Men s Section Thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets supporting James and Nick at the Junior State Championships. You probably know by now that James and Nick were runners up in the Pairs and James went on to win Gold in the final of the State fours. This is a fantastic result and well deserved. Anyone who has played with James and Nick could not help but be impressed by their abilities and good nature, we wish them well in their future endeavours. Lewis is preparing for the District under 25 s and on behalf of all members we wish him every success. Great to see our Lady President Barbara at the Club last Saturday, we hope it s not too long before Barbara and Don are back on the green. On behalf of those attending, I would like to thank Graham Jewell for organising Thursday Night Snooker, thanks too for the assistance of Tim, Darryl and Shane. I would encourage more of our members to join in, it s a great night and Margy cooks up a very tasty Steak Sandwich and chips for $10.00. Some might think $10.00 is a bit much for a steak sandwich but it actually feeds either a really, really hungry person or a family of four. Thanks to Margaret Dahl for donating the screens in the dining room, they look great and I m sure are much appreciated by our members and guests. Thanks to Tim Powell for the pot plants in the dining room, they too help brighten the room and add to the comfort of diners. Members will have noticed the minimum length for an end mark has been changed, now 21 metres. Nominations for playing District Singles, Pairs and Fours are on the board, nominations close May 15 th. Open to all male members of our Club as long as you are a full financial member. Nomination fee is $16.00 per player and is to be paid to the Men s Section Secretary (Bob Graham) by May 8. Cheers Bob. Ladies Section April has been another busy month with the ladies visiting, Kilcoy, Ferny Grove, Glasshouse and Stafford and I am pleased to report that the Woodford ladies had a win at Glasshouse. Our own Financial Day was a great success and thank you to all the ladies for their help in making it such a good day. Woodford was represented in the District Ladies Triples at Solander Lake by Lorna Smith, Ros Graham and Pam Harman and the three ladies with the addition of Marg Dahl also competed in the District Challenge Match against Cunningham at Kilcoy and the District Fours competition which was held at Woodford. The Club Championship finals for the Singles and Pairs Compeititons will be held between Ros Graham vs Lorna Smith and Ros Graham & Lorna Smith vs Marg Dahl & Peteena Holder. Well done to all ladies for their bowling successes during the month. Don t forget the Wander into Woodford on 12 May, Ladies Meeting on 13 May, Trivia Night on 14 th and Coaching clinic on 15 th Finally, on behalf of all the lady members, our best wishes are sent to Barbara our Lady President for a speedy return to bowling. Regards, Pam
