Summer Good Times! FRIENDS, FUN and FIRST DOWNS! I cannot believe that fall is already here and football has started! How did the summer go by so quickly? Well, I believe that we had a very good summer at HLYC. The Harboritaville events were terrific. Thanks to everyone that sponsored the Harboritaville Saturday s and to all of the members that supported the club by attending. Great food and good times. Some of the events that we enjoyed this summer were: Cheeseburgers in Paradise, thanks to Pat Scott and his crew HLYC had a terrific entry in the Fourth of July Parade and won the Charles Arnold Award for best float, thanks to Bill & Annette Feller and Don & June Spaulding Dick s Garbage Can Dinner was a big hit again, thanks to Dick Anderson Louie Luau was a lot of fun thanks to Scott & Jenny Floyd and Scott s pig roasting crew, Howdy & Mikey The Cardboard Boat Race was a huge event for the club! Thanks to all of the participants that built race boats and regatta boats. Thanks to the planners, Jerrod & Michelle McFarland, John & Sherrie Dorn, Kelly & Fred Wensing and Mike & Marcia Christofferson. A portion of proceeds was donated to the Veteran s Outreach Project in Racine. NEW BUSINESS In the May/June Beacon I acknowledged the members that had donated to the Fryer/Cooler Fund. Since that edition, several members made contributions. Thanks to Becky Jones, Jimmy Andersen, Ron & Jean Shelby, Ken Waters, Ron Christensen and Wayne & Kathy Soder. We did not reach the total goal, but enough money was raised to cover the cost of the two new fryers and a late model deli cooler. An email letter was recently sent out to members regarding our Galley Food Service. As you know Joe & Tesa Schulte have become the clubs food service provider. I have enjoyed several meals prepared by them and I encourage all members to do the same. The success of Joe, Tesa and their crew will result in rewards for members of the club, as the club receives commissions from the Galley. Making the club a choice for some of your dining dollars will support the Galley staff and in turn support our club. We have plenty of events coming up. Please consult the Beacon and the bulletin board and look for Al s email updates. See you at the club! Ken Gall, Commodore

Cardboard Boat Race Celebrates 5 years Wow! Who would have thought 5 years ago that a silly little idea of building boats out of cardboard and duct tape would turn into possibly the busiest day HLYC has ever seen? Each year we have been able to evolve and grow into what we would now consider a successful community event. Without everyone s help that would not be possible. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that volunteered, donated, raced, paraded, attended, raffled, cooked (Blue Bear) and represented our fine club. This year we were able to give back to our Veterans through the Veteran s Outreach of Wisconsin. I hope everyone took a minute to walk through the tiny house on display. They are doing a great service for those that served our Country to allow us the freedom s we have been blessed with. Please support them in any way you can. Finally, by no means are we content or satisfied with our event. We re look forward to seeing more builders (racers and parade) next year. And, we ll work throughout the year to become more efficient and organized. So, expect next year to be even better! We look forward to seeing you all September 8th, 2018 for another great day that we can show off HLYC to the community! Sincerely, Cardboard Boat Race Committee Winning Race Team: Angry Brothers Bar

Olive Oil, Popeye and Brutus accept the Charles Arnold Award for Best Float in this year s 4th of July Parade. Well done crew!

The Pride of Harbor Lite Harbor Liter s shared some proud moments this summer. Clockwise top left Jeff and Lesli Hrouda vacationed on the island of Maui and lunched with his sister and grand daughter, Larkin at Lahaina. They used their HLYC membership and were welcomed as if they were members! Marcia & Mike Christofferson proudly celebrated daughter Ashley s marriage to LaQuan Fenderson Hanne Roepke celebrates her Danish heritage at the 4th of July Parade Big raffle winners enjoy an afternoon at Harboritaville Audrey Linnenkohl gets a warm hug from her 50 year old birthday boy, Georgie Al, Riggs and Norm show off their spirit of America and Harbor Lite! 2017 Jamie & Delmarie Brands Dan & Karen Cramer Herbert & Louise Gitzlaff Carol Jacoby & Jack Rashleger Jeff & Christine Jensen DJ & Savana Kohler Debra Murphy Randy & Kathy Musselman Charlie & Peggy Pallesen welcome aboard!
