The French-American Challenge The Matches The MGA entered the international arena in 1990 with the creation of the French-American Challenge, or FRED s Cup.

2 The French-American Challenge The Matches The MGA entered the international arena in 1990 with the creation of the French-American Challenge, or FRED s Cup. Named for its founding sponsor, the international jeweler FRED Joaillier, the event comprises teams of top men and women representing the MGA and WMGA against the men and women amateurs of the Ligue de Paris. The first competition was held at Chantilly Golf Club, outside Paris. Since then, it has alternated (biennially since 1998) between France and the Met Area, having been played over some of the most outstanding courses on both sides of the Atlantic. The competition between six-man/four-woman teams in Fourball, Foursome, and Singles matches has been dominated by the Ligue de Paris. However, the spirit of competition and camaraderie are always the most compelling part of the matches. The Ligue de Golf de Paris last visited the Met Area for these matches in 2012, when they emerged with a 11 1/2-8 1/2 victory at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. In 2014, the MGA/WMGA faced off against the Ligue de Paris at Golf de Saint-Cloud in Paris, France. The Ligue de Paris came away victorous with a score of 11 1/2-8 1/2. The format requires all 10 players on each team to play in each of the three sessions: Fourballs and Foursomes on the first day, and singles matches on the second day. Twenty points are up for grabs, and the MGA/WMGA team needs to earn 10.5 points to win for just the second time in the history of the matches. The Ligue de Golf de Paris needs 10 points to retain the French-American Challenge trophy. Preceding the matches is the French-American Challenge Am-Am, which will be held this year on Monday, October 17 at Stanwich. In addition to serving as a valuable practice round for the championship competitors, the Am-Am gives all 20 team members a chance to interact with Met Area golfers whose support of the Am-Am helps to raise money for the MGA Foundation.

Ligue de Paris Player Profiles Morgane Bazin de Jessey Age: 31 Bazine de Jessey was the champion at the National Ladies Team Championship this year.

In 2010 her team won the World University Team Championship, and she finished second in the World University Individual.

Perrine Gouin-Petit Age: 33 Gouin-Petit has had an impressive 2016 season with a finalist apperance in the National Ladies Team Mid-Amateur Championship and a

Mathilde Claisse Age: 16 At the young age of 16, Claisse is the top ranked amateur in France and top 25 in the Women s World Amateur Golf Rankings.

4 Ligue de Paris Player Profiles Morgane Bazin de Jessey Age: 31 Bazine de Jessey was the champion at the National Ladies Team Championship this year. She is also a winner of 4 French Grand Prix. In 2010 her team won the World University Team Championship, and she finished second in the World University Individual. In 2009 she took bronze at the European Ladies Team Championship. Perrine Gouin-Petit Age: 33 Gouin-Petit has had an impressive 2016 season with a finalist apperance in the National Ladies Team Mid-Amateur Championship and a semi-finalist apperance in the National Ladies Team Championship. In 2015, she finished 3rd at the Saint-Germain Grand Prix. Mathilde Claisse Age: 16 At the young age of 16, Claisse is the top ranked amateur in France and top 25 in the Women s World Amateur Golf Rankings. Her resume includes victores at the French Team U16 Championship ( 15 and 14), French Foursome Championship, and 2015 French Team Ladies Championship. Anyssia Herbaut Age: 21 Herbaut has been selected for 16 French International teams. This year she joined Bazin de Jessey as a member of the victorious team at the National Ladies Team Championship. In 2015, she earned a golf medal at the World Military Team Championship and finished 2nd at the Internationaux de France Junior.

5 WMGA Player Profiles Captain: Valerie DePiro Ina Kim Age: 33 The former Northwestern golf team member has had a very successful 2016, winning the WMGA/MGA Women s Amateur Championship and the WMGA Stroke Play Championship. Kelly Sim Age: 16 At only 16, Sim already has quite the record of victories and accomplishments as champion of the the 2015 & 2016 NJSIAA Girls, the 2016 AJGA Junior Golf Hub, and the 2015 NJ State Women's Amateur. Sim also competed in the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship in 2015 & Kyra Cox Age: 16 Cox is already very established in the Met Area at her young age. This season she qualified for her first two USGA championships: the U.S. Girls Junior and the U.S. Women's Amateur. Tara Fleming Age: 49 Fleming was a member of the LPGA Tour from She placed 10th in the Corning Classic in 2016 and has participated in numerous USGA events, including 4 U.S. Opens, 2 Mid-Amateur Championships, 1 Women's Four-Ball Championship and 2 Women's State Team Championships, finding success in 2013 as the playing Captain for the victorious New Jersey team.some recent accomplishments include winning the Garden State Women's Round Robin Match Play Championship, a Runner-Up finish at the New Jersey State Women's Mid-Amateur and a semifinal appearance at the New Jersey State Women's Amateur.

