THE CREWLETTER Newsletter of the Think Pink NDA Crew Team East Fork Chase Regatta September 17, 2007 Notre Dame Academy Toledo, OH President s Message Fall 07 is officially under way! Great stuff in Cleveland, by all accounts. Good results in almost all categories and great teamwork by all members of the NDA Crew Family. A very special day too for our newly minted novice class - you are all officially novices to US Rowing as of Saturday. You now have 12 months from Saturday to compete as novices, so make the most of these months. Now on to Cincinnati! Although we have had some adverse weather in Cinci in the past, this is another very nice, though very different, regatta site. In contrast to Cleveland, we should be able to see most of the racecourse this weekend, so bring your binoculars. On that weather note, a word to the wise - come prepared for weather. One of these days it is likely to catch up! On a completely different note, our home town Frogtown Races is two weeks off. This is a great opportunity for all those relatives, friends and acquaintances who don't get to many regattas to see the Ladies in Pink. Be sure to invite one and all. As one of the sponsoring clubs, NDA Crew needs to provide 8 to 12 volunteers to help with timing. Official timing will be provided this year by professionals - Powerhouse Timing (who do the Head of the Charles in Boston). We are told that volunteers will need to be at their stations for most of the day. We will try to let you see your daughter race, but no guarantees. Also, there will be a training session Friday night before the regatta. For the conflict averse, we are not DOING timing as last year. The model for this year is unskilled labor only. If you can spare the time, please contact one of our officers this weekend 1

Medals from Head of the Cuyahoga regatta on 9/15: Winning silver medals (2nd place) were the following: Womens Novice 8 boat - Jasmine Jacobs, Liz Welsh, Sam Riccio, Molly Eddingfield, Nicole Fuller, Lauren Rusch, Elizabeth Coyle and Gabbey MacKinnon - coxed by Maddi Georgoff ( out of 8 boats) Womens Jr Light 4 - Mary Claus, Betsy McCarthy, Katelyn Veluscek and Leama Ajaka - coxed by Sam Kisov (out of 3 boats) Womens Jr 8 - Linda Scheiber, Katelyn Kurt, Katie Fell, Haley Murrell, Anna Farrell, Teri Relation, Lindsay Hykes and Sarah Bremer - coxed by Haley Macritchie (out of 17 boats) Winning a bronze medal (3rd place) was the following boat: Womens Jr 4 - Anna Farrell, Teri Relation, Olivia Ullery and Andrea Bremer coxed by Kelley Lach (out of 18 boats) Many Special Thank Yous. Thank you to our wonderful food coordinator, Diana Heitmeyer. The food was really good and Diana you did a great job organizing the food and feeding many hungry people. We appreciate your hard work with this effort. Thank you also to all of the parents who arrived early, set-up the tents, cooked the meals, cleaned up the site and stayed late to load the trailer. There is definitely a team behind the team with our organization. Also, thanks to all those race fans that purchased the pink and blue Crew bells. They were a big hit and are now sold out for the season. Make sure that you bring them to the regattas to cheer the ladies in pink on! Also, look for new spirit wear to order at the regatta as well as t-shirts and sandals. Pictures Thanks so much to Mr. Rick Jarosi for taking so many photos of our athletes in Cleveland last week and sharing them with us. He sent me a link to them that will be placed on the NDA Crew web page. The link is: https://photos.buckeye-express.com/albums.cfm/3560 They are really awesome pictures and he took some of every boat and many of the girls. Please take time to look through them. Blessing of the Fleet Thanks also to Charlie Murrell for organizing the Blessing of the Fleet last Friday. It was a very nice ceremony and enjoyed by all. Thanks also to Rev. Richard Morse, Sister Mary Ann and Mrs. Kim Grilliot for coming to share in the celebration with the NDA Crew families. We were thrilled to have you there with us. Hotel for Cincinnati Please note that Fairfield Inn is the hotel that was recommended for Friday night. The maps that were distributed show the Holiday Inn which is right next door to the Fairfield. If you have made reservations for a hotel listed in the CrewLetter it is the Fairfield in Cincinnati. 2

Uniforms If anyone has any additional uniform needs, Gloria will be placing an order again this week. All orders have to be given to Deanna at the boathouse by Thursday. The uniforms will be in shortly before the Boston trip. Gloria s number is (419) 389-4882 if you have any additional questions. Yearbook Pictures Team yearbook pictures will be taken on Wednesday 9/19/07 at 3:30 for the Varsity and at 4:45 for the Novice. PLEASE wear your uniforms to practice that day. Name tags By now, all of you know that NDA Crew does have the coolest name tags ever. Kisov s are willing to handle any special requests that you might have for other family members, please email the request to kisove@aol.com. Team Shirts and Sweatshirts Team Shirts and Sweatshirts are being sold. Prices are as follows: Short Sleeve TShirts - $15 Long Sleeve TShirts - $18 Sweatshirts - $24 They will be grey shirts or sweatshirts with a navy, hot pink and white design. The artwork will be available on Saturday. These shirts are for team members athletes and coaches only. Look for the order sheets on Saturday. Payment can be made to NDA Crew. Mud Hens Thank you, thank you, and thank you from the bottom of the heart of the forty-seven Ladies in pink for participating in the Mud Hen s fundraiser. This year our NDA Crew family worked 13 Mud Hens games. The ten originally scheduled games and three added games helped the club secure necessary funds to purchase the blue Resolute. Your time commitment and hard work is very much appreciated! Thanks to those who are constantly giving either time, talents or financial assistance to help keep our team equipped and competitive. 3

Frogtown Regatta in Toledo Remember to invite all of your friends and family to join us in International Park to cheer the Ladies in Pink on to Victory on Saturday September 29 th. We would also love to see NDA Crew alumnae and their families, NDA staff and other NDA alumnae down by the Maumee. Diana is planning on having chicken fajitas and she will need to have a count of all people that you know of that are attending. Yes, we roll out our NDA Hospitality and provide breakfast or lunch for all of our guests. Please email Diana at dheitmeyer64@aol.com with your expected number of guests for the day as soon as possible. 4

EAST FORK CHASE REGATTA CINCINNATI, OH SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 FOOD ASSIGNMENTS Thank you for all your wonderful support and food contributions!!! Just a few kindly reminders! It is very important that your food item arrives to the regatta in the exact amount indicated. Please write your last name on your item. Please check the items in with me (Diana Heitmeyer) or Pat Bremer first thing in the morning. If the assigned food item is perishable, PLEASE STORE IT ON ICE IN YOUR OWN COOLER. Many foods might be served later in the day and need to be kept cold. Any concerns, questions, requests, or ideas in regards to the food assignments please let me know. Feel free to call me at home (419) 474-1510, on my cell (419) 346-0366 or via my email dheitmeyer64@aol.com. Note: names are not in alphabetical order! If you do not see your name please contact me.
