2013 Tift Area Market Lamb & Meat Goat Show TIFT COUNTY LIVESTOCK MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING TIFTON, GEORGIA AUGUST 16 & 17, 2013 ATTENTION: The annual Tift Area Market Lamb and Meat Goat Show committee has implemented new rule changes that will take effect beginning at this year s show. Please take time to review and interpret the below rules and regulations as well as existing rules. We have attempted to accommodate the needs of exhibitors and or families involved in the 4-H and FFA Market Lamb and Meat Goat Project. **PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING RULE CHANGES** 1. MEAT GOAT Check in will be Friday August 16 from 3:30PM-6:00PM. MARKET LAMB Check in will be Friday August 16 from 2:30PM-4:00PM 2. THE MARKET LAMB SHOW WILL BE FRIDAY AUGUST 16, 2013 BEGINNING AT 6:30P.M. Market lambs will be dismissed following the show Friday night. 3. THE MARKET GOAT SHOW WILL BE SATURDAY AUGUST 17, 2013 BEGINNING AT 8:30 A.M. 4. ***DOES AND WETHERS WILL BE SHOWN SEPARATE IN THE MEAT GOAT SHOW*** 5. Exhibitors may enter up to Five meat goats or market lambs although No exhibitor can show more than THREE meat goats or market lambs. $10 entry fee for the 4 th and 5 th goat or lamb registered. 6. There will be limited space in the livestock barn for stalling of animals, which will be on a first come, first serve basis although ***Due to limited space STALLING AND SHOWING FROM YOUR TRAILER WILL BE ALLOWED.*** Once the animal is checked in by show officials, this animal is prohibited from leaving the premises until completion of exhibition. Any animals leaving the premises will be disqualified from the show(s). 7. An entry fee of $17.50 per animal must accompany entry forms. Entries postmarked after August 9 will be considered late, these entries must be accompanied with $27.50 per animal, and these entries must be received by August 15. Exhibitors wishing to enter on August 16 will pay $35.00 per animal.

2013 TIFT AREA MARKET LAMB SHOW TIFT COUNTY LIVESTOCK MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING TIFTON, GEORGIA FRIDAY, AUGUST 16, 2013 6:30 PM 1. Open to residents of the following Extension Southwest District counties; Baker, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Calhoun, Clay, Clinch, Colquitt, Cook, Crisp, Decatur, Dooly, Dougherty, Early, Echols, Grady, Houston, Irwin, Lanier, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marion, Miller, Mitchell, Peach, Pulaski, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Seminole, Stewart, Sumter, Taylor, Terrell, Thomas, Tift, Turner, Webster, Wilcox, and Worth. 2. Lamb classes open to Georgia 4-H and FFA members (plus pre-club age children, grades 1 to 4) who have tagged and entered their lambs in the Georgia State Show with their local county Extension agent or Vo-Ag teacher prior to July 15, 2013. 3. Lambs will be received Friday, August 16 with the barn opening at 12:00 Noon and weigh in being from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE IN THE BARN BY 4:00 P.M. Friday, August 16. Showmanship will begin at 6:30 p.m. Weight classes will follow. Market lambs will be dismissed following the show on Friday night. ** RULE 4. ALL LAMBS WILL BE WEIGHED IN BY A SHOW COMMITTEE OFFICIAL. THIS WILL BE THE OFFICIAL SHOW WEIGHT. 5. Entry forms due August 9. Entry fee of $17.50 per lamb must accompany entry forms. Exhibitors may enter up to Five Market lambs although maximum of three lambs per exhibitor will be shown. $10 entry fee for the 4 th and 5 th lamb. ** RULE 7. Any animals leaving the premises will be disqualified from the shows. 8. Entries must be wethers or ewe lambs (no ram lambs will be allowed). 9. All entries must have their tails docked. 10. All lambs must be trained for showing. 11. All lambs must weigh a minimum of 55 pounds. 12. All entries must have been born after January 1, 2013. 13. The exhibitor must show his/her own animal in showmanship classes. Exhibitors that have graduated High School will not be allowed to compete in showmanship classes. 14. Lambs must be shown by owner in weight and championship classes. A substitute showman must be approved by the show committee. 15. Decisions made by the livestock and lamb show committee regarding rules and regulations will be final. 16. Lamb must be in show condition (short fleeced, groomed and carded). 17. Any youth or adult using excessive force with lambs may be warned and asked to leave, if he or she continues. 18. All lambs must have health papers to participate in the show. A state inspector will be on hand for inspection of your lambs. All ewe lambs must have a USDA approved individual animal identification to the flock of origin (scrapie tag). 19. Complaints must be in writing accompanied by a $50 deposit. If the committee rules you have a legitimate complaint the $50 will be returned, if not the $50 deposit will be forfeited.

GOAT CHECK IN WILL BE FRIDAY, AUGUST, 16 FROM 3:30PM-6:00PM. ALL GOATS WILL BE WEIGHED IN BY A SHOW COMMITTEE OFFICIAL. THIS WILL BE THE OFFICIAL SHOW WEIGHT. Goat show will be Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 8:30 A.M. **DOES AND WETHERS WILL BE SHOWN SEPARATE. **New Rule Change** 7. Entry forms due August 9th. Exhibitors wishing to enter on August 16 will pay $35.00 per animal. Please be aware that for additional entries beyond 3 goats per exhibitor will only pay $10.00 per goat. There will be limited space in the livestock barn for stalling of animals, which will be on a first come, first serve basis. Due to limited space, **TRAILER STALLING ALLOWED** 8. The Show Committee will determine the number of classes based on the number of entries. 9. Entries must be wethers or does NO BUCKS. 10.Goats must have milk teeth. The Committee suggests that the show goats be born after January 1, 2013. Goat showing either or both of the first pair of permanent incisors will not be eligible to show. The committee has the right to mouth any goat that may appear to be past the suggested age requirement. 11. All goats must be dehorned or have horns tipped. 12. Clipping is highly encouraged. 13. All goats must be registered with your local 4-H or FFA advisor prior to August 1, 2013. 14. All entries must have an ear tag number listed on the entry form. This ear tag is for identification purposes only. 15. Showmanship: Exhibitors may have one goat only in showmanship. The goat shown must be owned by the exhibitor and be one of the three possible entries in the show. 16. THE SHOW WILL BE SATURDAY AUGUST 17, 2013 beginning at 8:30 A.M. **(Goats only on Saturday, Market Lamb Show is Friday)** 17. All goats must weigh a minimum of 35 pounds and maximum of 120 pounds. 18. Health regulations are identical to the GA National Fair regulations. All goats, except wethers, must be identified with USDA approved individual animal identification to the flock of origin (scrapie tag). The following statement must be recorded on the certificate of veterinary inspection for all goats including wethers: To the best of my knowledge, the animals being exhibited are free from any clinical signs consistent with those of footrot, scabies, contagious ecthyma (soremouth), cutaneous fungal lesions, scrapie or any other infectious or contagious disease. Goats may be inspected at the show facility for infectious and contagious diseases and those suspected of having disease will be removed from the show facility. 19. Complaints must be in writing accompanied by a $50 deposit. If the committee rules you have a legitimate complaint the $50 will be returned if not, the $50 deposit will be forfeited.