6 Ligue de Paris Player Profiles Pierre Mazier Age: 21 Mazier has been selected 13 times for French International teams. He has won the French Championship in the under-13 and under-15 divisons. Mazier is also a three time winner at the Doral Publix Junior ( 15, 14, and 12). Adrien Pendaries Age: 17 Pendaries enters this year s French-American Challenge fresh off a hot summer, that included victories at the European Boys Team Championship and Jacques Leglise Trophy. He also qualified for the match-play portion of the 2016 U.S. Junior Amatuer and was a selction for the Junior Ryder Cup team. Benjamin Morin Age: 44 Morin is a ten-time French Grand Prix champion. He was selected three times for the French Team Mid-Amateur competition, and he also participted in at the French Team Championship First Division.

7 Ligue de Paris Player Profiles Christophe Ravetto Age: 42 A former player on the European Tour, Ravetto has been selected a total of 14 times for French international team championships. He won the 2012 French Mid-Amateur Team Championship, and is a former winner of the French Amateur (1997 and 95). Also on his golf resume are seven wins at the French Team Championship. Gary Boitour Age: 21 Boitour joins this year s Ligue de Paris team as a winner of 5 French Grand Prix. Also on his golf resume is a captured title at the 2015 Internationaux de France Foursome. Aymeric Laussot Age: 16 Laussot has amassed quite a golf resume at his young age. His career is highlighted by victories at this year s Scottish Boys U16 Open Championship and the 2015 Doral Championship. Laussot has also placed well in the individual division of the French Junior Championship with finishes of vicechampion in 2013 and third in 2015.

8 MGA Player Profiles Captain: Allan Small President: Steve Boyd Stewart Hagestad Age: 25 The former University of Southern California golf team member has had a hot 2016 season, highlighted by exciting victories at the Met Amateur and U.S. Mid-Amateur. During the final round of the U.S. Mid-Amateur, Hagestad was 4-down with 5 to play, but battled back in dramatic fashion to win the title on the first playoff hole. This will be Hagestad s second appearance on a MGA international team. Hagestad also earned with a 3rd place finish at the MGA Ike and a 2nd place finish at the Arcola Cup. Trevor Randolph Age: 43 Randolph has had a busy 2016 season having captured titles at the MGA Mid-Amateur, Hochster Memorial, Travis Invitational, and NJSGA Mid-Amateur. On top of those victories, he had runner-up finishes at the NYC Amateur and Bergen County Am, and placed T-4th at the MGA Ike, and T-3rd at the Arcola Cup. Randolph was a member of the French - American Challenge Team in 2014 and was also a member of the 2015 Carey Cup Team. Paul Pastore Age: 20 Pastore has had a strong summer finishing tied as the 3rd low amateur at the 101st Met Open and earning a T-7th finish at the MGA Ike. He also qualified for match play in the 2016 U.S. Amateur. Pastore is the younger brother of former MGA Player of the Year David Pastore.

MGA Player Profiles Ethan Ng Age: 16 Ng is ranked in the top 50 in the Polo Golf Junior rankings.

Brian Komline Age: 42 Komline earned a victory this season at the Bergen County Amateur, while also finishing as runner-up at the MGA Mid- Amateur,

He also made it to the Round of 16 at the Met Amateur and finished as runner-up to Randolph at the 2016 NJSGA Mid-Amateur.

( 08, 12 & 16). Darin Goldstein Age: 35 The reigning Long Island Golf Association Player of the Year captured the 2016 LIGA Amateur title.

9 MGA Player Profiles Ethan Ng Age: 16 Ng is ranked in the top 50 in the Polo Golf Junior rankings. He won the 2016 MGA Carter Cup and was runner-up to Hagestad at the Met Amateur. Ng qualified for his first U.S. Amateur this season and finished as a quarter-finalist at the Met Junior. In 2015, Ng posted a victory at the Lessing s AJGA Classic and was a member of the victorious Williamson Cup team. Brian Komline Age: 42 Komline earned a victory this season at the Bergen County Amateur, while also finishing as runner-up at the MGA Mid- Amateur, runner-up at the Eagle Oaks Invitational, 3rd at the Hochster Memorial, and T-3rd at the NJSGA Amateur. He also made it to the Round of 16 at the Met Amateur and finished as runner-up to Randolph at the 2016 NJSGA Mid-Amateur. Komline is no stranger to MGA international teams as he has played on two Carey Cup teams ( 13 & 15) and is on his third French American Challenge team ( 08, 12 & 16). Darin Goldstein Age: 35 The reigning Long Island Golf Association Player of the Year captured the 2016 LIGA Amateur title. Goldstein has had a number of strong finishes this season including a quarterfinal appearance at the Travis Invitational, a semifinal appearance at the Havemeyer Invitational, and a T-3 finish with Randolph at the Arcola Cup. Goldstein also qualified for the U.S. Amateur and advanced to match play in the U.S. Mid-Amateur. This will be Goldstein s second appearance on a MGA International team - competing on the 2015 Carey Cup team last season.

11 In 1962 a group of members of the Round Hill Club and Greenwich Country Club came together to form a new club called The Stanwich Club. They purchased the Semloh Farm north of the Merritt Parkway, and dedicated 196 acres to their golf course. They summoned golf architect William Gordon from Pennsylvania to Founded: 1963 Course Opened: 1964 Architect: William Gordon Course Rating: 77.3 Slope: 151 inspect the site. Gordon was most impressed, telling the group if you let this property get away from you you're crazy. The land featured a view of Long Island Sound eight miles away.
