Race 1 GLAM GIRL ACCESSORIES SV 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: DIG A PONY that was fractious in the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the start and was passed fit to run. A representative of trainer P Moody was advised a warning would be issued against the filly for its manners at the start. DE LAGO STORM proved difficult to load and trainer H Barry was advised the colt would be stood down until gaining a further approval to race. DE LAGO STORM and NO ISSUES were slow to begin. In the early and middle stages of the race DANCE THE BEAT raced wide without cover before taking up closer to the rail near the 600m.

Near the 700m ARDIMENTO was hampered when tightened for room between NO ISSUES which shifted out slightly and FAL SUN which shifted in slightly. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight ELEGANT ATTIRE was held up and unable to uphold a clear run. Jack Hill rider of ARDIMENTO which raced below market expectation could offer no explanation for its slow performance other than the gelding did not handle today s track conditions and raced greenly. D Yendall rider of MIO DIO was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in after passing the winning post and hampering HAYJAYWALK. A post race veterinary examination of ARDIMENTO failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider J Maskiell rider of NO ISSUES was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions AR.137(a). The careless riding being that passing the 600m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Ardimento resulting that gelding having to be checked. J Maskiell permit to ride in races suspended for a period of eight meetings two metro and six provincial, commencing midnight 30th June 2013 and expiring midnight 8th July 2013-- In accessing penalty Stewards deemed the incident in the low range and took into account his good riding records. B Small rider of WHITE KNIGHT pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 500m on the first occasion when not sufficiently clear of UNIVERSAL SOUND resulting in UNIVERSALE SOUND clipping that horses heels and knuckling. B Small had his permit to ride in races suspended for a period o f 3 races commencing midnight 30 June 2013 and to expire after the second race for jumping riders at Casterton on 7 July 2013. Stewards took into account B Small s good riding record and that the incident was deemed to be in the low range. Race 3 FUN4KIDS FESTIVAL WARRNAMBOOL MAIDEN HURDLE 3200 metres: Throughout the race WACHEEM raced wide without cover. At the ninth fence MUST HAVE jumped awkwardly knuckled on landing and fell. At the second last hurdle FER DELANCE jumped awkwardly knuckled on landing and lost ground.

Prior to correct weight being declared P Hamblin rider of KAROO second placegetter lodged a protest second against first alleging interference over the last 100m. On the evidence SANCTUARY shifted out near the 50m and inconvenienced KAROO taking it wider on the course however with the ¾ length margin stewards couldn t be comfortably satisfied that the interference affected the result of the race. The Protest was dismissed and correct weight declared. At a later enquiry J Allen rider of SANCTUARY was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out and inconvenience KAROO. A post race veterinary examination of WACHEEM after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post race veterinary examination of MUST HAVE after the race revealed a bled from both nostrils due to external trauma and was there for not deemed to be a bleeder under the rules of racing. Both Wacheem and Must Have will be referred to the jumps review panel for assessment Race 4 KEVIN LAFFERTY HURDLE - 3600 metres: J McLean trainer of MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC was fined $200.00 for failing to lodge his rider on time. The start was delayed 12 minutes due to rider T Wells being in the care of the Course Doctor. At the hurdle entering the straight on the first occasion DUBHDARA and ALLANTHUS both jumped awkwardly. Prior to correct weight being declared J Hateley rider of MACEDONIAN third placegetter lodged a protest against Gotta Take Care being declared second alleging interference after passing the 500m. The protest was dismissed as Stewards were of the opinion that Wells had contributed to the interference by also shifting in at this point. At a later enquiry Stewards severely reprimanded B McLean rider of WELLS for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MACEDONIAN after passing the 500m. In not laying a charge against B McLean the Stewards took into account at this point that GOTTA TAKE CARE when laying out also shifted out slightly. ALLANTHUS jumped away awkwardly and shifted out bumping GOTTA TAKE CARE. When questioned regarding his tactics adopted on MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC, rider B Small stated he was reported to lead and when his mount was jumping well through the early stages, he was reluctant to restrain. B Small added upon entering the course proper on the first occasion he was able to ease his mount and position himself one length off the leader ALLANTHUS. Rider L Horner was questioned regarding his tactics adopted upon ALLANTHUS that lead the field L Horner stated that after picking up the ride he was instructed to lead on ALLANTHUS which is normal to its current racing pattern however after being taken on in the early stages by MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC he elected to allow his mount to stride forward. L Horner further explained that in hindsight he may have been better to ease his mount and allow MAYTHEHORSEBEMAGIC to take up the lead. Stewards noted L Horner s explanation. Allanthus which was eased out of the race and did not negotiate the final two hurdles will be referred to the jumps review panel for assessment S Pateman rider of BLACK AND BENT was fined the sum of $200 for using his whip 6 times in a forehand manner prior to the 100m which is one more than permitted under the rules of racing. P Payne trainer of LORD OF THE SONG was fined $200.00 for failing to lodge his rider by rider declaration time. ZAMAN was a late scratching at 1:20pm by order of the Stewards after co-trainer B Johnston made application to scratch the gelding when its rider P Gallagher was injured and therefore unfit to fulfil this engagement.

The reasons being that ZAMAN was transitioning from hurdles to steeple fences.
