PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Fellow Shooters: On behalf of the Michigan Trapshooting Association I would like to invite you to our 2017 shooting events. Our MTA Home Grounds in Mason features great targets, great backgrounds, and great camping. This combination makes Mason one of the finest places to shoot trap in the country. I would be remiss if I didn t thank our Board of Directors, our volunteers, our contributors, and our valued employees, as it takes all working together to make our shoots successful. These folks help us all by doing things from working with youth shooters (AIM, SCTP, and High School), coming to our work day, squadding, classifying, cashiering, scoring, refereeing at shootoffs, to setting targets, loading trap houses, working with the ATA, and creating and publishing Shoot Programs like the one you re reading now. When everything gets done, the result is excellent shoots for us all! Again this year, we have many major vendors and sponsors. They make the shoots go better as we all can find the goods and services we need right on vendor row and in the cafeteria. Please support them as they are supporting us. The MTA is an IRS approved 501(c)-3 tax exempt organization so donations to the MTA and the Hall of Fame are fully tax deductible. The Hall of Fame continues to improve under the leadership of the Hall of Fame Board and they will be adding three long time stalwarts to the Hall this year. Richard Burkett, Kirk Burl, and Dennis Howe will be inducted after the Singles Championship at the State Shoot. Please join us for the festivities. Your MTA Board of Directors continues to make changes to help improve the shoots. We ve added three shooting days, one to each team shoot and one to the Great Lakes Grand American. We ve also changed the daily programs for a few days in the shoots. We are all looking forward to a safe, fun shooting year at Mason in 2017. See you there! J B Lewis MTA President MTA WORK DAY Please join us April 22, 2017 to prepare the Michigan Trapshooting Association grounds for a great shoot season 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Lunch Provided BRING YOUR GUN OPEN SHOOTING AFTER

MTA HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM Last year was a successful building year for the MTA Hall of Fame & Museum. Through the generous donations of Michigan trapshooters and their families, we added artifacts and historical information to our Michigan Trapshooting Museum collection and raised funds to preserve our trapshooting heritage. Look for new museum exhibits this year. We are thrilled to announce our 2017 Hall of Fame inductees - Richard Burkett, Kirk Burl, and Dennis Howe. Please join us at our State Shoot (July 1, 2017) as we celebrate their accomplishments. Plans are being made to renovate the Hall of Fame & Museum area of the club house to preserve our collection year-round. Fund raising events to support the MTA Hall of Fame & Museum will include 50/50s, gun raffles, and a silent auction at our State shoot. Donations of items for the silent auction are appreciated. And that s not all. We have College Scholarships available! Attention Michigan High Schoolers!!! The Michigan Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame is proud to announce that, beginning in 2018, a new Scholarship is being made available to deserving High School Seniors. Applications can be found on the Michigan Trapshooting Website (Michigantrap.com) and at the MTA home grounds, or by contacting any Hall of Fame Board Member. Please submit your application by the last day (July 2, 2017) of the Michigan State Trapshooting Championships, to be considered for the inaugural Scholarship(s) in 2018. A Great Lakes Thank You to all who support the MTA Hall of Fame & Museum. Best wishes for a successful 2017 shooting year. MTA Hall of Fame & Museum Board of Directors

