The car will be marked at all weekend Masses through March. Thank you for your donations! Our St. Mary 10 th graders traveled to Washington, D.C. for the Pro-Life March on Friday, 1/27/17. Our academic wing is NUT FREE. Please be very conscientious about this as it is of utmost importance to the health of those with NUT ALLERGIES that are life-threatening. Thank you for your efforts, past & present. Notes from Coach Szur, Athletic Director: 3rd-6th Grade Elementary Volleyball Signup FIRST PRACTICES: Feb 7th and Feb 9th @ 3:30 in the Aux Gym for ALL AGES **We'll split teams/age groups and practices after the first week. Registration Due: No later than February 9th! See flyer attached on page 6 of Happenings. Parents of 6th Graders: There will be teams of combined 5th/6th graders in the league from other schools. Please be aware that if your daughter played for the middle school team this fall, she is not eligible to compete in this league. However it is possible for her to practice only after checking with Coach Szur first. If she didn't play this fall, I highly encourage she participate to prepare for her 7th grade season. INTERESTED IN COACHING? We'll probably have a minimum of 2 or 3 teams. Potentially this means the teams will be separated by age groups at different venues. Could really use the help! Practice times already planned through March and calendars are on the athletic office door. Game dates listed on the flyer. Contact Teresa Szur if you're willing to be of assistance -- via phone call [231]256-9636 X100 or or e-mail: athletics@stmarysll.org Updated February and March athletic calendars will be available on the A.D. s door next week. They will be copied on yellow paper. Look forward to it! THANK YOU! This past weekend we had the opportunity to host Austin Catholic School to kick-off Catholic Schools week. It was a wonderful weekend with lots of opportunities for our student-athletes to spend time with their opponent off the court sharing Mass and a couple of meals together. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our parents that assisted in hosting the event. We received a follow-up e-mail from Mike Miller who is their Athletic Director this week. He said, "What an enjoyable weekend! The St. Mary family welcomed our Austin Catholic family and treated us like family. Tell your coaches, players and parents 'You were AWESOME!'" Plans are already underway for our trip downstate to compete against them next year. ATHLETIC COMMITTEE MEETING It was exciting to have a number of new faces join us for our athletic committee meeting on Monday. We discussed a number of items and meeting minutes will be available next week if you would like a copy. Also please note, we are still 'recruiting' individuals to join our committee. Our next meeting is Tuesday February 28th @ 6:30 pm in the Library. Hope you can join us! Services From the Heart: Come and join a great group of women as they work with the St. Mary high school students on Monday Feb. 13 th to make blankets for children in need locally and around the world. The 20 plus years of Blankets of Hope project will begin at 8 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. in the church social hall. This same group of women will be adding a second project this year: Little Dresses for Africa the following day on Feb. 14 th. You may join us either day or both days. If you would like to contribute fabric, time, equipment, or monetary support for either project, please contact Jozell Rexroat (231-357-7397) and she will be glad to pick up materials or answer any questions you might have. Tues., Feb. 14 Jump Rope for Heart Elementary participates in the annual Fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Fun filled events/activities to get their hearts pumpin. Students collect pledges from the community to raise funds. Join us at the Sweetheart Dinner Saturday, February 18 th as we honor Pat & Patti Shaffran for their years of service to St. Mary School and Terry & Anne Bergstrom for their generous hearts. Please reserve your spot by February 10 th, with the Development Office at 231-256-9670. Many of our students have signed up for the Daddy Daughter Dance at Glen Lake School, Saturday, February 25, 2017, 6:30pm. Anyone who still wishes to attend, please let us know. We ask that you bring your admission and registration form to the dance, where you can pay at the door. Thank you to Nikki Ackley for coordinating this!
