PREREQUISITES Certified diver for at least 6 months. INSTRUCTOR DEVELPMENT COURSE ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR (AI) Duration: 5 Days Description: As a PADI AI, you not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. The PADI AI course is the first portion of the PADI IDC. OPEN WATER SCUBA INSTRUCTOR (OWSI) Duration: 4 Days Description: The OWSI program is the second part of PADI s IDC. It introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator. EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE INSTRUCTOR (EFRI) Duration: 1 Day Description: CPR and first aid are important skills that in high demand. As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you can teach these skills to anyone.
INSTRUCTOR EXAM DIVE THEORY There are 5 multiple choice exams, 12 questions each. The topics are physics, physiology, skills and environment, equipment and RDP. To pass you have to score 75% on each topic. GENERAL STANDARDS AND PROCEDURES An open book exam and 50 multiple choice questions. PADI DIVE THEORY OPTIONAL BUT IMPORTANT When participating in the PADI IDC, we will not spend much time on your dive theory knowledge. Simple reason, because there is so much more to learn. Use your time wisely and work on your dive theory knowledge before participating in the IDC. We have a special program that can help you out. DON T UNDERESTIMATE! You will get tests on your Instructor Exam and there will be a pass or fail score. We offer 1 month practise exams, E-Learning and guidance to prepare you for the Instructor Exams. PRICE: USD $149.- Not included in package price IDC PREPERATION DAY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED One day before the IDC starts we have scheduled an IDC preparation day. During this day we will cover the following in and out water objectives. Demonstration level skill circuit. ACCOMMODATION & LUNCH SHARED ROOMS During the IDC you will get accommodation for 13 nights. Meaning you have a place one night before the IDC starts, 10 days of the IDC and 2 days IE. Shared rooms are for maximum 2 people, 2 single beds, wardrobe, desk and a ceiling fan. On the same floor you have a shared bathroom. UPGRADE OCEAN VIEW ROOM In the same building we offer private ocean view rooms, with AC, bathroom and sea view balcony. The price for upgrading to an ocean view room is USD $15.- per day. EXTENDING YOUR STAY Please contact us ahead of time if you would like to add a couple extra days on your accommodation. LUNCH DURING IDC Including in every PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is lunch on the beach at Pirate Bay, restaurant and bar. This is only a 2 minute walk from the dive center and your accommodation. We offer Á la carte lunch with options between sandwiches, pasta s, burgers, salads and much more.

SIGN UP AND PAYMENTS IDC APPLICATION Prior to sign up for the IDC, please fill out the application. You can find the application online or in the attachment of the email. 1 MONTH PRIOR Joining our IDC, requires a 1 month signing up before start date of the IDC. Most important reason, so we can prepare you for this adventure and be successful during the program. Please contact us for exceptions. PAYMENTS To confirm your spot, a 50% (non refundable) payment of the Course Fee and Materials should be completed 1 month before start date course. Second 50% needs to be completed before finishing the Assistant Instructor Part of the IDC Program. F.A.Q. Q - There are a lot of dive centers advertising IDC s, what is the differents? A - The biggest differents between dive centers is the duration of the IDC and the amount of candidates participating. At GOPRO Curacao the IDC takes 12 days compared to some other dive centers who teach this course in 7-10 days. The reason we take more time is because we would like you to be successful also after you past the instructor exam. We don t just prepare you for passing the instructor exam. At GOPRO Curacao we take more time for each individual, so you will be comfortable teaching PADI courses in real life. Because the quality of our training is our main focus we also keeping our groups as small as possible and hire IDC staff instructor when groups do become bigger then 6 candidates. Q - I live in Europe, why is it cheaper to do my IDC in Curacao? A - The main reason is you have a favorable exchange rate. Meaning that when you are paying in Euro s you will be paying less then for example The Netherlands and on top of that you get accommodation and 2 instructor specialties for free. Of course we understand you still need to purchase a flight ticket, but even then you will spend less money and you are scuba diving in the Caribbean.
F.A.Q. Q - Who conducts the IE and how difficult is the instructor exam? A - Because PADI Course Directors are not allowed to sign you off as an PADI instructor, there will be someone coming over from PADI headquarters to evaluate your skills. Even if Course Directors think your ready, the PADI examiner will basically double check if the Course Director has successfully prepared his candidates for the real world. You don t learn anything new. He is just making sure that the Course Director is correct and you are ready to start teaching diving. That s why the IE of Instructor Exam also stands for It s Easy, because it truly is. Q - What if I fail the instructor exam? A - Of course anyone could have a bad day and we fully understand. So that s why at GOPRO Curacao we will re-train you and get you ready for the next IE, free of charge. Q - Is it difficult to find a job when I became an PADI instructor? A - No, absolutely not. Keep in mind that additional training will makes it easier. This doesn t always have to be another PADI Course, but think about learning another languages or achieving you boat captain license. When you become a PADI instructor you can really work all over the world. Of course this does require the right adventurous and social attitude. You always have the opportunity to stay on Curacao a little bit longer and team teach with our instructor to achieve more teaching experience. A great way to achieve your first certifications and learning from other instructors.
F.A.Q. Q - Can I make my money back from this investment? A - Yes, but give it a little bit of time. Keep in mind that you just became a PADI instructor. Meaning in some situations you will start with smaller courses and not maybe getting paid what you would like. But isn t that with any job in the world? The true advantages is that you don t have to wait for years like in the real world. No, after gaining some experience (what can be done in a couple of months) you have enough opportunities to get a job anywhere. But to give you an idea, beginning instructors will make around $1,500.- and $2,000.- per month and more experienced between $2,500.- and $3,000.- per month.
