Walk! Run! Bike! Beaver Dam Developed by Members of Leadership Beaver Dam Class of 2012
Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce 127 South Spring Street Beaver Dam, WI 53916 (920) 887-8879 www.beaverdamchamber.com This publication is the result of a collaborative effort of members of the Leadership Beaver Dam Class of 2012. Increasing the level of physical activity in adults and children is a state and national objective. The National Institutes of Health report that more than one-half of American adults are overweight. Since 1980, the national percentage of overweight young people has doubled - considered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be an epidemic of obesity. Adequate physical activity is essential to good health and is considered to be a protective factor against conditions such as heart disease and cancer. While physical activity of any kind is beneficial, walking is one form that people of all ages can perform and enjoy. We hope the Run, Walk, Ride publication makes walking, running and biking a more enjoyable experience. Sincerely, Phil Fritsche Executive Director Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce

Beaver Dam Lake Bike Route Directions: while circumnavigating Beaver Dam Lake on a bicycle is certainly possible, it is not recommended. This is, however, the route that one of our Leadership Beaver Dam friends use when he needs a peaceful place to ride. The road closest to the lake on the North and East side of the lake is State Hwy. 33. This highway has narrow shoulders and is heavily used by semi-trucks with a 55 mph speed limit, therefore it is not recommended as a bicycle route. The West and Southern border of the lake lends itself to a much more pastoral country setting for a bike ride. Following madison Street out of town to County G allows a bike rider access to lightly used roads that lead to the lake shore (although none are through streets). County G can be followed by County C into Fox Lake, for a one way trip of approximately 20 miles.
