AGE DATE SESION U10-U11 5 DESCRIPTION SIZE TIME DIAGRAM WU01 The Hunt 20x20 10 min Make a grid with cones 20x20. For 10 minutes players will be inside the square. 1 or 2 players are the HUNTED. The rest of the team is attempting to tag the hunted with the ball. The Hunters will run around freely and attempt to pass the ball from hunter to hunter. Players who have the ball may only take 3 steps with the ball. Hunters may pass the ball from player to player in an attempt to tag the Hunted 1 or 2 players who were selected. 10 minutes with 1 minute of rest if the game has to be restarted. WARM-UP WU07 - EYSA Technical Warm-up Technical warm up is an attempt to get as many touches on the soccer ball as possible in the first 25 minutes of the practice. Toe-taps, foundations, 1v1 core moves, inside cuts, outside cuts and stop and go movements should be encouraged in a free dribbling circuit inside a 20x20 grid. 4 minutes can be devoted to working on juggling and the rest should be on ball comfort. The coach will assign different movements that the players much learn how to do. Slow and steady to make sure they REALLY get it. 30x30 25 min MP02 Four Corner Rondo 5x5 25 min Set 4 cones into a square 5 x 5 with 3 players rotating from corner cone to corner cone passing the ball to each other and creating a triangle with their movement. 1 defender in the middle trying to steal the ball. Players must pass either left or right. 22-25 minutes with 4 minute rounds and 1 minute rest between rounds. MAIN PART MP07 Keeping the Ball 15x15 30x30 25 min Set up a grid with cones that is 15 x 15 for 6-7 players, 20x20 for 8-9 players, 25x25 for 10-11 players and 30x30 for 12-14 players. Create 2 equal teams (2, 3, 4) and allow for 1,2 or 3 neutral players (who are known as all-time offense). Ask that each team try to keep the ball away from the other team inside the grid (with passes and dribbling) for as long as they can. Points are awarded with a string of 4-6 passes in a row. Change neutral players every 8 minutes. 22-25 minutes with 8 minute rounds and 1 minute rest between rounds. COOL-DOWN CD03 Ground, Water, Air 15x15 5 min All the players making a circle facing the coach in the middle, the coach will pass the ball to a player while saying the words 'Ground', 'Water', or 'Air'. The player receiving the ball, in less than 5 seconds, will have to name an animal that lives in the ground, under water, or flies, before returning the ball to the coach and restarting the game again. NOTES
AGE DATE SESION U10-U11 6 DESCRIPTION SIZE TIME DIAGRAM WU05 King of the Pitch 30x30 10 min Put ¾ of the team inside the grid with balls. These dribblers will dribble inside the grid keeping the ball from the ¼ of the team who does NOT have balls. The players who do not have balls are trying to steal the balls of the players with balls and then keep their ball. Point if the you end the round with a ball. 10 minutes with 30 second rest if the game has to be restarted. Each round goes for 60 seconds. Person who has 4 points, is the king of the pitch. 30x30 25 min MP06 Technical Square 15x15 25 min MAIN PART Set up a square 15 x 15 with cones. Round 1 Put players on the outside of the corner cones (with one line behind the start cone). The start cone will have a player with a ball and that player will dribble counter clockwise to the next cone with a final 1 yard pass to the player on that next cone, who will do the same until they have gone around the square for 3.5 minutes. Repeat Clockwise. Round 2 (Pass around the square instead of dribble); Players will pass counterclockwise and follow their pass to the next cone. Repeat clockwise. Round 3 (dribble half way and perform a give and go around the corner cone); players will dribble half way toward their next cone, make a pass, then receive the ball back and then perform another pass in the direction of the next cone. 3.5 minutes clockwise, 3.5 minutes counter-clockwise. 22-25 minutes with 4 minute rounds and 1 minute rest between rounds. MP10 Progressing to Small Goals 15x10 30x25 25 min Possession game with directions to 2 goals. Set up a rectangle with small pugg goals, or cones in each of the 4 corners of the rectangle (facing each other). Teams are trying to dribble through the goals after they have passed the ball 6 times (adjust for success- 3 passes). 2 teams will be made equal and will use neutral (all-time offense) players to help the success of the game (1, 2, 3 or 4 neutrals can be used depending how many players are on the field). Grid size depends on the amount of players and the age of the players. Create a size that has success, adjust field size if you want to challenge players (make it smaller). Change neutral players every 8 minutes. 22-25 minutes with 8 minute rounds and 1 minute rest between rounds. COOL-DOWN CD01 The Crazy Bullet 15x15 5 min With all the players making a line 10 yards away from the coach, they will individually start running fast straight to the coach at his/her signal as if they were bullets. As they approach the coach, he/she will make a signal moving one part of his body to tell the player to go either left or right. The signal should not be verbal, and could be done winking one eye, moving one hand, one foot, a finger, with the tongue, etc. NOTES
