P R E S S I N F O R M AT I O N INTRODUCING THE OMEGA CELEBRITY MASTERS The stars arrive to compete in the inaugural tournament. As this year s OMEGA European Masters gets into full swing, the title host will also be introducing the first ever OMEGA Celebrity Masters. Taking place on the afternoon of Saturday, September 9th, the tournament will include many famous names from the world s of swimming, surfing, cricket, rugby, ice hockey and entertainment. Surrounded by Switzerland s incredible mountain scenery, OMEGA is proud to be at home and to share this unique 9-hole celebrity golf match with 8 invited players including Michael Phelps, Rob Machado, Kevin Pietersen, Peter Forsberg, Mike Tindall, Rob Riggle, Ed Westwick, and Michelle Monaghan. The talented celebrities will be split into four teams of two. All participants will compete in a best ball scramble format with Par as their friend (meaning that Par will be the maximum score on each hole) and the team with the most birdies will be crowned champions and take the title. All players are competing for their own selected charities with OMEGA making donations on their behalf. The OMEGA Celebrity Masters is set to tee off on the main course in Crans-Montana, following on from the professionals in the OMEGA European Masters. This will ensure that the celebrities will enjoy a complete tournament atmosphere, while spectators can spend extra time on the course to see the stars in action. The occasion promises to be full of fun and skill. Who will win? Only time will tell.
CONFIRMED PLAYERS MICHAEL PHELPS ROB MACHADO KEVIN PIETERSEN Michael Phelps is the most highly decorated Olympian of all time. At the conclusion of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, he finished his illustrious swimming career with a total of 28 medals, including 23 gold. Renowned as one of history s greatest athletes, Michael has been an OMEGA ambassador since 2004 and has set many World Records as well as winning many highly prized and prestigious awards. Nicknamed Mr. Smoothy due to his laid-back attitude and fluid surfing style, Rob Machado is one of the best-known goofy-foot surfers in the world today. Machado has won many of pro surfing s greatest competitions, including Hawaii s Pipeline Masters and the US Open of Surfing. The Australian-American is now in the Surfing Walk of Fame and dedicates his time to environmental causes and selected surfing competitions that are close to his heart. The former England international cricketer Kevin Pietersen is known as one of the best batsmen in modern cricket. He became the fastest batsmen to reach both 1,000 and 2,000 runs in One Day Internationals and has the second-highest run total from his first 25 tests. His flamboyant style was at the heart of English cricket for many years and his most famous victories, amongst more than 100 international tests, include the historic 2005 Ashes series win against Australia. PETER FORSBERG MIKE TINDALL ROB RIGGLE One of the best ice hockey players of his generation, Peter Forsberg is a retired NHL center who stands 8th for all-time career points-per-game and 4th for all-time career assistsper-game. The Swede played 19 years as a professional, 13 of which were in the NHL. During that time, he won two Stanley Cups with the Colorado Avalanche and was awarded with many playing honours. Forsberg also enjoyed a record-breaking international career, representing Sweden at four Olympic Winter Games, two World Cups and five World Championships. Mike Tindall is the former captain of the England rugby team. Playing as an outside centre, he was a physical and imposing player who was most famously part of England s World Cup winning team in 2003. That same year, he was also instrumental in the Grand Slam win in the Six Nations Championship. Since retiring, Tindall has grown into family life alongside his wife Zara Phillips, and also dedicates his time to a host of charity sporting events. One of the most well-known and admired comedians today, Rob Riggle is best known for his television work on The Daily Show and Saturday Night Live, as well as in films such as The Hangover, Dumb and Dumber, 21 Jump Street and Step Brothers. Before and during his comedy career, Riggle s background included 23 years of service in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. ED WESTWICK MICHELLE MONAGHAN Ed Westwick is a talented actor and musician, best known for his role as Chuck Bass on the TV series Gossip Girl. During his successful time on the show, Westwick was nominated for, and won, several Teen Choice Awards and was named Breakthrough Talent by GQ in 2010. The Englishman most recently appeared on the BBC Two comedy series White Gold, and has also been seen in films including J. Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood, as well as Chalet Girl and The Crash. Michelle Monaghan is a Golden Globe nominated actress who has starred on television and in film. Her impressive career includes TV roles on the critically-acclaimed series True Detective, for which she received her nomination for Best Supporting Actress, as well as Boston Public. In film, she has appeared in Mission : Impossible III, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Gone Baby Gone, Made of Honor, Eagle Eye, and Source Code.
