THE STRAIGHT SHOOTER JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2018 P.O. Box 4966 Foster City, CA 94404 A message from Anni Anni Wunderlich President Hello everybody: Here we are into January 2018 already, and we re having rain, glorious rain. We had a very successful 2017, and I know we can look forward to a equally successful 2018. Just to refresh your memories of the last two months: November 4 was Tick Tock with the DJ Duke, Gary Clayton; November 18 was Pumpkin Patch with DJ s Jeanette and Bernie; December 2 was Crazy Hat with DJ s Van and Celia; December 16 was Christmas Shopping with DJ Susan Sparkles Dodge; December 31 was our Glitz at the Ritz presents Top Hats and Gowns. The Masonic Lodge ballroom is so elegant, and the Decorating Divas made it even more so. I don t think there was a person in attendance that didn t enjoy themselves, and Mike and Joyce did a super job of keeping the floor filled all night. It s a wonderful way to spend New Year s Eve, dancing for the health of it with people you really like. Once again our very generous donor came forth, which allows the Club to only charge $35 members and $40 non members. Where else can one experience so much for so little. Thank you, thank you. January 3 was Baby Face which allowed the DD s to have a well earned rest, the dancers provided the decorations INSIDE THIS ISSUE Page 2 Line Dance Lessons Page 3 Club News & Places to dance Page 4 & 5 Pictures Pages 6,7, 8, & 9 Dance Schedules E-Mail: quicksteppers@yahoo.com Website: countryquicksteppers.org by bringing a baby photo and attaching it to the wall behind their chair. Van and Celia were the DJ s and they kept the floor filled with very happy dancers. Coming up: DOUG and JACKIE S You Can Dance 6 on January 20. at THE COMPLEX. Doors open at 11:00 AM, for registration, with open dancing starting at 11:30 AM; the Workshop starts at 12:00 PM 5:00 PM and Cathy and Claudio will be the DJ s. Doug and Jackie will be teaching beginner, high beginner, intermediate and maybe advanced with open dancing in between. Snacks and water will be provided all day. There will be a 2 hour break for dinner, and our regular evening dance Club Night will be from 7:00 10:00 PM with The DJ Duke, Gary Clayton. Don t forget to wear your Club T-shirt. IF YOU HAVEN T SENT IN YOUR RESERVATION, PLEASE DO. February 3.. Quicksteppers Bonanza Bake-off, with DJ s Mike and Joyce. So far we have these bakers signed up. Allen Abraham, Pete Iversen, Lester Murphy, Helene Shingh, Irene Taylor. Claudio Dacumos claims he s going to bake something, but Cathy said it s not happening in her kitchen. So if you would like to join in the fun, please sign up for the challenge. There will be taste judges, and they will decide the winners. Prizes will be a Trader Joe s gift card.. 1st prize $50, 2nd prize $40, and 3rd prize $30. Runners up will receive a CQ s free entrance gift card. February 17, Grand Ole Opry with DJ s Jeanette and Bernie. Every morning you are handed twenty-four golden hours. What will you do with your priceless treasure? Remember, you must use it, as it is given only once. Once wasted, you cannot get it back. Happy New Year. Anni

NEW YEAR S EVE IN MEMORIUM It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of two longtime members of our line dance family. Over the Christmas holiday, we lost Richard Wunderlich, husband of our club president Anni Wunderlich, and Dolores Meeks, who delighted us for many years with her fabulous decorations at our dances. They will both be greatly missed by the line dance community, and we offer our condolences to their families.
