Welcome to the 2017-2018 Ski race season. The Muskoka Ski Club offers a strong development program for all our alpine athletes. We do this by being progressive in our training methods, combining sound skill development based on the principles of Alpine Canada s Long Term Athlete and Skier Development model, socialization and fun. Our coaches are trained and certified by the CSCF, CSIA, CFSA and participate in annual technical and educational updates. Alpine Ontario and Canadian Freestyle Ski Association collect their fees directly through an online payment service. Please register with them before November 30, 2017 Muskoka Ski Club race program dates: December 27 th -31 st Christmas camp and race January 6 th 9-week program commences March 2 nd 3 rd Club Championship and MSC Race awards Muskoka Ski Club CHRISTMAS camp is 5 days including training and race day with awards. December 27-31 inclusive Muskoka Ski Club 9 WEEK program is 18 training/event days. Commences Saturday Jan 6th for 9 consecutive Saturdays and Sundays concluding with the annual Muskoka Ski Club member race, family and awards on March 2 nd & 3 rd Muskoka Ski Club REGULAR program is 23 training/event days. Alpine fees is payable if not registered in a regular program PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS U 6 Ages 4-5 as of December 31, 2017 Our Tiny Talent Team introduces 4-5 year olds to the fundamental skills of sliding in a fun, animated, safe and structured environment. 2 hour program, 9:30 11:30 Saturday and Sunday Program times, Saturday and Sunday, 2 hr morning session 4 hour program, Program times, Saturday & Sunday, 2 hr morning session 9:30-11:30 and 2 hr afternoon session 12:30 2:30 U 8 Ages 6-7 as of December 31, 2017 Our Talent Team introduces 6-7 year olds to the fundamental skills of sliding in a fun, animated, safe and structured environment. Participants must be able to ride chairlift independently

U 10 Ages 8-9 as of December 31, 2017 U10 is our entry level skills program for ages 8-9 with an emphasis on participation rather than competition. Teamwork and a social atmosphere are as important as technical skills (stance and balance, pivoting, edging, rhythm), introducing tactical skills (turn shape, speed) and developing well rounded ski skills. Optional participation in Alpine Ontario/ interclub events are available. U10 Racers participate in 2-3 events that require travel and additional race entry fees. U 12 Alpine Race Ages 10-11 as of December 31, 2017 U12 Division is a traveling competitive race program. Racers compete as a team and as individuals to help promote fun, teamwork and a competitive atmosphere. The programs objectives include developing technical skills (stance and balance, steering, pivoting, edging, rhythm), introducing tactical skills (turn shape, line in course) and developing racing skills. Athletes train and race in a variety of alpine disciplines including: giant slalom (GS), slalom (SL), paneled slalom (PS), stubbie slalom (stubbie) and kombi (KOM). Helmets (closed eared) are mandatory. Additional fees may apply to Athletes choosing to compete in invitational races and events not listed on the team schedule. U14 Alpine Race Ages 12-13 as of December 31, 2017 U14 Division is a traveling competitive race program participating in SOD CUP division. The objectives of the program include the consolidation and refinement of technical skills, the development of tactical skills and to have fun! U14 racers participate in 4-5 events. Helmets are mandatory. Additional fees may apply to Athletes choosing to compete in invitational races and events not listed on the team schedule.. U16 Alpine Race Ages 14-15 as of December 31, 2017 U16 Division is a traveling competitive race program participating in SOD CUP division. U21 Alpine Race Ages 16-20 as of December 31, 2017 Any interest in this age group or activities, please contact Bruce Howell at bruce@skihiddenvalley.ca All Mountain Ski Program Ages 7-13 All mountain free skiing, Park and Race Athletes must be competent Blue run skiers with some Black Diamond experience This member only program is for skiers looking for an all-round ski experience including race, all mountain and terrain park disciplines. A sound foundation of different elements of skiing will promote skiing for life or allow a participant to follow a competitive path in the future. Helmets are mandatory. Freestyle Ski Program Ages 12+ (Saturday Only) Continuing the progression of All Mountain this program will focus more activity in the park. Rails, Table Tops, Switch, Grabs and Spins will be the focus. Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in competitions with Freestyle Ontario. Competitive athletes at the freestyle level will need to travel for competition and training.. Helmets are mandatory. Additional fees apply to Canadian Freestyle, event registrations and event lift tickets. Private Coaching Athletes interested in additional private coaching for their racer/s can make arrangements through Bruce at the Snow School desk. Depending on the request, daily fees range between $150-$220/ day plus expenses. Private coaching is only available on days our program is not running and subject to availability of Coaches,
