The Lady Cards gave our fans another night of free puck with the 2nd OT win on the week. The Lady Cards took on a top class A team in the state, EGF who came into the RCC undefeated. It took the Cards another 40+ shots on a great EGF goalie, in order to find success. EGF took the lead late in the first period on a power play goal. East Grand would score again to take a 2-0 lead midway through the second. The Lady Cards would continue to fight back and cut the lead in half on a pretty play involving two sisters. Kaci trosvig netted her first career goal and a great pass from her big sister, Kristin Trosvig. The goal gave the Cards a spark and not long after, Marki Oberg scored on a nice play and pass from Hadlee Hansen and Josie Minnerath to tie the game 2-2 going into the 3rd period. The third period would stay 2-2, with the Cards out shooting their opponent in the 3rd, 12-3. On to extra hockey we go, the Cards controlled the OT before creeping one through the net minder of EGF. Marki Oberg with the game winner on the night and her second on the game. She was assisted by Meg Shercliffe. Amanda Bittmann recording another win and stopping 15 of 17, with the Cards putting on 44 total shots. The coaching staff continues to be proud of the girls for fighting through the adversity and building a culture of heart and character. We look forward to a weekend off of rest and getting back at it Monday. The Lady Cards are on the road next Tuesday and Thursday against 2 conference match-ups and 1 also being a section opponent. Go Cards! BOYS HOCKEY VARSITY Alexandria 3 River Lakes 2 OT The Boys varsity Hockey team hosted River Lakes at the RCC Thursday night. The Cardinals coming off a win Tuesday night were going to need a good effort against a physical and hardworking River Lakes team. In the first period Bailey Rosch had 6 saves in net for the Cardinals. River lakes scored the only goal at 12:15 of the 1 st period. A great 1 st period effort by River Lakes River Lakes scored again 9 minutes into the 2 nd period to get a 2-goal lead. The Cardinals answered with a goal by Freshman Jacob Stender with assists going to Caleb Strong and Jack Powell. That goal gave the Cards a bit of momentum going into the 3 rd. Cardinals were down 1 after 2 periods of play

Andrew Revering got a Power play goal at 9:29 of the 3 rd period to knot the score at 2 2 with assists going to Jack Westlund and Jack Powell. Some better scoring chances and a much-improved effort gave the Cards a chance in the 3 rd period but it ended 2-2 after 3. On to extra hockey and Overtime. The Cardinals had excellent pressure and some good looks at scoring but it was Matthew Carlsen who put the game winner away on a shot from the point in overtime to give the Cardinals the win 1 minute and 51 seconds into OT. Bailey Rosch had 17 saves for the Cardinals and 50 shots were peppered on the opponents goalie. The Cardinals return to play with St Cloud Cathedral next Tuesday night at the RCC. That should be a good Section 6 test to see where the Cards are at early in the season. BOYS HOCKEY JV On Thursday night the JV boys hockey team faced their stiffest competition yet in River Lakes and the boys were up to the challenge. The boys battled hard from the very beginning. It was nice to play some good competition that pushed our team so we could really see what we were made of early in the season. Some solid team play led to some great scoring chances throughout the game. In the end Joe Westland led the scoring with 2 and Michael Loken and Alex Jost each added another for a 4-0 victory. Our goalies were solid again in net for us with Jackson Boline and Landyn James combining for another shutout, which makes three consecutive games without allowing a goal. Our next two games next week should again prove to be great challenges for us with a home game against rival St. Cloud Cathedral and an away game in St. Cloud on Thursday. WRESTLING Alexandria 36 Brainerd 37 Another classic match with Brainerd that that is often determined with a small margin of error for the team that wins. Brainerd was able to build up enough of a lead to hold off our Cardinals last night in Brainerd. Our team wrestled with Heart and Determination but Brainerd's veteran team was able to get the points they needed and when the needed them. Our Young team is making progress and perhaps later in the season we see the results of their desire to win. The second half the Cards came out stubborn defensively only giving up 2 points and getting stops on 22 or 23 possessions. The Cardinal squad contributed for the team win. Scoring was paced by Ella Grove with 13, 8 for Emily Jones and Courtney Gould, Mac Duwenhoegger 7, Kaye Paschka 6, Mia McGrane, Mataya

Hoelscher, Emily Aker, Taylor Partington and Alayna Strand each with 2, and 1 for Jaya Hatlestad, and Matie Wirtjes. Summer Gerhardt, Sadie Boraas, Flora Kvale, and Cate Bloom each made contributions as well Rebounds we led by Mac D. ripping down 7, Mia McGrane and Courtney Gould each 5, and 4 for Emam Schmidt. Ella Grove and Mia McGrane jumped on 4 steal while Schmitty pounced on 3. The Cards had 18 deflections and continue to be disruptive on the defensive end. The win ups the cards to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the CLC. Top 20 Thinkers and teams understand that their INSIDE WORLD controls their OUTSIDE WORLD. Attitudes, team chemistry and teamwork all generate energy from positive intensity. They know that WE>ME Bottom 80 Thinkers and Teams let their OUTSIDE WORLD control their INSIDE WORLD resulting in selfish thoughts and ME>WE. GIRLS BASKETBALL JV Alexandria 74 Rocori 5 The Alexandria Cardinals hosted the Rocori Spartans on Thursday night. From the tip the Cards were prepared for battle as they unleashed a siege on the Spartans. Alexandria did a great job moving the ball and providing their teammates with easy baskets. Alex would start the game on a 13-2 run and follow that up with a 35-0 run to end the half giving them a 48-2 halftime lead. The Cardinals would keep rolling in the second half as they saw several teammates get into the scoring column. Alexandria had a balanced scoring attack as they had three different girls in double figures. The Cards dominated in all aspects of the game and proved to be too much for Rocori. In the end, Alexandria would coast to a 74-5 victory. The win pushes the Cardinals to 3-0 on the year. Alexandria circles the calendar for next Tuesday night as they play host to the Fergus Falls Otters. GYMNASTICS Alexandria 126 Brainerd 135 The Cardinals traveled to Brainerd for their season opener. Despite coming up short with a score of 126 to Brainerds 135, the gymnasts are eager to get back into the gym and work hard on consistency and upgrades.
