Race 1 GLAM GIRL ACCESSORIES SV 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: DIG A PONY that was fractious in the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the start and was passed fit to run. A representative of trainer P Moody was advised a warning would be issued against the filly for its manners at the start. DE LAGO STORM proved difficult to load and trainer H Barry was advised the colt would be stood down until gaining a further approval to race. DE LAGO STORM and NO ISSUES were slow to begin. In the early and middle stages of the race DANCE THE BEAT raced wide without cover before taking up closer to the rail near the 600m.
Near the 700m ARDIMENTO was hampered when tightened for room between NO ISSUES which shifted out slightly and FAL SUN which shifted in slightly. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight ELEGANT ATTIRE was held up and unable to uphold a clear run. Jack Hill rider of ARDIMENTO which raced below market expectation could offer no explanation for its slow performance other than the gelding did not handle today s track conditions and raced greenly. D Yendall rider of MIO DIO was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in after passing the winning post and hampering HAYJAYWALK. A post race veterinary examination of ARDIMENTO failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider J Maskiell rider of NO ISSUES was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions AR.137(a). The careless riding being that passing the 600m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Ardimento resulting that gelding having to be checked. J Maskiell permit to ride in races suspended for a period of eight meetings two metro and six provincial, commencing midnight 30th June 2013 and expiring midnight 8th July 2013-- In accessing penalty Stewards deemed the incident in the low range and took into account his good riding records. Race 2 PEARSON S NURSERY MAIDEN HURDLE- 3200 metres: CHATHAM ROAD which was subject to a pre-race vet examination was found to be lame in the off foreleg, as a result of this Stewards ordered the withdrawal at 10:25 am. Quinton Scott trainer of CHATHAM ROAD was notified that prior to racing again he must produce a certificate of fitness. DOWNES jumped away awkwardly. APPLEBOTTOM jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. LUCKY LINDSAY was slow to begin (2L). LUCKY LINDSAY jumped the first hurdle awkwardly. UNIVERSAL SOUND jumped the second hurdle awkwardly. KING OF AFRICA raced wide without cover. KING OF AFRICA jumped the eighthhurdle awkwardly and lost ground. After jumping the ninth hurdle QUINTIN was hampered by UNIVERSAL SOUND which jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Approaching the second last hurdle UNIVERSAL SOUND had to be eased when tightened for room between WHITE KNIGHT and DOWNES which was taken out by AGORAPHOBIC. B Small rider of WHITE KNIGHT pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 500m on the first occasion when not sufficiently clear of UNIVERSAL SOUND resulting in UNIVERSALE SOUND clipping that horses heels and knuckling. B Small had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period o f 3 races commencing midnight 30 June 2013 and to expire after the second race for jumping riders at Casterton on 7 July 2013. Stewards took into account B Small s good riding record and that the incident was deemed to be in the low range. Race 3 FUN4KIDS FESTIVAL WARRNAMBOOL MAIDEN HURDLE 3200 metres: Throughout the race WACHEEM raced wide without cover. At the ninth fence MUST HAVE jumped awkwardly knuckled on landing and fell. As a result of this WACHEEM which was racing to the outside of MUST HAVE was brought down. As a consequence FER DE LANCE, CALENDAR OF FOOLS and YOU LL KEEP which were following were both severely hampered. At the second last hurdle FER DELANCE jumped awkwardly knuckled on landing and lost ground.