WU01 The Hunt (U10-U13) Game on which all the team will try to hunt one or two players, who will be escaping from the others. The chasing team will be passing the ball to each other with their hands, with a simple rule of only being able to make more than 3 steps when having the ball in hands. In order to hunt the chased player(s), we will have to touch him/her/them with the ball in our hands, without throwing it. While chasing the game, we will have to make sure that the chasing team members spread out in the space to optimize their positions and limit the movements of the chased players. When a player gets hunted, he/she will join the chasing team, and the hunter who has hunted him/her will start being chased. Size & Time: 20 20 yards, 10 minutes with 1 minute of rest if the game has to be restarted. 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Focus on: Every player in movement Every player participating in actions Decisions of player(s) being chased Right tactical decision of player in possession with the ball Team cohesion 3
WU05 King of the Pitch (U8-U11) The game starts with with 3/4 of the players dribbling balls inside a rectangle and the other 1/4 trying to steal a ball from them. If a defender steals a ball, he/she will try to keep it in possession until the end of the round. We will play in rounds of 60 seconds, and players ending up with ball get a point. Whoever accumulates 4 points is the King! Size & Time: 30 30 yards, 10 minutes with 30 second rest if the game has to be restarted. 4-8 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball per player Focus on: Dribbling coordination of players Constantly touching the ball while dribbling instead of kicking the ball and following it Body use to protect ball from being stolen Tactical decisions of players regarding where to go to avoid defenders 4
WU07 EYSA Technical Warm-Up (All Ages) Set of individual technique drills with the objective of getting players to do 1,000 touches in 25 minutes. Size & Time: 30 30 yards, 25 minutes Drills: 4-8 cones to define the playing zones 1 ball per player 1. 1v1 Core (10 min) Have players dribble continuously 8-10 minutes. Teach players how to perform 1v1 Core moves to unbalance and beat defenders. Coaches should first demonstrate, then have players perform slowly to perfect the technique. When teams have mastered moves, move on to next moves and do periodic review repetitions. 1v1 Core moves to introduce: Pull Back Step Over Scissors Cruyff V-Turns Stop-n-Go etc. 5
2. Ball Comfort (10 min) Ball mastery touches, trained stationary and with movement, to allow players to be comfortable with ball and parts of foot. For example: Change of Direction Chop/Inside Foot Cuts/Outside Foot Toe Taps Foundations Change of Pace etc. Example: https://vimeo.com/80325038 3. Juggling: (5 min) Teach players proper juggling technique which helps players with timing, touch and control. Start with: 1. Bounce juggle (drop, ground, juggle, catch, repeat) 2. Progress to (drop, ground, juggle, ground, juggle, repeat) 3. Progress to (juggle, catch, juggle, catch, repeat) 4. Juggle without ground and hands Tip: lock ankle, toe slightly angled upward, let ball come to closer to ground (juggle touch the ball closer to ground), etc. 6
MP02 Four Corner Rondo (All Ages) Three offensive players playing on the outside of a square will have to keep the possession against one defender playing in the middle. Attackers must be at cone to receive the ball while defender attempts to win the ball. Diagonal passes are not allowed, so ball must be played to teammate on cone left or right (forming a natural triangle). This encourages players to move without the ball to give support, and the basic formation of a triangle. The defender will take an attacker's place when winning the ball, or if an offensive player does more than 2-3 touches, makes a bad pass, or doesn't receive with the back foot. Defender stays an extra round if ball passes under his/her legs. Variation: Alter distance to alter difficulty If needed, an extra player can join the attacking team using a pentagonal shape Size & Time: 5 5 yards, 22-25 minutes with 1 minute of rest every 4 minutes 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the defender Focus on: Maximum of 2-3 touches per player Back foot mandatory 7
MP06 Technical Square (All Ages) With the players distributed in the corners of a square as shown in the image, we will ask them to perform different consecutive actions in turns with one ball while going from cone to cone: 1. Dribble to the next cone and make a short pass (1 yard) to the next player. 2. Pass and run to the player in the next cone using the inside of the foot. 3. Dribble halfway to the next cone, pass the ball to the player in the cone, receive it back, and return it to him/her in the other side of the cone. The game will always start at the cone with 2 players. Have them perform each action for 3.5 minutes going clockwise, and then repeat anti-clockwise. Remember to live one minute to rest in between executions. Variation: If we have six players, place 3 in the first cone, or alternatively have two opposite cones with two players and a ball so that we run the exercise simultaneously with two balls. Size & Time: 15 15 yards, 22-25 minutes with 1 minute of rest every 4 minutes 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Focus on: Reception and pass execution Use back foot to control the ball Attacking the ball: hit it, not push it Body orientation 8