Any shooter whose yardage or class has changed for any reason shall be considered to have been notified when the new class or yardage is posted in the scoreboard annex. Doubles No entrant shall shoot doubles events in less than Class B or higher without having a minimum of 500 registered targets for the current and previous year combined. Handicap No entrant shall shoot any handicap events at their current A.T.A. yardage without having a minimum of 1,000 registered targets for the current and previous year combined. Handicap entrants not meeting the requirements shall be assessed a 2-yard penalty (Ladies and Sub-Juniors, 1 yard) to their current yardage. Handicap target requirements will be waived for Senior Veterans. Penalty yardage will be waived, if shooting targets only. The shooter will not be eligible to win trophies or play options. 5. SPECIAL CATEGORIES Lady I, Lady II, Junior, Sub-Junior, Junior Gold, Sub-Veteran, Veteran and Senior Veteran categories must be declared when you classify. This is the responsibility of the shooter. Once the shooter shoots at the first target the classification cannot be changed. Exception to this rule is if the classification error was the fault of the classifier. Check your classification before you leave Classification. If your special category does not appear on the posted score sheet, please report the omission at the Classification counter. Age-based special categories are determined at the beginning of the target year, or on your birthday. Please see the A.T.A. rule book for details. Ages for special category are: Veteran: 65 years old up to 70 years old Senior Veteran: 70 years old and older Junior: 15 years old up to 18 years old Sub-Junior: Under 15 years old Sub-Veteran: 55 years old up to 65 years old Junior Gold: 19 years old up to 23 years old Lady I: Under 55 years old Lady II: 55 years old and older Additional Special Category Trophies: Zone Team, Parent and Child, Husband and Wife For the Michigan State Shoot Singles Championship (Event 13) July 1, 2017. Your eligibility for these additional special category trophies must be declared at the Squading counter, prior to the start of the event. TROPHIES, TIES AND SHOOT-OFFS 1. A shooter may not win more than one trophy in the same event. If a shooter s score qualifies for more than one trophy, that shooter must notify the office within 15 minutes after that event s last scores have been posted, as to which trophy he/she desires to take or shoot off for. Concurrent special awards are exempt from this rule. If the shooter fails to make appropriate notification of his/her choice, the Directors will make the choice for that shooter. Second and third places in Special Catergories will be determined by reverse long run or coin flip if not decided by Championship shoot-off. 13

This rule shall not be interpreted to affect the right of all contestants whose score qualifies them from shooting off for the Championship Trophy in any event. Championship Trophy, for the purpose of this rule, means the trophy awarded to the highest scoring event winner. It does not mean class champions, special category champions or any other trophy than the high score winner and runner-up. 2. Leader-to-date listings are displayed on the video monitors in the main cafeteria building and scoreboard annex to allow shooters to track potential shoot-offs. Shooters are advised to note where special category shooters may have high score/tie in class and special category. It is possible that a score lower than broadcast on the video display monitors may be involved in a shoot-off. 3. Trophy ties in all handicap events will be shot off after the last event of each day. Trophy ties in singles and doubles events will be carried over to the next like event on the regular program whenever possible, and shot off by sub-event. If the program does not indicate a carryover for singles or doubles events, the trophy ties will be shot off after the last event each day. 4. Contestants in shoot-offs will be called over the public address system to report to the designated check-in area. Anyone in a tie who does not answer the call for shoot-offs will forfeit rights to any trophy. 5. The trophy room is located at the east end of the cafeteria. It will be opened each day of the shoot at times determined by the Directors. Trophies will not be mailed. 6. Lists of unclaimed trophies are posted in the trophy room and the squading room. The M.T.A. will make every effort to get trophies to the winners. However, any trophies for the year not picked up by the end of the Fall Team Shoot will be forfeited. Fall Team Trophies not picked up during the Fall Team Shoot can be picked up during the next year s Spring Team Shoot. After that the trophies are forfeited. 7. Pins and Patches: Anyone breaking 100 or 200 straight without carryover for the first time at the Michigan home grounds will be awarded a State Pin. Only one pin will be awarded to any individual. Please inquire at Squading. 14 MAKE-UPS Any shooter missing all or part of a round should report to the practice traps for a make-up sheet, and make up the round(s) no later than 10 minutes after the last squad in that event has completed the event. Make-up rounds will be shot alone or with other make-up shooters. If the make-up is not shot within 30 minutes after the event, all targets not fired at will be scored zero. No shooter can make-up more than 50 targets on the practice trap. They must re-squad or forfeit. FEES 1. Fees Daily Fees: A.T.A. $3.00, M.T.A. $2.00. Payments may be by check (exact amount only) or cash in U.S. funds only. Payment by credit card is not available. The cashier will accept no counter checks or secondary party checks; no exceptions. Junior and Sub-Junior shooters who wish to play options in any event must pay full entry and options fees in all events. (See Classification number 5.)
