Thank you for your participation. In celebration of the life and work of William Ronald Ron Burton, a renowned code expert who worked on many code-related projects for ICC, BOMA and NAHB, this 2nd Annual Ron Burton Golf Outing is a fundraising effort developed by the International Code Council Foundation and the Past Presiding Officers (PPO) of the International Code Council (ICC) to provide training and resources for the next generation of code officials. Recognizing the need to encourage and mentor the next generation of code officials and to provide for the continued education of individuals who seek a profession in code administration, ICC and the PPOs have embarked on an effort to provide training and resources to address the critical need for future leaders in our profession. This effort will assist in the preparation of a new generation of young professionals for the challenges of our changing world. On Tuesday, October 18, 2016, the PPOs and ICC Staff are conducting a seminar ICC Journey to Leadership to inspire young leaders in the Code profession. The seminar will address a daunting need to provide for new and emerging code administration professionals. More than 80 percent of the Code Officials of the existing Code professional workforce are planning on retiring in the next 15 years, with more than 30 percent in the next 5 years. It is imperative to develop the future leaders of the Code profession. This program will assist in preparing individuals for a higher level of responsibility in the Code profession. Your participation in the golf outing will help to provide resources to assist young professionals and emerging leaders in their efforts to acquire the skills and training needed for their professional growth. The Story of the Gelato Cart During our luncheon you will be able to enjoy some wonderful Gelato from Paciugo Gelato Caffe. Please email your 2016 Second Annual Ron Burton Golf Outing photos to conference@iccsafe.org Some of you may not be aware of Ron s love of Gelato, but he had a true passion for it. Ron would mix interesting combinations of flavors to achieve a melody for the taste buds. When he traveled to Italy, Ron sought out all of the Gelato shops he could find and tested every one he encountered. In his honor Ron s friends at The Preview Group and Edison Electric Institute have sponsored the Gelato Cart. We hope that every golfer will enjoy a treat that Ron truly enjoyed. 12 13
