Xtreme Allstars Cheerleading and Hip/Hop Handbook Website: www.xtremeallstarcheer.com Facebook: Xtreme All-star Cheer Owner: Stephanie Jacoby Email for Xtreme Allstars: stephanien2162@yahoo.com Location: 446 Oil Tank Hill Road Northern Cambria, Pa 15714 Practices: Attendance This sport requires a lot of dedication. We practice 1-2 times a week. We also throw in extra practices closer to competitions. We do have a policy if you miss more than four practices; you will be dismissed by the program. Dancers are not allowed to miss more than six practices or you will be dismissed from the program. Unlike other sports, when one athlete is missing, the whole team cannot practice. It takes every single athlete to perform the routine. We do try to work around everyone s schedule, to the best of our ability. 1. Attendance at all practices is mandatory. Cheerleaders and dancers should arrive early to stretch prior to the practice start time. We will begin promptly at the start time. Do not be late. 2. Cheerleaders and dancers are expected to notify the coaches, personally, in advance of absences. The cheerleaders and dancers should provide a note verifying the practice date(s) missed and the reasons for missing. This should be done 2 weeks prior to the missed practice. 3. Cheerleaders and dancers are only permitted to leave a message with the coach if they cannot attend due to illness that day. 4. We realize emergencies may arise that are more important. Again, we must be notified in advance of the start of practice so that we can make arrangements for those practices. 5. Work, appointments, other social events, school functions, school sports etc.are not excusable absences. These events should be scheduled around practice times. 6. Injuries are not excusable absences. Cheerleaders and dancers should attend practice to at least watch, and we need a doctor s note stating limitations and time frame. If we don t have a note, then the cheerleader and dancer will be expected to participate in the entire practice.

7. Coaches will be keeping accurate records of attendance and tardiness. Excessive absences will result in dismissal from the team at the coach's discretion. This decision is finalized by the owner. 8. Cheerleaders & dancers must be dressed and ready to practice at the start time. They are expected to wear proper practice wear and have their hair back off of their face. NO jewelry is to be worn at practice. (Ex. Earrings, belly button rings, bracelets) CHEERLEADERS AND DANCERS NOT WEARING SHOES FOR PRACTICE MUST SIT UNTIL THEY HAVE SHOES!! Personal Belongings 1. Xtreme All Stars will not be responsible for lost or stolen items at practice. 2. Cheerleaders and dancers should NOT have cell phones on during practice. Cell phones should remain in locker room and only be used in extreme cases. They are not to be used during drink breaks, etc. 3. Cheerleaders and dancers are encouraged to bring their own drinks to practice. 4. First Aid and Ice will be supplied as needed by Xtreme All Stars. Xtreme All Stars will NOT provide tape, wraps, braces or medications. 5. Xtreme All Stars will keep items left at practice in a lost and found area. Items will be discarded at the end of the season. Behavior 1. Cheerleaders and dancers should be respectful of team members. They must leave any differences at the door. Members need to act as a team, cooperate, and tolerate every member for the best interest of the team. There is no I in TEAM, and we strongly follow this philosophy. We will NOT tolerate name calling, arguments, loud disputes or other disruptive activities involving members of the team. 2. Cheerleaders and dancers need to demonstrate good sportsmanship to all teams in this program and teams that we compete against. 3. Cheerleaders and dancers should be respectful of the practice facility. You will pick up trash from team rooms before leaving. Bathroom should be kept clean & neat.

