Highlights (from Richard Doss meeting notes): Sargent thanked Kalna for fixing roller on gate. Last Saturday work party had few attendees. Cesar discussed raising Bergeron boat that was sunk in slip. Harris reported parts ordered for Sunfish. Cesar reported ordering four new sails for Sunfish. The board met on 9 August. Highlights (from Richard Doss meeting notes): Faulk reported sending notices to members with past due accounts (see notice below). Faulk noted that Committee needs formed to propose 217 board. Polled members present for plans to continue on board. Faulk,Sargent,Latour,Cesar and Harris -Yes. Kalna - Undecided. Doss - No.. Latour reported on status of Bergeron boat that was recently raised. Faulk to check with scrap dealer about taking for metal in boat. Latour to contact Coast Guard about removing fluids from boat. Latour reported letter from Texas 4 expressing appreciation for stay at LCYC this year. Board agreed that event is good for the club and should continue. Cesar reported purchase of a used Sunfish. Working on buying trailer. Tax refund to members (from Sheron Faulk). The LA state legislature enacted a law to tax member dues of nonprofit clubs, like LCYC. They repealed the tax after the LCYC bills were sent with the tax added In June. Please pay the bill you received but you can contact me to get reimbursed for the approximately $7 tax you were charged. Please provide me with a copy of your bill and a request to be reimbursed. If you do not request the refund in writing, by Sept 3, 216, the tax you paid will be considered a donation to LCYC. We are not refunding on your next bill because the accountant will charge to redo all the member bills each time we change a bill and that cost is more than the taxes collected. Dog Days of Summer Regatta on Saturday 13 August 216 Lake Charles Yacht Club, 135 North Lakeshore Drive, Lake Charles, La. 1 RULES 1.1 These races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 1.2 Also applicable are one-design class rules, such as Flying Scot Sailing Association Class Specifications at http://www.fssa.com/files/master_constitution_bylaws_12--212.pdf. 1.3 All sailors will follow US Coast Guard and Louisiana boating safety regulations. 2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1 Eligible are boats in Portsmouth Yardstick tables http://offshore.ussailing.org/portsmouth_yardstick.htm. 2.2 The boat owner or responsible party shall enter eligible boat by writing on the LCYC Score Sheet the day of the regatta the following: the name of the boat s skipper, the boat s design, its sail number or name, and its Portsmouth Number. It can be found at the Portsmouth website provided in NOR2.1. 3 SCHEDULE 3.1 The Skippers Meeting will begin 12:3 PM at LCYC clubhouse on regatta day. Before then the regatta s Sailing Instructions will be available. 3.2 At Skippers Meeting the Principal Race Officer will announce the time for first race s warning signal. 3.3 Three races are planned. The second and third races will follow conclusion of previous race. 4 SCORING 4.1 If conditions permit completion of only one or two races, the regatta will be scored as completed. 4.2 RRS A4 Low Point Scoring will apply except that no score will be excluded. This changes RRS A2. 4.3 LCYC Race Committee will score each entry in one of the following Classes: - Open Class for entries not scored in another Class. - Multihull Class for 3 or more multihull entries if all other entries are in other Classes. - Monohull Class for 3 or more monohull entries if all other entries are in other Classes. - One-Design Class for 3 or more such entries if all other entries are in other Classes except Open Class. 5 SAFETY AND LIABILITY 5.1 Competitors participate in the races entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 in RRS. 5.2 Because no rescue boat will be on station for race, each competitor shall be prepared to rescue self. 5.3 The organizing authority will not accept liability for material damage or personal injury or death in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the race.
