Standards: Maintains the entry altitude, +/- 100 feet, airspeed +/- 10 knots, bank +/- 5-degrees, and rolls out on the entry heading +/- 10-degrees 2. Slow flight and stalls: Maneuvering during slow flight and power-on/off stalls Maneuvering During Slow Flight (AFH 4-1 / PTS 2-24 PVT AND 2-25 COMM) Conduct clearing turns and clear the area BGUMPFFS Boost pumps on, Gas (fuel selectors) on, Undercarriage down (below 140 KIAS), Mixtures full forward, Props full forward, Flaps (down on profile), Flaps (cowl) open, Seat belts fastened State "I perform this maneuver at 3,500 feet on a heading of xxx-d" Power 13 MP Airspeed below 140 KIAS, Gear down Airspeed below 110 KIAS, Flaps 10-degrees Conduct a level deceleration maintaining heading and altitude Flaps 35-degrees Decelerate aircraft to point where any further increase in angle of attach, increase in load factor, or reduction in power will cause a stall operate 3 5 knots above that speed. Note high pitch attitude and sluggish control response Maintain airspeed with pitch and altitude with power Standards: Maintains altitude +/- 100 feet, heading, +/- 10- degrees, airspeed +/- 10 knots, and specified angle of bank +/- 10-degrees Recovery (identical to Balked Landing) Simultaneously apply maximum power and pitch for Vy Accelerating through 71 KIAS, Flaps up Positive rate of climb, Gear up

Level-off at specified altitude and configure for cruise or as designated by examiner Power-on Stall (AFH 4-8 / PTS 2-25 PVT AND 2-27 COMM) Conduct clearing turns and clear the area BGUMPFFS Boost pumps on, Gas (fuel selectors) on, Undercarriage up, Mixtures full forward, Props full forward, Flaps up, Flaps (cowl) open, Seat belts fastened State "I will begin this maneuver at 3,500 feet on a heading of xxx-d" Power 13 MP and conduct a level deceleration Upon reaching Vy, simultaneously conduct the following: Establish approximately 15-degrees pitch-up Set 18 MP Bank left/right 20-degrees +/- 10-degrees As the stall occurs, recover promptly by simultaneously reducing the angle of attack, increasing power to maximum allowable, and leveling the wings Focus on minimum altitude loss Recovery Accelerate to Vy Level-off at specified altitude and configure for cruise or as designated by examiner Standards: Complete task no lower than 3,000 feet AGL, sets power no less than 65%, and maintains heading, +/- 10-degrees in straight flight, maintains a specified angle of bank not to exceed 20-d +/- 10-d in turning flight. Power-off Stall (AFH 4-7 / PTS 2-24 PVT AND 2-26 COMM) Conduct clearing turns and clear the area BGUMPFFS Boost pumps on, Gas (fuel selectors) on, Undercarriage up, Mixtures full forward, Props full forward, Flaps down on profile, Flaps (cowl) open, Seat belts fastened

State "I will begin this maneuver at 3,700 feet on a heading of xxx-d" Power 13 MP Airspeed below 140 KIAS, Gear down Airspeed below 110 KIAS, Flaps down incrementally Conduct a level deceleration to normal approach speed Fly a simulated base to final Reduce power and smoothly raise nose to an attitude that induces a stall As the stall occurs, recover promptly by simultaneously reducing the angle of attack, increasing power to maximum allowable, and leveling the wings Focus on minimum altitude loss Recovery (identical to Balked Landing) Simultaneously apply maximum power and pitch for Vy Accelerating through 71 KIAS, Flaps up Positive rate of climb, Gear up Level-off at specified altitude and configure for cruise or as designated by examine Standards: Complete task no lower than 3,000 feet AGL, Maintains heading, +/- 10-degrees, in straight flight; maintains a specified angle of bank not to exceed 20-d +/- 10-d in turning flight. - 3. Emergency Operations: Emergency Descent, Engine Failure During Take-off Before Vmc (simulated), Engine Failure After Lift-off (simulated), Approach and Landing with an Inoperative Engine (simulated) Emergency Descent Conduct clearing turns and clear the area BGUMPFFS Boost pumps on, Gas (fuel selectors) on, Undercarriage down on profile, Mixtures full forward, Props full forward, Flaps up, Flaps (Cowl) close, Seat Belts fastened. Select an entry altitude and heading