4. Cheerleaders and dancers should be respectful of the coaches/owners decisions. Not everyone has to agree, nor will they, but disrespect will not be tolerated. As coaches, we will be glad to talk on a personal level AFTER practice about any problems, but our decisions will be final. They are for the best interest of the entire team and program. Any disagreements between coaches & cheerleaders and/or dancers can be brought to the owner s attention, and the owner will make the decision as to how it will be handled. Owner will usually agree with the coach unless it is felt the coach is incorrect. Any cheerleader or dancer quitting the team during the practice/competition season, will not be permitted back during the current competition season, and may not be able to return for future competition seasons. The coaches reserve the right to make any changes to members on teams at any time during the competition season!! 5. Cheerleaders and dancers need to demonstrate appropriate behavior that represents themselves, the team, and Xtreme All Stars. They should not be: smoking, drinking alcohol, abusing drugs, using inappropriate language, dressing explicitly or inappropriately, or displaying inappropriate behavior. Use and abuse of these unacceptable behaviors may result in immediate dismissal from the team. Appearance Jewelry 1. No jewelry at practices or competitions (earrings, watches, rings, tongue rings, necklaces, etc ) NO EXCEPTIONS!!! 2. Belly button rings must be covered for practices and removed prior to warm-ups at competitions. 3. Coaches will not be responsible for any jewelry at practices, competitions, or other events.

Hair/ Fingernails 1. For practice, hair should be pulled off of face. It should not be hanging down into face at any time during practices or competitions. 2. Girls are expected to wear the bows purchased by them to each competition. In the event the bow is lost, the cheerleader is responsible for purchasing a replacement. Dancer s hair will be decided by the dance coaches. 3. No fingernail polish should be worn to competitions/events and fingernails should be at an appropriate length. No fake fingernails they can cut the other bases and/ or flyers. Uniforms/Costumes 1. Uniforms/Costumes and shoes should be clean and neat for all events. There is to be NO STRAPS showing at a competition. Competitions We go to competitions all over the area. Competitions usually start in October. We usually do only travel in Pennsylvania. If the opportunity arises out of state, you must be willing to travel. We go to 15-20 competitions each season. Some teams may travel more than others and dance teams may not attend all these competitions as well. Also, we would like to host a cheer/dance competition yearly, which means we will need all parents volunteering to make it a success. Attendance is mandatory!! Failure to attend a competition will result in removal from position in routine and/or removal from the team altogether. This decision is decided by the Xtreme All Stars owner. Cheerleaders and dancers must remain at the competition from the beginning until the conclusion of awards, unless otherwise approved by the Xtreme All Stars owner/coaches. Awards 1. All cheerleaders and dancers must sit together as a team for awards on the floor. 2. Cheerleaders and dancers must be in full uniform for awards! 3. Coaches will choose the cheerleaders to receive the trophies. Each girl will be assigned a

competition to receive the trophy at. Injuries 1. If you are injured, you will still be required to attend the competition and pay all fees associated with that competition. Some exceptions may apply. Transportation 1. Parents or guardians must provide transportation to and from competitions/events and practices. 2. Cheerleaders and dancers are expected to be on time for all competitions/events regardless of transportation issues. 3. Addresses will be provided on the Xtreme All Stars website or on Facebook. Please be aware, these directions are found from MapQuest or Google Maps and may not be correct. Use your own discretion when finding location. Hotel Arrangements 1. Parents/guardians are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements for overnight trips. Some events Xtreme All Stars will have rooms blocked at nearby hotels, but no one is obligated to stay at those locations. Hotel arrangements and payments are made solely by the cheerleader s family. 2. Cheerleaders/Dancers and families are expected to follow all rules/guidelines set by the hotel you are staying at. 3. For competitions that require an overnight stay there will be a curfew. The curfew for all cheerleaders/dancers will be 10:00pm. You are to be in YOUR room by 10:00. Parents are not permitted in the practice area during any practice unless the coach advises otherwise (example: parent show, last little bit of time at each practice, etc). If you have any concerns you can speak to the coaches or owner AFTER the practice. DO NOT interrupt the practice. The consequence for this is not being able to wait inside the gym for your child. 2. Please try not to distract or disturb the cheerleaders/dancers for any length of time. Stephanie Jacoby has complete control over Xtreme All Stars. She will make any and all final decisions. She will seek the help of her coaching staff, but her decisions are final! Competition Rules and Information COMPETITIONS General Information: All competitions will be chosen by the Xtreme All Stars owner All teams will travel Some teams may travel more than others Attendance It is the parents responsibility to make sure your child has transportation to and from each competition. Xtreme All Star coaches and other xtreme parents are in no way responsible for your child's transportation. Please make sure to make arrangements if you are unable to attend a competition. Please arrive at all competitions before or at the time specified by your coach. No excuses for being late. It is your responsibility to make sure you are on time. All competitions are mandatory, meaning you can t get up the morning of a competition and just decide not to show up. It is not an option to miss a competition. Should you fail to appear at a competition without prior notification of and permission from the coaches, you may be removed immediately from the squad for the remainder of the season and pay the $400.00 quitting fee. If you are unable to attend a scheduled competition, a written excuse must be submitted to your team coach at least two months prior to the competition date. If possible, you will be replaced for that competition by an alternate. You are responsible for paying the competition. You will be replaced by the alternate, but will still receive the award if one is given. Also, please realize that it is possible that because you cannot attend the competition, your team may not be able to attend the competition. It is not considered acceptable to not be able to attend a competition. Therefore, this should be reserved for absolute situations that cannot be avoided. Injury If you must miss competition due to injury or hospitalization (the morning of a competition), call your team coach IMMEDIATELY! It is a good possibility that your squad may not be able to compete. There is no compensation given to any team members in this situation. It is the responsibility of the cheerleader to get her uniform to the alternate, regardless of whether the items will fit the other individual. Please make sure it is clean. All injured

