A message from the Board- As we are all getting settled into our hockey season we hope that your experience so far has been both fun and positive. RAHA is a great association and we want to remind all players and parents what it means to play and cheer for Rosemount Hockey. For our players, this is a good point in the season to reinforce their responsibility for being a great teammate and representative of RAHA. In the near future, your child s coach will review the Player Code of Conduct with each team member and ask the players to acknowledge their understanding/agreement with their signature. The Code of Conduct carries with it a discipline policy that is similar to other hockey associations around the state. Our goal is to create and maintain an environment that is positive, fun and safe for all players. This is also a good time to remind parents that we too represent Rosemount Hockey. Our role/responsibility as parents is to watch, support, cheer, have fun and interact with others in a positive manner. It is not our job to coach or officiate. The view and speed of the game is very different from where we sit compared to what the kids see and experience on the ice. It is the coaches role and responsibility to instruct the kids and let them know what they should or should not be doing. It is also the coaches role to interact with the referees. Yelling negative comments from the stands rarely helps the team and ALWAYS leaves an unfavorable impression of Rosemount Hockey. The referees are ordinary people like the rest of us. Some are young and learning how to ref while others are experienced and very knowledgeable of the game. Either way, they are there to keep things fair, ensure the rules are being followed and help us all better understand the game. Without them, there would be no games. In an instance where we don t agree with the referees, use it as an opportunity to teach our kids that life is not perfect and things don t always go our way. They observe how we handle these situations; self-control and common sense are great teachers. Positive parent behavior and attitude will have a positive impact on the team. RAHA has a Zero Tolerance Policy relative to abusive behavior on behalf of Parents, Players and Coaches. Parents, players or coaches that exhibit any type of harassment, obscene language or gestures, and other behavior deemed to be abusive directed toward referees will not be tolerated. Let us all do our part to build a great reputation for Rosemount Hockey. If you have questions, concerns or comments, please reach out to me or any board member. Traveling Team News Bantam AA take Consolation at Carbone s Classic at RCC over Thanksgiving weekend. The Irish would hand Tartan a goose-egg in the opener with a 3-0 win but Delano would earn the Pool A #1 seed with a 4-3 win in Game #2. An 8-1 spanking to Osseo-Maple Grove in Consolation Bracket play would earn a Consolation Trophy game with White Bear Lake where the Irish came out on top with a 3-1 win. Our Bantam AA team are starting to come on strong after a slow start to the season as they add a 2nd straight tournament trophy to their resume with a runner-up finish at the North American Bantam Tournament Series at the Super Rink in Blaine. This tournament brings in AAA talent from all over the country and they opened pool play by knocking off the San Jose Jr. Sharks 7-3. A tough 2-1 Shootout loss to the New Jersey Jr. Titans would mean a must win against the West Coast Renegades to advance to the Championship Bracket and they got it with a 8-1 victory. A rematch with the Titans in the semi-finals would again go Rosemount's way in a 3-0 shut-out which setup a championship game with Omaha AAA. Nebraska would prove to be too much and shut down the Irish 5-1 for the title, but congrats to the players and coaches for taking 2nd in the 12 team tourney. Our Bantam B1's earned their first trophy of the season in as many tries taking the consolation in Fairbault. A tough opening round loss to Hastings 4-3 knocked the Irish into the losers bracket, but the boys bounced back defeating Duluth 5-0 and Farmington 5-1. The Irish Bantam B1 traveled to Hibbing looking for their 2nd piece of hardware in as many tries, and came back with a very respectable 3rd Place Trophy. An opening round game against Greenway of Colerain was dominated by Rosemount 13-0. North Metro was next up and a more competitive game would go the Pirates way 4-2. The boys bounced back beating Thunder Bay Canada 7-0 which earned them a trip to the final 4 and a rematch with North Metro. Another nail biter game would go into OT all notched at 4, but the Pirates once again had our in a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat. The 3rd place game would bring on District 8 rival Eagan and Rosemount would take care of business 3-2 adding a 3rd place trophy to join their earlier consolation trophy from Fairbault. Page 4