Propellers 2700 RPM (full forward) Throttles Idle Airspeed 140 KIAS, Landing Gear Down recover Demonstrate Emergency Descent for approximately 1,000 feet and Recovery Airspeed below 112 KIAS, Gear up Level-off at specified altitude and heading Power approximately 18 MP Props 2300 RPM Mixtures lean fro cruise Cowl flaps as required Engine Failure After Lift-off and In-flight (simulated) After recognizing power loss and associated yaw and roll, state and perform: Maintain directional control, pitch attitude, and airspeed Mixtures full forward Propellers full forward Throttles full forward Landing gear up Flaps up Identify dead foot and dead engine Throttle (simulated INOP engine) - verify and close Propeller (simulated INOP engine) feather (above 3, 000 feet AGL) or as directed by MEI/examiner Mixture decide whether to shutdown or land

Vmc Demonstration (AFH 12-2 / PTS 2-34 PVT AND 2-35 COMM / POH 4-18) As altitude increases, the Duchess produces less power because of the reduced air density entering the engine induction system. The power loss will result in a Vmc lower than stall speed at higher altitudes. Therefore, always recover at the first indication of loss of directional control, stall warning, or buffet (See Figure 12-21, page 12-30, AFH). Vmc defined: minimum control speed with the critical engine inoperative Under the small airplane certification regulations currently in effect, the flight test pilot must be able to (1) stop the turn that results when the critical engine is suddenly made inoperative within 20-d of the original heading, using maximum rudder deflection and a maximum of 5-d bank, and (2) thereafter, maintain straight flight with not more than a 5-d bank. Performing the Vmc Demonstration: Conduct clearing turns and clear the area BGUMPFFS Boost pumps on, Gas (fuel selectors) on, Undercarriage up, Mixtures full forward, Props full forward, Flaps up, Flaps (Cowl) open, Seat Belts fastened. Select an entry altitude and heading Power 13 MP Airspeed below 90 KIAS close left throttle (left cowl flap closed) Right throttle full open without delay Maintain heading by banking 5-d into operating engine and applying rudder Increase pitch attitude at approximately 1 knot per second At approximately 85 KIAS Recover at first sign of: Loss of directional control First indication of stall Recover by simultaneously reducing power on the operating engine and decreasing the angle of attack as necessary to regain control within 20-d of original heading Continue recovery by increasing power slowly on operating engine, then increasing power on simulated failed engine; accelerate to 120 KIAS with minimal loss of altitude Re-establish cruise at 120 KIAS and adjust cowl flaps

Standards: Recognize indications of loss of directional control, stall warning or buffet Recover promptly by simultaneously reducing power sufficiently on the operating engine while decreasing the angle of attack as necessary to regain airspeed and directional control Recover within 20-d of the entry heading and advance power smoothly on operating engine and accelerate to Vxse / Vyse, as appropriate, +/- 5 knots, during the recovery. Drag Demonstration The Drag Demonstration proves that the optimal rate of climb occurs at Vyse in a clean configuration. The demo also illustrates performance penalties when an aviator does not fly a light twin at the optimal configuration. Performing the Drag Demonstration: Conduct clearing turns and clear the area open Mixtures - full forward, Props- full forward, Gear - up, Flaps - up, Cowl flaps Power - 13" and decel to 85 KIAS Left throttle - idle (left cowl flap closed) Right throttle - full power (right cowl flap remains open) Maintain 85 KIAS - Note VSI Pitch for 70 - Note VSI Pitch for 90 - Note VSI Pitch for 85, Gear - down, Note VSI Maintain 85, Flaps - down, Gear - still down, Note VSI Gear - up, Flaps - still down, Note VSI Flaps - up, Note VSI Maintain 85, set zero thrust (Prop lever to detent and power 8 " MP), Note VSI Re-establish training cruise, 120 KIAS (throttles - 17-18, props - 2300, mixtures leaned, cowl flaps - closed