cheerleaders are to be at all competitions (local and out-of-town). When a competition is missed (either due to injury, illness or other reasons) and it requires the alternate to perform in your absence, it may require you to sit out additional competitions due to the competition schedule (either before or after the missed competition ) so that the routine can be reworked to accommodate your absence. Alternates Alternates will be selected on an as needed basis. Coaches and owners discretion as to the costs associated with this will be discussed with the individuals upon the situation occurring. General Behavior Guidelines All cheerleaders are to report to the floor for awards. There will be a responsible adult sitting with each squad. Each cheerleader (regardless of age) needs to report to their coach if they need to leave the floor for any reason. Each child s safety is the responsibility of the parents. Please make sure you are aware of where your child is located at all times. Please make sure you child is aware of the rules and follows them for the safety of everybody involved. Cheerleaders (and families) are not permitted to be walking around in the gym during any squad s routine. We are to show respect for any teams competing. This means please wait to move around, get drinks, etc. until there is not anyone performing. Thank you. It is also expected that all cheerleaders and friends/family be respectful and polite to the members and fans of all other programs. We will not tolerate poor sportsmanship from our athletes or their parents. Cheerleaders and/or parents that repeatedly display poor sportsmanship will be removed from the program. Cheerleaders are to sit and cheer on the other teams. Cheerleaders are to respect and obey orders coming directly from the coaches. Sometimes situations occur at competitions that are out of the coach s control. Do NOT for any reason yell at the coaches, judges, or any person in charge at the competition. Cheerleaders are not to leave the competition for any reason. No smoking, swearing or handling yourself in an improper behavior. This could be grounds of dismissal from the program. Parents and cheerleaders are never to call any competition company for any reason. All hair should be done prior to arriving at competitions. The coach and Xtreme All Star owner reserve the right to make any cheerleader dancers change how their hair style is presented if it is not appropriate for competition. Dancers are to wear their hair the way the dance coach seems fit. It must be done like this for every competition. If your competition fees are not paid by the deadline, you will be charged an additional $10.00 late fee for each week it is past due. Please be prompt on returning paperwork and competition fees. These need to be mailed in prior to each competition. If they are sent in late, late fees are required by Xtreme all stars. Regardless of the reason why an individual is not participating in a competition it is the responsibility of the individual that has a permanent spot on a team to pay the competition fees. No refunds will be given once a cheerleader has quit for any competition fees once the due date has past. If an Xtreme team does not go to a scheduled competition and if competition fees are refunded by the cheerleading company, the money will be put back into your Xtreme account after the refund check has been received.
