Notice of Race NWISA Fall Championship Ranking Regatta Olympia, Washington October 28-29th, 2017 1. HOST 1.1. This regatta is hosted by the Olympia Yacht Club High School Sailing Team, OYC Junior Program, Swantown Marina and The Port of Olympia. 2. RULES 2.1. The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing, as modified by the prescriptions of US Sailing, the ISSA procedural rules, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions. 2.2. The US Sailing Prescriptions to rules 63.2 and 63.4 will not be in effect. 2.3. Under rule 70.5(a), the right of appeal is denied. 3. ELIGIBILITY 3.1. This regatta is a Ranking Regatta as defined by the NWISA District Supplemental Rules. Ranking regattas may be attended by active or mixed teams. However, final scores by mixed teams or additional active teams (JV teams) will be removed from the official results and the regatta will be re-scored. For schools sending multiple Active teams, a Varsity team must be designated at registration. This Varsity team will be the team scored in the overall rankings. 3.2. Teams shall be comprised of a minimum of 4 sailors. Multiple teams per school are allowed (limited by boat availability). 3.3. Based on the number of teams registered a Silver fleet may be formed. If a Silver Fleet is sailed this fleet will constitute a separate regatta from the Gold fleet and will be considered an Open regatta. 4. FORMAT 4.1. The regatta will consist of an A and B division and will be sailed with one division on the water at a time. 5. ENTRY FEE & BEANIES 5.1. Entry fee for High School sailors is $12/sailor, fee includes: Snacks Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast Sunday for sailors parents may purchase for $5 after sailors, as long as supplies last. Breakfast will be served at the Olympia Yacht Club from 7:30-8:45am, Sunday 29th
5.2. Regatta Beanies will be sold separately, and are not included in Regatta fee. Cost: $12. Supplies are limited! 6. LAUNCHING AREA: 6.1. Teams bringing boats are to launch them at the Swantown Marina boat ramp next to the OAR boathouse (where we ve launched boats at previous regattas). Address: OAR Boathouse, 1022 Marine Dr NE, Olympia, WA 98501 Do not go to the Yacht Club OR Port Plaza to launch boats 6.2. Fire lane cannot be blocked during unloading or loading of boats - it must be kept open! 6.3. After teams have rigged and launched boats, A Fleet sailors and boats will be towed around to the Racing Area at 9:30am promptly! 7. RACING & VIEWING AREA: 7.1. Racing will take place at Port Plaza, using the Port Plaza dock to rotate off-of. Address: 701 Columbia St NW, Olympia, WA 98501 7.2. Parking and public restrooms are located directly behind Anthony s Restaurant at the Olympia Farmer s Market next to the stage. 7.3. The Olympia Farmer s Market has hot drinks, local foods and crafts. Downtown Olympia is only 5 minutes away. Ralph s Bayview Thriftway is next door to the Olympia Yacht Club and is a good option for grocery shopping close to the race venue. 8. BOATS 8.1. Boat allocations will be determined based on district supplemental rules boat allocation procedures. 8.2. All boats must have a 20ft or longer bowline - boats will be towed to racing area! 8.3. The Regatta will be sailed in FJs. If needed, a silver fleet may race in either FJs or 420s. 9. OVERNIGHT BOAT STORAGE 9.1. Overnight boat storage and trailer parking, are available in the north viewing parking lot above the OAR facility where boats will be launched (see 6.1), more details will be shared at the Skippers Meeting. 10. SKIPPERS MEETING & CHECK-IN 10.1. The Skippers Meeting will take place at Port Plaza next to the watch tower. 10.2. Check-in will be located at Port Plaza as well in an event tent. 11. REGISTRATION 11.1. Registration opens 10/16/17 at 11:00am. Eligible schools shall submit their intent to participate, total number of sailors attending and number of boats they can bring to the NWISA registration spreadsheet no later than 10/23/17 @ 10:00pm. Additional registrations are allowed after this time, but teams may be turned away if boats are
unavailable. There will be no morning of registration, but teams will be required to check in at the registration table. 11.2. Please print, and fill out our Medical/Liability waivers for each participating sailor and turn in during check-in with regatta fees. 12. HOUSING 13.1. We will attempt to accommodate all teams who require housing. However priority will go to those traveling the furthest. Olympia Yacht Club Youth Junior Sailing: High School Sailing Program Liability Agreement Waiver I understand that sailing, and all activities involved around and during sailing programs of any nature are inherently dangerous, and may lead to injury, harm or death. In consideration of my child participating in the Olympia Yacht Club Youth or High School Sailing programs as a guest, participant or student, I agree to accept all risk of injury to my child, to hold the Olympia Yacht Club, its officers, directors, employees, and members harmless, released, and indemnified from any claims, of any nature whatsoever arising out of the activities of the Junior Sailing or High School Sailing Program. Should my child be in need of medical treatment, my signature below confirms my permission for this to be done in the event that I cannot be reached promptly.
