Flight Manual Russian Military Jets AFS-design Andreas Meyer

Summary The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (NATO reporting name "Fishbed") is developed in the Soviet Union interceptor. Already in 1959 put into service, the MiG-21 is the most produced combat aircraft since World War II and the most numerous jet aircraft ever, with about 11,000 copies. With more than 50 years of production, it is also the longest-built fighter aircraft around the world and stood at about 50 Air Force on four continents. It also makes Aircraft with more than 20 versions in four generations. Among other things, the legendary single-seat variant of MiG-21 MF and two-seat variant of the MiG-21 US. Also be produced in the People's Republic of China today MiG-21 variants, known as the J-7. Even today, includes some 500 MiG-21 and more than 1000 J-7 / F-7 (Chinese copies) to the inventory of the Air Force in the world. Not least, the MiG-21 was the most important Fighter aircraft of the Air Force / Air Defense of the GDR with more than 20 years. 1

The Mikoyan MiG-29 is a 3th generation jet fighter aircraft designed for an air superiority role in the Soviet Union. Developed in the 1970s by the Mikoyan design bureau, it entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983, and remains in use by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations. NATO s reporting name for the MiG-29 is "Fulcrum", which was unofficially used by Soviet pilots in service. It was developed to counter new American fighters such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F-15 Eagle. 2

The Su-27 s basic design is aerodynamically similar to the MiG-29, but it is substantially larger. It is a very large aircraft, and to minimize its weight its structure has a high percentage of titanium (about 30%, more than any of its contemporaries). No composite materials were used. The swept wing blends into the fuselage at the leading edge extensions and is essentially a delta, although the tips are cropped for wingtip missile rails or ECM pods. The Su-27 is not a true delta, however, because it retains conventional tailplanes, with two vertical tailfins outboard of the engines, supplemented by two fold-down ventral fins for additional lateral stability. The Sukhoi Su-27 is a one-seat Mach-2 class jet fighter originally manufactured by the Soviet Union, and designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. 3
