ugust Meeting Minutes 08/1/2013,, 7:30 PM Field eport : he field is looking good. ld Business : he new fence has been installed with the exception of about 40 more feet that will be installed at a later time. Looks like the field survived another year of the mud volleyball with very little damage to the field and with the exception of a few port-a-pots all of their equipment has been removed. New Business : wap and Fly coming ugust 10 th and help is still needed for the days activity. he question of installing a weather station at the field has come up again. More investigation will be needed before a decision is made. Larry Masters informed us that mosquitos with West Nile Virus was discovered in the area of the field and that the area has been sprayed several times. o bring your bug spray just in case. Hobbies for Hospice donations are coming in: $600.00 helicopter, $200.00 cash, G-cale rain and a diamond Necklace are just some of the gifts donated so far. Night Fly ugust 23 rd and the gates will open at 0700 for Hobbies for Hospice. $25.00 Gift Certificate Winner: Paul timmel Gene Webb We had one Visitor/Guest Larry adilla a 25 year ir Force etired Veteran who joined the club after the meeting. From the President s Hanger We ve had a very busy month! I would like to thank many people for their efforts in the events at our field this month. he wap n Fly took place on ug 10 and it looked to me to be pretty successful! I was there less than 10 minutes when I had already sold an airplane for the asking price! Ken Eubanks and Paul timmel put together a nice event. Free food (which is always a plus!) drew many prospective buyers to the field and there was also very nice weather to fly as well! I would also like to thank many people for their efforts and assistance in other successful Hobbies for Hospice. Jerry Humston and the MVG crew really stepped it up this year and put together a super nice display with water features and it was super cool! hanks to them for helping with the affle! Many thanks to Paul timmel, Marco, Pete, Larry and omey for their help getting the field ready and their help during the event. he event seemed to be a success! he boats were racing at the pond, the M trailer was full of kids (hanks again M!) Planes and helis were in the air all day. I saw many little ones staring wide-eyed at the train displays with smiles on their faces, and that s what makes the event worth all the hard work. hanks again to everyone who helped if I didn t mention you, please forgive me, the event was a blur of activity and still is a blur, a good blur that helps a great organization that gives such an honorable service to the community. Joe hanks again to all, and see you at the field! 2013 wap and Fly e-cap ugust 10, 2013 n ugust 10 th, the Wingmasters held its fourth annual wap & Fly. he selling crowd was slightly smaller than in the past but we appeared to have more buyers than before. he census among the attendees is that threatening weather held the crowd at bay. We did have some attendees as far away as Indiana to the west and Columbus to the east. By all appearances it looked like there was significant buying and selling going on, which is the reason for the event. I am very pleased to report I sold all but one item; enough to fund another project. number of pilots took to the air thru out the day. During the entire day we served, hamburgers, bratwurst and soda. s before, all food was sold as a donation and I m pleased to report that we were within $1.50 of meeting our expenses, which is always good. If we can hold an event, get new visitors to the field and share the day together I would call that a successful event. If any members have any recommendation on how we can get more people out to the field, we would welcome your ideas! Paul timmel CD Pictures on Page 7 ILPIN Page 3

Hobbies for Hospice e-cap I just want to say hanks to everyone who came out and helped at the 3 rd nnual Hobbies for Hospice event. If you were unable to make it out for whatever reason you missed a great show. We had 5 trains running on and above the ground and that did not even include the Cincinnati Live teamers who came up and were running trains all day long. his year the slot car track was back and we even added speed boats to the day s events. he Dayton C Boat Club was living up to their motto Drive it like you stole it and was tearing up the lake shooting rooster tails 10 feet into the air. If that was not enough - there were C airplanes and helicopters in the air all day long. he cademy of Model eronautics even brought their flight simulator trailer over from Muncie, Indiana for people to test their flying or non-flying skills out. here was food being served all day long and raffle tickets being sold for so many great prizes that they were calling names about every ten minutes the entire day. I would love to be able to thank each and every person who came out to help but unfortunately that would be a very long list and besides I was so busy most of the day I can t remember who I even talked to that day. here are a few that did stand out that I want to thank, Joe aylor and Paul timmel my C-CD s of the event my wife Lyn who was there by my side the entire day running around probably more than myself, my daughter imee and her husband Kervin who were my go to people if I needed something off site and of course my sister Beverly (issy) her husband Mike, my nephew Mike and his wife Maggie Hiles who were working the food booth the entire day. I also want to thank everyone else who came out and helped out and in the end all your hard work with everything combined we made just over $2800.00 that will be donated to the Hospice of Dayton. he 5K for Kelli ace/walk was also a huge success and they had over 335 people signed up and participated in the race and in the end had collected almost $8500.00 that will be divided between he Dayton Hospice, he Good amaritan Breast Health Center and he Noble Circle Project. special thanks to Elisha nyder and Mandy Moore from George s Family estaurant for providing all the food that was served through out the day. Jerry special thanks to good and long time friend Peggy Collins who happens to be good friends with the owners of KE-D and ran this add on 2 of their billboards along -35 and I-75 (hanks Jeanette for telling me about Peggy) ILPIN Page 4