Traveling Team News The Bantam C boys brought home their second piece of hardware in their second tournament taking the Consolation Championship in the Somerset Tournament. The boys started off with a rocky start with a 1-8 loss against the tournament hosts. The came back ready to play with a 3-0 win over Ames, IA and battled Edgecumbe Black coming out on top with a 3-2 victory to take the Consolation Championship. More hardware for our Peewee AA Boys as they earn their first title of the season at the 16 team First Test of the Best Tournament in Eden Prairie. It wouldn t be an easy test with many of the metros top teams on the ticket including Stillwater, Chaska-Chan, Elk River and #1 ranked Edina. A pool play record of 2-0-1 (Forest Lake 6-0, Prior Lake 6-2, and Stillwater 5-5) punched their ticket into the 4 team championship bracket and a semi-final match-up with the Hornets of Edina who already had our number twice this season. Another great battle between two of our States top teams would come down to the wire with our boys holding on for a 2-1 championship victory. Johnny B and his Peewee B1 s headed up Highway 77 to Richfield Ice Arena looking to join the 2014-15 Irish Two-Timers Club at the Spartan Classic. The Irish flexed their muscle in the opening game against Roseville in a 6-1 win. In the semi s the Irish calmed the Storm as goaltender Jimmy Oss and the Irish Blue- Liners shut down Minneapolis 3-0. The Championship game would be against Forest Lake Maroon who were bringing in a 7-2-1 record, but once again the Irish D would rise to the occasion taking the championship 3-1. Congrats to the newly crowned Two-Timers as they look to make it 3 out of 4 at the Eagan New Years Border Battle. Page 5

Traveling Team News The Peewee B2 Boys headed to Eagan over Thanksgiving Weekend and came back the 3rd Place Trophy with a 5-2 victory over the tournament host Wildcats. The Pee Wee C White team won the consolation championship at the Coon Rapids Tournament. The opening game was against Tartan which ended in 0-0 tie after regulation. Tartan scored the first goal in OT to win the game. In game two they defeated Coon Rapids 8-1 to move onto the consolation championship where they defeated Mankato 2-1. The 12UA Girls pick-up their 2nd trophy of the season with a 3rd Place finish at the Hastings Sugar and Spice Tournament. A tough opening loss to Cottage Grove 1-0 didn't break the ladies spirits as they would come back with a 3-3 tie against Edina which was good enough to earn a Sunday 3rd Place contest with Burnsville. Great Irish Defense and solid goaltending would end up being the winning recipe in a 2-0 Rosemount Win. Great job earning Trophy #2! Page 6

Traveling Team News Our Squirt A squad traveled to OMG hungry for a title at the OMG Squirt Extravaganza. The Irish opened with a solid win against St Cloud 3-1 and followed that up with a 7-0 shut -out over Elk River. The final Pool game would be against District 8 rival Sibley. A Win and They re in was the simple formula and the boys battled the Warriors down in a 4-1 win. The perfect 3-0 Pool record put them in the Title Game against tourney host OMG. A great battle between two of Youth Hockey Hubs top 15 teams would ensue. A quick 1-0 OMG lead in the first minute of the game did not rattle Rosemount as they would battle back to tie it up 1-1 on a goal by Ryan Alberts. Back and forth action in the 3rd with some great chances by both teams would come down to one final OMG rush and a great play by the tourney hosts with 15 seconds to play would seal a 2-1 Irish Defeat. Congrats to all the coaches and players on a great tournament, fantastic championship game and 2nd Place finish. The Rosemount Squirt B Blue made it 1 for 1 in Tournament Titles over Thanksgiving Weekend winning the Cottage Grove Turkey Tourney. The Irish squeaked by Chaska-Chanhassen Purple 4-3 in a great game that setup the semi-final match-up with Edina Black. Blue shut down the Hornets allowing just 1 goal in a 4-1 victory to earn a championship battle with Stillwater. Another great game between two metro powerhouses would come down to defense and the Irish would hold the Ponies to a goose-egg in the scoring column to earn the title. Congrats to coach Tux and his staff and all the players for getting their tournament season off to a roaring start. Page 7