Prior to correct weight being declared P Hamblin rider of KAROO second placegetter lodged a protest second against first alleging interference over the last 100m. On the evidence SANCTUARY shifted out near the 50m and inconvenienced KAROO taking it wider on the course however with the ¾ length margin stewards couldn t be comfortably satisfied that the interference affected the result of the race. The Protest was dismissed and correct weight declared. At a later enquiry J Allen rider of SANCTUARY was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out and inconvenience KAROO. A post race veterinary examination of WACHEEM after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post race veterinary examination of MUST HAVE after the race revealed a bled from both nostrils due to external trauma and was there for not deemed to be a bleeder under the rules of racing. Both Wacheem and Must Have will be referred to the jumps review panel for assessment Race 4 KEVIN LAFFERTY HURDLE - 3600 metres: J McLean trainer of MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC was fined $200.00 for failing to lodge his rider on time. The start was delayed 12 minutes due to rider T Wells being in the care of the Course Doctor. At the hurdle entering the straight on the first occasion DUBHDARA and ALLANTHUS both jumped awkwardly. Prior to correct weight being declared J Hateley rider of MACEDONIAN third placegetter lodged a protest against Gotta Take Care being declared second alleging interference after passing the 500m. The protest was dismissed as Stewards were of the opinion that Wells had contributed to the interference by also shifting in at this point. At a later enquiry Stewards severely reprimanded B McLean rider of WELLS for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MACEDONIAN after passing the 500m. In not laying a charge against B McLean the Stewards took into account at this point that GOTTA TAKE CARE when laying out also shifted out slightly. ALLANTHUS jumped away awkwardly and shifted out bumping GOTTA TAKE CARE. When questioned regarding his tactics adopted on MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC, rider B Small stated he was reported to lead and when his mount was jumping well through the early stages, he was reluctant to restrain. B Small added upon entering the course proper on the first occasion he was able to ease his mount and position himself one length off the leader ALLANTHUS. Rider L Horner was questioned regarding his tactics adopted upon ALLANTHUS that lead the field L Horner stated that after picking up the ride he was instructed to lead on ALLANTHUS which is normal to its current racing pattern however after being taken on in the early stages by MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC he elected to allow his mount to stride forward. L Horner further explained that in hindsight he may have been better to ease his mount and allow MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC to take up the lead. Stewards noted L Horner s explanation. Allanthus which was eased out of the race and did not negotiate the final two hurdles will be referred to the jumps review panel for assessment S Pateman rider of BLACK AND BENT was fined the sum of $200 for using his whip 6 times in a forehand manner prior to the 100m which is one more than permitted under the rules of racing. Race 5 WARRNAMBOOL FOOTBALL CLUB MAIDEN PLATE- 1400 metres:
The advertised start time 1:20pm. Amended start time 1:29pm. MERRY YEOMAN and CHICAGO CHICK bumped after the start and as a result lost some ground. BIANBOBBY raced wide and without cover. MELISENT was held up for a short distance upon straightening. During the running of the event SOUTHERN ALLIANCE lost its near fore plate. Rider M Payne reported upon return to scales that CHICAGO CHICK may have been slightly lame, a post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore. Trainer P Payne was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness must be presented before CHICAGO CHICK is next presented to race. BIG PADDY was eased down over the later stages rider J Lyon reported the gelding was not suited by the heavy track conditions a veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities Race 6 BOWMAN FINANCIAL SERVICES 0-62 HCP- 1400 metres: HOLLY HOLY was a late scratching at 8:25am by order of the Stewards. Stewards accepted the explanation of W Walters however reminded him of his obligations under the rules of racing. ANANAIS that was having its first race start since April 2012 as a result of a bruised heel, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run. Advertised start time 1:55pm. Actual start time 2:03pm after holding for an event from Menangle Harness. SOUTH STREET and BATTLEMENT were checked after the start when tightened between MISS BELISTIC that shifted out marginally and SARIDEN that shifted in. JAYANTA jumped awkwardly. SHELBYVILLE jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. BRINKLEY BULLET raced wide without cover. Approaching the 400m SHELBYVILLE had to shift out to avoid the heels of SOUTH STREET. Passing the 100m rider J Cartwright (JAHAN) accidentally dropped his whip. A short distance after passing the winning post JAYANTA fell. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed JAYANTA to be deceased. When questioned regarding the performance of Cent to save that settled at the rear of the field rider B Rawiller reported the mare was uncomfortable in the heavy ground and only ran on fairly in the straight. Race 7 THACKERAY STEEPLECHASE - 3450 metres: Advertised start time 2:35pm. Amended start time 2:40pm. Start was further delayed when holding for an event for Menangle Harness. P Payne trainer of LORD OF THE SONG was fined $200.00 for failing to lodge his rider by rider declaration time. ZAMAN was a late scratching at 1:20pm by order of the Stewards after co-trainer B Johnston made application to scratch the gelding when its rider P Gallagher was injured and therefore unfit to fulfil this engagement.
