An Introduction to Gemma resides in Columbus, USA and was born on the 15 th of March 1986 (25 years old) Once a talented runner and hockey player, Gemma played to a National level in both sports until the age of 17 before making the decision to concentrate on golf During the early stages in Gemma s golfing career, Gemma was proud to represent the Scottish National Team in both the Home Nations Championship and the European Girls Team Championships. However, whilst Gemma loved the opportunities to compete in a team, it was as an individual that she shone through winning the British University Championships in 2005 and finishing runner up in the 2002 Scottish Girls Championship In 2005, Gemma made the decision to attend the Ohio State University. After demonstrating huge potential on the golf course as well as strong leadership qualities, Gemma was quickly realised to be a true leader of her fellows and was selected to become captain of the Ohio State University Women s Golf Team; a position she would hold for 3 years with great success During this time, Gemma competed in both the Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Central Region, recorded numerous season-low scores and recorded 5 top 10 finishes in collegiate competitions. Gemma s success was recognised by winning the 2007 Ohio State Player of the Year award Gemma s next big step forward was securing her 2009 Duramed Futures Tour card via the 2008 Qualifying School. This was an opportunity and new challenge that Gemma rose to well in particular with strong performances in the 2009 ING New England Golf Classic and the Pennsylvania Classic. These impressive results gave Gemma further opportunities to play on the tour in 2010 Gemma s most recent achievement was finishing 13 th in the 2011 Terre Blanche Open, a highly competitive event with a strong field on the Ladies European Access Tour Gemma is very dedicated, extremely conscientious and continually strives to play to the best of her ability. Gemma will continue to reach for her dream of becoming a Ladies European Tour golfer
