The 2012 Olympic Games The 2012 Olympic Games will be held in the city of London. London is in the country of England. London is the largest city in England. It is also England s capital. A lot of people will visit London during the time of the Olympic Games. The city of London will want to treat these visitors like guests. That is why the city that holds the Olympic Games is called a host city. Being a host city is a great honor, but it s also a lot of work! Directions: Below are two lists. The London Mascots For the 2012 Olympic Games, London has created two mascots to represent them. These mascots travel all around the country spreading the word about the Olympic Games. These two lovable mascots are said to have been created by the last two drops of steel used to make the Olympic Stadium in London. Both are very shiny. Both reflect like mirrors. Each has a camera lens for an eye. Also... F Wenlock is the official mascot of the Olympic Games. His head is shaped like the roof of Olympic Stadium. He has five bracelets on his wrist. They are the colors of the Olympic rings. He loves meeting people and learning about sports. F Mandeville is the official mascot of the Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games are played by athletes who have disabilities. He is constantly in motion and always trying to do better than he ever has. That is why he wears a timer on his wrist.