The reasons being that ZAMAN was transitioning from hurdles to steeple fences. For this reason Mr Johnson would have preferred to replace P Gallagher with a rider who had previously ridden or schooled the gelding. As none of the available riders on course had done this Stewards exceeded to his request. KIRRIBILLI GOLD was slow in stride. HALF MOON RISING over raced through the early stages. REGAL HEIR was eased down after jumping the ninth obstacle and retired from the event. A post veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an injury to its near fore tendon. Trainer C Maher was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before REGAL HEIR is next presented to race. CATS FUN jumped the second last awkwardly. KIRRIBILLI GOLD was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Race 8 2013 TROA/LUXBET WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES HEAT 7-1400 metres: Rider T Sadler was fined $300.00 under the provisions AR.92(12) for being unable to fulfil his engagement upon ITALIAN MACHINE due to being overweight. ITALIAN MACHINE that was fractious and reared in the barriers was removed from such, examined by the club veterinary surgeon and deemed unfit to start. Stewards subsequently ordered the late scratching of ITALIAN MACHINE at 3:15pm. Prior to Correct Weight an announcement was made with regard to betting deductions. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets EVENMOREACTION - 1 cents Place Bets (For Winner) EVENMOREACTION - 3 cents Place Bets (For 2) - FEELING INVINCIBLE 3 cents Place Bets (For 3) SOPHROSYNE 3 cents *All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Trainer M Williams was advised a warning would be issued against ITALIAN MACHINE for its manners in the barriers. LUCKYI MBAREFOOT was slow to begin before being hampered after the start by OVERTAKE that shifted in. SOPHROSYNE shifted out after the start brushing GLANEUSE that in turn was hampered when taken out onto FIVE O CLOCK. SOPHROSYNE that raced wide and without cover, over raced through the early and middle stages. FIVE O CLOCK raced wide through the early and middle stages and got its head up when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover.
OVERTAKE that settled mid field, was eased down by its rider over the later stages. Rider B Rawiller reported the gelding was not comfortable in today s heavy track conditions and lacked desire. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post race veterinary examination of HIPPOPOTAMUS that performed poorly revealed no abnormalities. Rider J Cartwright reported the gelding was not suited by today s heavy track conditions. Race 9 SCHWEPPES 0-62 HANDICAP - 1400 metres: SON OF COCO was a late scratching at 8:25am by order of the Stewards. Stewards accepted the explanation of W Walters however reminded him of his obligations under the rules of racing. NORTON BELLE jumped away awkwardly. PRIME REASON raced wide without cover. ILLUSIONARY STAR was held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Near the 150m MELODY ROCK that was under pressure, had to be steadied when tightened to the inside of LITTLE GAZ that shifted in marginally under pressure. Race 10 WDEA COUNTRY SHOWCASE 0-68 HCP- 1700 metres: SOLITARY MAN was a late scratching at 8:25am by Order of the Stewards. Stewards accepted the explanation of W Walters however reminded him of his obligations under the rules of racing. KERFORD jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. SINGLE WARRIOR raced wide without cover. KERFORD that settled at the rear of the field was under pressure rounding the home turn before being eased down by its rider. J Innes Jnr was severely reprimanded for using his whip on a horse out of contention. Rider B Rawiller was questioned regarding this tactics adopted upon MOST HUSBANDS. B Rawiller explained that MOST HUSBANDS was not a horse you can bustle out of the barrier and therefore his normal racing pattern is towards the rear of the field. B Rawiller further explained that in the previous race today he had attempted to take a run on the inside of the track however after that race he believed that the better going was towards the outside. B Rawiller stated that he wanted to keep his mount balanced around the home turn as he believed had he started urging MOST HUSBANDS along at that stage the gelding would not have finished the race off. Stewards noted B Rawiller s comments.
