross block out 2 players line up on each side of basket in the blocks and block out 2 players running in from wing as ball is shoot The blockers cross over and block out player on other side of the floor Blockers must talk and decide which way they will cross over to avoid hitting each other. 2 on 2 Help Side Block Out Coach and player pass ball back and forth from top of key 1-4 high position 2 wing players rush in to rebound when ball is shot 2 defensive players deny the pass and play help side defense as ball is passed from each player. Do not wait on wing but go get him and block him out Do not let them get their feet inside the lane. 3 on 3 Box the Shooter Players lined up on wings and top of key Contest every shot on perimeter and block out shooter There are 3 balls in play Offense has 1 dribble and can shot fake. Then offense has two dribbles.

Central block Out: 3 players in line under basket players chop and decide who to box out Coach passes from under basket and player shoots. Two Minute Drills (Offensive Rebounding) Spin Baseline: Line up players on wing Have blocker facing the basket with back to players Coach puts ball off glass and offensive player spins around blocker, rebounds and shoots. Player rebounds his shot and passes back to coach. Have manager with extra ball behind coach to keep progression going. Chin It: Same as Spin Baseline except player chins (shot fake) the ball and then puts ball up to draw a foul. Spin Middle: Same as above but spin to middle. Do same three drills from all three spots (all sides) of the basket. (Wing, Middle, Wing). Offensive Block-Out (Push Back): Rather than spin, go hard to baseline and push back with butt, chin it and go up. Offensive Block-Out (Push In): If blocked out, show your hands and shove blocker under the basket (use legs to push). Can use a manager and Pad on above drills. Car Wash: Have 2 managers stand at foul line with pads, Offensive player lines up at top of key and crashes through pads, rebounds and shoots.

4 Minute Drills Knicks Drill: Two lines at foul line extended (big guys and guards) Defensive players line up at baseline out of bounds When shot goes up defensive players go out and block out till ball bounces If offense gets rebound put ball back up. Defensive Rebound Throw outlet to coach. Losers Run (28 second suicides, 10 second up and back 5 seconds to end of court. Coach shoots from Foul line Connecticut Drill: Three players line up in a V under basket Three players on wings and top of key On Offense, separate big guys up top, wings on one side, guards on other wing. Must get 3 straight defensive rebounds to get out of drill. Coach shoots ball. When finally get 3 defensive rebounds, go to the end of line and next guy is in. Rebound by Numbers: Offensive players line up around the 3-point line and are given numbers 1-5. Two defensive players are in the blocks. Coach shoots and calls out two numbers Players comes in for offensive Rebound. Rotate counter clockwise.

8 Minute Drill War Drill: 5 players on perimeter (around 3-point line) 5 defensive players on inside in lane Coach shoots defensive players do not want any offensive players to get their feet inside the lane. Offensive players run to the basket (don t get velcroed by running to a back) Offense gets rebound = point. Offensive can play it (put it up for 2 pts or kick it back out for 3 pts). Once score, ball comes back to coach. Defense gets zero points for defensive rebound Defense rebounds and runs break other way in transition. Offense drops back on defense. All offense goes to basket except point guard who drops back in transition Defensive point guard doubles the meanest offensive player rather than follow offensive point guard. When defensive player gets rebound play stops (do not want a transition drill but rather a collision drill).
