The USS Midway is one of the longest serving aircraft carriers in the US Navy, operating from September 1945 until 1992. It is now one of the most visited ship museums in the world. The USS Midway has sailed in every ocean in the world and fought in the Vietnam War and in the first Persian Gulf War. She served not just as a warship but also has been involved in humanitarian efforts. In 1975, the Midway was off the coast of Vietnam to help evacuate South Vietnamese people fleeing from those who had taken over their country. Club Assembly Last week the La mesa Rotary held the first Club Assembly under new president Mark s term. We heard from Bonnie Welch on the Community Service projects she is working on, Guy Elam on the FUN activities he has planned for the club, Steve Looser & Jack Dragitz on the Membership Committee, and Ron Morell on the Budget. This is always a great time for members to bring up and questions or concerns they may have with the club or the board of directors. Thank you all for your updates! Comedy Hypnotist Fundraiser Save the Date Friday September 11th! will be having their next FUNDRAISER at the La Mesa Community Center. It will be a very fun night of Comedy! The show will star our very own Marsha Starr as the Hypno Diva! We will also have a fun auction with plenty of great prizes. Every member of the will be asked to participate in the fundraiser either by buying tickets, donating items, or selling show tickets or raffle tickets! Becky Schwartz has passed out a packet to every member containing some flyers for the event, 2 tickets at $25 each, and 5 Raffle Prize tickets at $10 each. There is also an envelope with your name on it. Once you sell the tickets you should raise $100. Put that $100 in the envelope and give back to Becky. You can also get additional tickets from Becky! The Raffle prizes include a Samsung Galaxy 4 Tablet, I-Pad, or 1-Week Lodging in Cabo San Lucas! There will also be auction items at the event. If you can donate any items to this auction please notify Becky. Please help our club by participating! So Save The Date! This will be a really fun evening!