MP10 Progressing to Small Goals (All Ages) Possession game between two opponent teams with the help of neutral players in which the attacking team will try to score by dribbling through any of the opponent's two small goals after making at least 6 passes. The game will be played in a wide rectangular pitch, with each team defending 2 small goals located on each wide side. Based on the number of players that we have, we could use the following player distribution: For players without experience: 6 players: 2v2 + 2 neutrals 7 players: 2v2 + 3 neutrals 8 players: 3v3 + 2 neutrals 9 players: 3v3 + 3 neutrals 10 players: 3v3 + 4 neutrals 11 players: 4v4 + 3 neutrals 12 players: 4v4 + 4 neutrals 13 players: 4v4 + 5 neutrals 14 players: 5v5 + 4 neutrals For players with experience: 6 players: 2v2 + 2 neutrals 7 players: 3v3 + 1 neutrals 8 players: 3v3 + 2 neutrals 9 players: 4v4 + 1 neutrals 10 players: 4v4 + 2 neutrals 11 players: 5v5 + 1 neutrals 12 players: 5v5 + 2 neutrals 9
13 players: 6v6 + 1 neutrals 14 players: 6v6 + 2 neutrals The game does not require a limit in the maximum touches per player, but we should encourage passing over dribbling. During the game, we will promote ground level and short passes, which will incredibly help the development of the players. When a team scores a point keeps the ball by restarting the game in their defensive zone. Change the neutral players every 8 minutes during the pause. Variations: Adapt the number passes required to score, but make sure they make at least four. Size & Time: Will be played in a wide rectangle, of a size dependent on the number of players and the difficulty we want to achieve. The smaller the size the harder it will be for players to play. Use the following size recommendations, and adapt them based on what you see while they play: 6-7 players: 15 10 yards 8-9 players: 20 15 yards 10-11 players: 25 20 yards 12-14 players: 30 25 yards Play for 22-25 minutes with 1 minute of rest every 8 minutes 12 cones to define the playing zone and the goals 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the teams Focus on: Rational use of the space by offensive players Defensive players closing passing options Players continuously moving to empty spaces for support Passing and receiving technique 10
MP07 Keeping the Ball (All Ages) Possession game between two opponent teams with the help of a neutral team. The objective will be to keep the ball away from the defenders, using the help of the neutral team, who will always play with the team having the ball. The difficulty of the exercise increases as the ratio of neutral players in comparison with the main teams' members is lowered. The coach will have to decide the right number of neutral players required to be able to have continuity in the passes while not making it impossible for defenders to recover the ball. For teams that are starting to learn the sport, it will be better to have a higher ratio of neutral players. As players get better, we will be lowering the ratio, but always having neutrals in the pitch to give superiority to the team in possession of the ball. Based on the number of players that we have, we could use the following player distribution: For players without experience: 6-7players: 2v2 + 2/3 neutrals 8-9 players: 3v3 + 2/3 neutrals 10 players: 3v3 + 4 neutrals 11-12 players: 4v4 + 3/4 neutrals 13 players: 4v4 + 5 neutrals 14 players: 5v5 + 4 neutrals For players with experience: 6 players: 2v2 + 2 neutrals 7-8 players: 3v3 + 1/2 neutrals 9-10 players: 4v4 + 1/2 neutrals 11-12 players: 5v5 + 1/2 neutrals 13-14 players: 6v6 + 1/2 neutrals 11
Also, in order to maximize passes, players must have a limit of 2-5 touches before passing the ball. If they do more touches, the ball is given to the defending team. Change the neutral players every 8 minutes during the pause. The team achieving the maximum number of consecutive passes wins. Size & Time: Size will vary depending on the number of players and the difficulty we want to achieve. The smaller the size the harder it will be for players to keep the possession. Use the following size recommendations, and adapt them based on what you see while they play: 6-7 players: 15 15 yards 8-9 players: 20 20 yards 10-11 players: 25 25 yards 12-14 players: 30 30 yards Play for 22-25 minutes with 1 minute of rest every 8 minutes 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the teams Focus on: Offensive players going wide trying to occupy the whole pitch the best way Offensive players moving to empty spaces to help partner with ball Defensive players closing passing options Overall team communication and coordination Passing and receiving technique 12
CD03 Ground, Water, Air (U8-U11) With all the players making a circle facing the coach in the middle, the coach will pass the ball to a player while saying the words 'Ground', 'Water', or 'Air'. The player receiving the ball, in less than 5 seconds, will have to name an animal that lives in the ground, under water, or flies, before returning the ball to the coach and restarting the game again. If a player names a wrong animal or takes too much time, he/she will have to run one lap around the circle. Size: 15 15 yards, 5 minutes 1 ball Focus on: High level of concentration Maximum response time 13
CD01 The Crazy Bullet (All Ages) With all the players making a line 10 yards away from the coach, they will individually start running fast straight to the coach at his/her signal as if they were bullets. As they approach the coach, he/she will make a signal moving one part of his body to tell the player to go either left or right. The signal should not be verbal, and could be done winking one eye, moving one hand, one foot, a finger, with the tongue, etc. Variations: Have the players go the opposite direction to what is marked Size & Time: 5 15 yards, 5 minutes 2 cones to define where players start running Focus on: High level of concentration Good preparation for start Maximum speed of execution 14
