Boilermaker road race day - Sunday July 8 The G.E.Ski Club has volunteered to man an official boilermaker road race water station on Whitesboro St in Utica for many years now. If you would like to be a part of the official G.E. Ski Club boilermaker road race water station team, let me know by e-mail andyr@ugefcu.net or by phone @ 735-0349. By being an official member of the G.E.Ski Club boilermaker road race water station team, you will get an official boilermaker road race water station volunteer tee shirt, a special pre boilermaker road race volunteer party, a post boilermaker road race goody bag, an official volunteer pin, volunteer lunch, and free official volunteer beer, or soda, or beer, or water, or beer. If you have done this before and no personal information has changed, just let me know, by either of the above official means. Telling me at a happy hour won't work, I won't remember. If some thing has changed OR if you are officially volunteering for the first time, I need to know your full NAME, MAILING ADDRESS, and TEE SHIRT SIZE. All official volunteers MUST officially notify me by May 10, by above means, if you want to be an OFFICIAL G.E. Ski Club boilermaker road race water station team member. Telling me at a happy hour won't work, I won't remember. Anybody can come the day of the race and help at the water station. In fact you are more than welcome, but you will not be able to partake of the official parties or receive an official volunteer shirt, volunteer pin, beer, soda, beer, water or beer, if you don't sign up ahead of time to be on the official G.E.Ski Club boilermaker road race water station team. Remember deadline May 10 th. **Note -- The water station is on Whitesboro St at the corner of Chery St in Utica. It is right across from the fire house and just west of Heintz funeral parlor. (west is towards Yorkville) Volunteers are asked to be there between 6:00 and 7:00AM (about the crack of light) to help set up and are requested to stay until the end to help take down. Parking is limited and some roads are blocked off earlier than need to be (some rent-a-cops don't have any flexibility). Some parking is available at the water station or in Heintz's lot or you can park on Erie St and walk up Kernan Ave. The 5K Race officially starts at 7:30, wheel chair at 7:45, and main race at 8AM. Kayak & canoe day on the West Canada. Well it's time for our annual trip down the raging class.5 rapids of the West Canada to Newport N.Y. on Saturday May 5 th. We will be meeting at the public fishing turn off on Rt. 28, 3 to 4 miles southeast of Mappledale, at the bottom of Putnam Hill Rd. (same place as always) at 11:00 A.M. Once we have gathered we will take cars to the Newport end, so we have a way of getting people back to get the cars we left. The trip is aprox 3 to 4 hours and we stop for a lunch break, so pack some vittles (food) & drink. There is about a mile and half of rapids about 2/3rds of the way, so spray skirts and P. F. D s (life jackets) are required. Boats have been known to flip is this area, so make sure your gear is tethered (tied down) in or on your boat. Prepare for the weather also. We've had 85 and sunny and 40 and rain on this trip over the years. When we are done and all packed, we will head back to Barneveld to Vans Tavern for some after trip stories, cold beer, and some of their Saturday food specials. Any questions call Andy at 735-0349. Hope to see y'all there. Andy SARANAC THURSDAYS It's almost June and guess what will be starting----you're right---saranac!!! On that night please wear a GE Ski Club shirt and bring your membership card. I don't have a list of bands yet, but I'm sure they'll be published soon. See you soon.
