Mountain Vista Retirement Community 4800 Tabor Street Wheat Ridge, CO I70 to Ward Road. Go north to 1st right onto Frontage Rd, follow east to Tabor St., Turn left to 49th Ave., turn right and follow turn into parking lot. Meetings are held in social room on northeast corner of complex. Fiori d Italia Club La Voce President: Mike Abruzzi Vice President: Pat Califana Secretary: Anna Vann Treasurer: Rachelle Rendon President s Corner Friends, It was great to see a good member turnout at April s meeting and we were honored by the presence of a few guests as well. I appreciate all of your input that helped organize this years Fiori D Italia events, it took some time but we got through it all. We will be needing help this year with rebuilding the Fiori D Italia float that is entered into both the Columbus Day Parade, and the Carnation festival that is held in August. We have some members who signed up to help, but we need all the volunteers we can get. If you want to help contact Michael Abruzzi at 303-250-2278, or my e-mail address mabruzzi1@hotmail.com. Pat Califana does an excellent job on the monthly newsletter. She gives you details about upcoming Fiori D Italia events so you can stay informed. So, when you see the newsletter in your e-mail inbox, please open it up and get-up-to-speed on what s happening in our club. Larrie Thomase was the member speaker and provided us an insight to his interesting life. Larrie is a humble man, has a great sense of humor, and cut his life path his way. Thanks for sharing your life Larrie. Barbara Pietrafeso will be May s member speaker. Everyone have a fun and safe April and I will see you Saturday May 3rd. Club Update Page 2 Mount Saint Vincent: Our club has helped with yard work at Mount Saint Vincent, which provides a safe home for severely traumatized and abused children. They are offering an opportunity for our club to tour their facility. We are going to hold our June pot luck & meeting at 9:00 at their facility followed by a tour and our club performing yard work. Annual Busnardo Memorial Bocce Tournament: Sal is arranging this bocce tournament on May 31 at Mickey s to benefit Caruso Charities. See page 4 for more info and application. Italian Club Picnic: Thanks to Fred Marzano for signing the contract for the park and donating the fees for the park and liquor license. The picnic will be June 29. We discussed a raffle for a charity possibly Homefront Heros or National Guard. Murder Mystery Dinner Dance: We are planning to hold this on Saturday Oct. 25 at Sons of Italy. If you want to help with this event, please let Mike know. It was a great event last year and should be even better this year. Fiori d Italia merchandise: is still available. Fiori Christmas Party: This will be held on December 6 at Clements Community Center in Lakewood at 1580 Yarrow St. Sunshine Report MEMBER NEWS: Margie is recovering from shoulder surgery and Gene from knee replacement surgery. Both are doing well. Frances and Angelo are enjoying a mystery vacation in North Carolina. Laura is leaving on a trip to Italy for 1 and a half months. PRAYERS REQUESTED: Diana Frazzini s mother passed away on April 7 from complications of a stroke. Margie s sister had a stroke. Rocky Mountain Senior Olympics Bocce Tournament: Sandra and Chris are co-chairing. This will be held June 4. Cost is $20 per person. A team can be 2 persons 50 and older and 2 persons younger. Cost includes breakfast and lunch. Sandra will have applications soon. Sons of Italy Golf Tournament. Denver Sons of Italy are having their annual Golf Tournament on Monday June 16. July 4th Rockies Game with Fireworks: Barbara Pietrafeso has tickets available for the July 4 game and fireworks show at a reduced price of $25 a ticket. International soccer clubs Manchester United and AS Roma will square off at the Broncos' home stadium on Saturday, July 26 as part of the Guinness International Champions Cup.