Traveling Team News The Squirt B Blue coaches, players and families packed up the Greyhound and headed to Historic Roseau looking for tournament Championship #2 on the season. Tourney host Roseau, Grand Rapids and Becker-Big Lake were the pool opponents and late Saturday night the top 5 Youth Hockey Hub state ranking was validated as the Blue outscored the three teams 29-0 (Roseau 11-0, Becker 6-0, Grand Rapids 12-0). This setup a Sunday Title Game match-up with another team with a little history in the Edina Hornets. This would be the 2nd meeting of the season as Blue sent the Hornet Black team to the 3rd place game at the Cottage Grove Thanksgiving Tournament. This game would live up to expectations with some furious back and forth action and with four minutes to play the scoreboard read 3-3. Then at the 3:47 mark the Roseau Memorial was rockin Irish as Cam Johnston put Rosemount up 4-3 and an insurance goal just 30 seconds later would seal the deal in a 5-3 championship victory. A great win at one of the most historic hockey hot beds in the world...congrats to the coaches, players and families. The Squirt B White boys traveled to Brooklyn Park over Thanksgiving weekend and brought back a championship and the coveted "Pirate" 1st Place Trophy. Pool Play wins over host North Metro 8-3, Edina Green 6-0 and Rogers 5-0 earned them the #1 seed in Pool B and a Title Game Sunday matchup with the defending champion Thunder Bay Elks. The Irish would jump out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals from Mike Nelson and Griffy Kranz. The Elks would pull within 1 early in the 3rd, but just 21 seconds later, Wyatt Adam would once again push it to a 2 goal cushion. Goaltender Chris Hekrdle and the strong Irish "D" were stellar down the stretch as the game would end in a 3-1 final. Congrats to Coach Carlson, the coaching staff and all the players on a well deserved Championship. Page 8

Traveling Team News The Squirt B White squad took their undefeated season record to New Richmond, Wisconsin looking for their 2nd tournament title in 3 weeks. A mix of Wisconsin A and Minnesota B teams would make up the 8 team bracket play and an opening quarter-final win over City of Lakes 10-3 would put the Irish in the semi-final. The Stillwater Ponies were next up and extremely motivated to beat the Irish after losing to our Blue squad in the Cottage Grove Turkey Championship. After a scoreless first period, Mike Nelson thread a pass to Wyatt Adam who was off to the races on a break-away. The initial shot was stopped, but Nelsons drive to the net put him in position for the rebound as he banged it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Pony goaltender was brilliant the entire game as midway through the 3rd period the shots read, IRISH 21 PONIES 2. The Ponies would give a great effort, but goaltender Chris Hekrdle would make some big saves in the final few minutes to preserve the 1-0 shutout win. That setup a championship game with host New Richmond who hadn't relinquished a goal in their first two tournament wins. That streak was broken midway through the first period as Griffy Kranz would put the Irish up 1-0. Drew Gullickson made it 2-zip, but the Tigers came right back getting a break-away goal passed Jonah Wangsness. It was all Irish from there as Tysen Kalata, Kranz and Nelson (2) would close out the scoring and Wangsness would put the 6-1 Championship victory in the books. Congrats to the White on earning Title #2 and an 11-0-1 start to the season. The Rosemount Irish Squirt C White team finished second in the Irish Ice Classic this weekend! They beat Inver Grove Heights, St. Cloud and Chaska-Chanhassen to play Rosemount Squirt C Blue in the Championship Game! It was an exciting Rosemount v Rosemount final game with Bryson Allen scoring a hat trick for Rosemount White. The White team brought home the 2nd place trophy! Great work team! Page 9

Kick-Back Percentage Lowered to 5% Currently RAHA is receiving a 10% discount while passing 8% back to our membership. RAHA will now be passing the full 5% back to our members under the new structure. So you will now be receiving a $5 credit on every $100 card you purchase through our website. $3 is a significant change, but the $5 per card will still add up over a 12 month period. Remember...unlike other associations, RAHA allows its members to fund raise 24/7/365, so you can still save hundreds of dollars off hockey if you commit to getting all your gas through our program on an annual basis. 10% Back for in-store purchases Kwik Trip will now be giving a 10% rebate on in-store purchases and RAHA will use this rebate to help pay for our online merchant and ordering expenses. The 10% rebate is not applicable to Lottery Tickets, Cigarettes, Gift Cards and stamp purchases, but everything else in the store. Example: on a $100 card, you use $70 for gas and $30 in the store...a 10% rebate will be given to RAHA on the $30 for a total of $3. This has been a phenomenal fundraiser for RAHA as it has brought in $12-$15K annually over the last 2 years. This will now be going away as we hope to just cover our expense. So as you continue to use the program, please remember that your in-store purchases not only helping you, but also helping your association pay for the program expenses. RAHA will give the 8% for as long as our stock of 2014 card purchases lasts We are going to continue to give our members the 8% back into 2015 until we are out of 8% cards. The exact date will depend on our order volume and when the cards we purchased before Dec 31st are out of stock. We have posted a notification on the website just above the ORDER & PAY FOR MY CARDS button. For Kwik Trips official announcement to the program changes CLICK HERE Page 14
