ELITE STUNT CHALLENGE 1. Each group stunt routine may be up to but no longer than 1 minute 15 seconds with background music. 2. Timing will begin with the first sound of music or movement of the team. The routine does not have to be choreographed to the music. 3. Teams will be judged on technique, strength and stability of stunts, flow of routine, degree of difficulty (taking into consideration the number of stunts), and perfection of routine and overall impression. 4. No jumps or tumbling are permitted. 5. There will be a penalty each time there is a violation of UCA/AACCA rules and regulations. A separate penalty if your team routine exceeds the time limit. 6. Four to five members from the same team can enter. Limit one group PER team (i.e. If you have 4 squads entered into the competition, you can have 4 groups entered into this competition as long as they are from different squads) 7. Recreation division begins with Midgets. Competition Rules, Regulations, and Guidelines Rules, Regulations and Divisions: We will be following UCA/AACCA rules and regulations. To obtain an official copy of the rules, regulations and guidelines please refer to www.aacca.org or www.varsity.com AWHS Cheerleading reserves the right to combine divisions if necessary. Conduct and Sportsmanship: All squads are responsible for the conduct of members of their program including staff, parents, fans and participants. All the teams work hard on their routine so we ask that all spectators conduct themselves in a respectful manner any distasteful behavior will result in penalization of the squad and/or expulsion from the competition. Safety We will be following UCA and AACCA rules so please obtain a copy BEFORE the competition to become familiar with the guidelines safety/head judge will deduct 5 points per illegal move which can result in a change in your team s placement so please know the rules! Please NO JEWERLY OR GLITTER this will result in 5 point penalty! Temporary spirit tattoos are allowed. Spotters will be provided. Squads are encouraged to perform skills within their ability level. Time Limits and Routine Structure Timing will begin with the first official movement or voice, or the first note of music, whichever comes first. The music portion of your routine may not exceed 1 ½ minutes for school divisions. Total routine length is limited to 2 ½ minutes for all School teams and 3 minutes for Recreation Teams ONLY. All performances must begin with each participant having at least one foot on the floor. Both feet leaving the floor constitute the beginning of the timed portion. If a routine is interrupted by equipment failure, the team will be permitted to perform their routine from the point which the disruption occurred. In case of injury the team may continue with the routine or withdraw from the competition. AWHS officials reserve the right to stop a routine in the case of injury. Music Coaches will be expected to start and stop their own music. If the routine more than 5 seconds over the times noted above, there will be a one point per second penalty for every second a routine exceeds the additional 5 free seconds overtime.
Awards and Judging Trophies will be given out according to the number of teams per division. We will also have a GRAND CHAMPION award for the highest scoring teams throughout the day! Judges will be experienced, qualified and impartial individuals with a UCA, high school, and/or college coaching backgrounds. Decisions made by the judging panel are final and may not be appealed. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES is a participant, coach, parent or fan permitted to question or approach a judge on score sheet or legality decisions. General Liability Cheerleaders will not be permitted to participate unless a medical waiver has been filled out. Please bring the waivers on the DAY of the competition. Archbishop Wood High School, Coaching Staff, Event Staff, Cheerleaders, Faculty, School Board and any Philadelphia District employee is not responsible for any injury to participants. Participants assume all risk and responsibility. Vendors and Medical Services Various venders will be available throughout the day. An athletic trainer will be available in case of emergency. General Competition Information Admission Fee: Cost will be $8.00 for adults, $3.00 for children, AWHS students, and senior citizens. Children under 3 years of age are Free! Concessions: There will be concessions available throughout the day in the high school cafeteria. Food items available will include hot dogs, pizza, soft pretzels, candy, soft drinks, bottled water, baked goods, etc. Parking: We will have Event Staff directing traffic in the parking lot for your convenience. School Buses are to drop cheerleaders off at the Registration Door located at the front entrance. Spectators must enter through the side entrance located on the right side of the school (south side). AWHS is not responsible for any violations for parking outside of the school. Medical Treatment and Liability Form EACH PARTICIPANT MUST HAVE A COMPLETED RELEASE FORM ON FILE DUE WITH TEAM REGISTRATION; PARTICIPANTS WITHOUT A MEDICAL FORM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT. I, the undersigned parent or guardian, do hereby grant permission for daughter/son,, and hereafter shall be referred to as "participant", to partake in the event(s) sponsored by Archbishop Wood High School Cheerleaders. In order that participant may receive the necessary medical treatment in the event of an injury or illness, I hereby release the Archbishop Wood Vikings Cheerleaders, Coaches, Parent Association, Athletic Department, facility and all representatives from any liability associated with the exercise of this authority. I further acknowledge and agree that in taking part in the above named event, there is a possibility of physical illness or injury by participating. I authorize Archbishop Wood Cheerleading Event Staff to obtain necessary medical treatment for the Minor and hereby, in my own behalf and on behalf of the Minor. I further agree to hold harmless, Archbishop Wood High School, including the parent association, directors, coaches, staff, athletic directors and all facilities in which the event(s) is held for any injury or illness incurred by participant during the course of the event. Please list any medication to which the participant is allergic or is currently taking. If participant is under medication, please check to make sure he/she brings his/her medication and that he/she takes the prescribed dosage. By signing both I and participant verify that I am the parent or guardian of the participant named above, that I have read and understand the conditions of this medical release form. I further acknowledge that I am fully aware of the dangerous nature of the sport my child is partaking in and will hold only myself liable for any resulting illness or injury (minimal, serious or catastrophic).
