November 8, 2017 Good Day School Families, We are quickly moving towards the holiday season and will soon be preparing to celebrate the birth of our Lord. As we approach the season of giving, we would like to cordially invite all SJS families to consider joining our service clubs, the St. John s School chapter of the National Junior Honors Society and our group E.C.H.O (Eucharistic Children Helping Others), this December 16, 2017 at Arlington National Cemetery to volunteer to lay wreaths at the headstones of our fallen American soldiers. There is no formal fieldtrip or bus; this is simply an invitation to gather together as a community to honor those who believed in something greater than themselves. Some of our staff will be proudly making the journey with their own families to set that example for our children as we volunteer to honor the memory of those who sacrificed everything. Information about this event can be found at: http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/volunteer-at-arlington/ This website includes information about the opening ceremony, when the wreath laying begins, parking, taking the Metro and more. Previous experience recommends that you arrive early. We hope you consider participating with your family in this solemn and gracious experience. Once again, this is not a formal fieldtrip nor is it mandatory for either service group or any school student. NJHS and ECHO students will also be providing their own transportation and chaperones if they can attend. By opening this invitation up to our entire school community, we can unite our SJS family in the values of honor, service and most importantly as Jesus taught us, love. God Bless, The St. John s School Faculty and Staff
