Coach Rob Recknagel returns for a second stint as head coach of the Jayhawk Women s Basketball Program He previously was the head coach of the Jayhawks from 2005-2008 and he was the assistant coach prior to that Coach Recknagel recruited and motivated the MCC women s basketball team that spent seven weeks of the 2007-2008 season ranked in the top 25 nationally in NJCAA Division II Basketball That team also reached the 20 win plateau He possesses over twelve years experience coaching basketball at all levels including eight years as a head coach and assistant coach His credentials include managing victories in 148 games as a college and high school varsity head coach He led a state ranked Muskegon Catholic Central team to a 23-2 season, district championship and regional final appearance in 2004 while coaching Muskegon Community college women s team in overlapping seasons Rob added to his coaching resume as a coach in Florida while transforming Treasure Coast High School s Boy s basketball program that was previously 4-18 into a repeat district winner and regional quarterfinal contestant with back to back 17 win seasons Coach Recknagel has instilled passion and tradition for high achievement academically and athletically in all basketball programs he has led Rob is a graduate of Muskegon Community College and Grand Valley State University and is currently an instructor in the Health Physical Education and Recreation department at Muskegon Community College teaching a variety of classes He is the proud father of Ella (9), Brady (7), and Tyler (infant) Assistant Coach Sandra Bush returns for her 13th season as assistant coach of the Jayhawk Women s Basketball Program Sandra has always had a passion for the game of basketball Her basketball career began at Muskegon Heights High School She went on to play ball at Muskegon Community College and completed her college career at Saginaw Valley State University Sandra coached one year each at Muskegon Heights and Orchard View Schools as a varsity assistant coach She has worked Mike Ahren s Big Man camp in the summer and is also a frequent guest motivational speaker at various basketball camps in Michigan Sandra enjoys being around people and mentoring young athletes She serves as the academic advisor for the team and has been instrumental in the success of the student athletes It s no surprise that recruiting is a rewarding part of her coaching Sandra is a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School She completed her Associate of Arts degree at Muskegon Community College and attended Saginaw Valley State University, completing courses in Accounting and Business Administration Sandra is employed by the County of Muskegon - Community Mental Health She is a member of the Stewards in Action (SIA) Corporation, where she serves as a board member She attends the West Michigan Worship Center and is the mother of three children; Spencer, Santrea, and Sylvester & his wife Aubrie Bush
