WELCOME Dear players and parents, The Hub Netball Club invites all current and new players to register for the SUNA WINTER 2016 season. Hub Netball Club was founded in 1979 and is a strong participant within the Southern United Netball Association (SUNA). The Club prides itself on being a family club with the emphasis on participation and fun within a strong club structure. The Club relies on volunteers to fill the roles of coaches, committee members, team managers and umpires. These people come from families within the club. This handbook provides new and current players with information about registering to play, grading, fees and their structure and club policies. It is an expectation that this handbook will be read by parents/caregivers and players prior to committing to the new season. To register for this season each player must: PLAYER REGISTRATION Have paid ALL previous seasons fees in full including uniform payments. NO EXCEPTIONS Have completed an online Registration Form and paid the $60.00 grading fee on the nominated registration nights or via EFT by Sunday 7 February 2016. TRAINING & EXPECTATIONS Training is a very important part of playing netball at Club level; it promotes team bonding, shows commitment and builds skill levels. Coaches are volunteers who give up their free time, so it is an expectation that all players attend all training sessions as determined by their coach. Lateness, non-attendance and poor behaviour may result in less court time. A text message or phone call to your coach is expected and common courtesy if you are unable to attend training. This also applies to game nights. Repeated non communication of inability to train or play, or poor behaviour is unacceptable and may result in the player being removed from their team at the committee s discretion. Thank you for your support of these expectations Players may be placed in training squads, with training days, times etc. to be advised by coaches. Coaches will contact their players to inform them of their placement and advise them of the training details prior to the commencement of the season. Training Venue: Reynella Sport & Social Club, 1 Oval Road, Old Reynella. Please adhere to posted speed limits when entering complex and respect that this is a shared facility and other sporting clubs may be training. Your nominated coach will advise you of training day and time prior to the season commencing.

CLUB TRIALS & PLAYER POLICIES Each year we receive many queries regarding trials, team selection and positioning of players within a team. To assist players and parents in understanding this process the Club has developed the following policies and rules. It should be noted that the Committee is aware that not all situations fit within these policies and rules. Should a player or parent have a specific concern, an application in writing can be made to the Grading Committee at admin@hubnetballclub.com for consideration. No other approaches will be considered. It should be noted however that the decision of the Grading Committee is final. MAKE UP OF TEAMS POLICY 1. Teams will be picked on players netball ability/skills, with the balance of the team in mind along with their commitment to, and behaviour at training. 2. Players will be selected to play in their eligible age group (unless special selection occurs by the club s head coach). Should a player wish to play in another age group (eg Inters to play Seniors), they must trial in both groups. 3. Should players wish to move up to another age group and not play in their own, an application in writing to the grading committee via email must be considered before trials. 4. Special circumstances will be considered by the committee; submissions must be put in writing to admin@hubnetballclub.com 5. The optimum number of players in a team will be nine. 6. At club level teams are selected on player ability and equally important, team balance, and will be determined by the Grading Committee. Friendship groups are not considered.

CODE OF CONDUCT Players Code of Behaviour Learn the rules of the game and play by them at all times. Never argue with a club official. If you have a disagreement, contact a committee member. Verbal abuse of Umpires or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport. Work hard on your own game and play your part in the team effort. Be reasonable in your demands of fellow players and be self-disciplined - stay in control of yourself always. Always co-operate with those on your team. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are your team or the other team. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Co-operate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Accept the decision of the Coach as to team selection and placement. Remain highly supportive to the team whether playing or not. Parents Code of Behaviour Do not force an unwilling child to participate in sports. Focus upon the child s efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. Teach children that an honest effort is as important as Victory. Encourage them always to play by the rules. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake. Remember children are involved in organised sports for their enjoyment not yours. They learn best by example. If you disagree with the coach or team official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question the official s judgment and honesty in public. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children s sporting activities. Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches and other officials. Applaud all good play by both teams. Respect you teams opponents, without them there would be no game. Spectators Code of Behaviour Children play organised sport for fun. They are not playing for the entertainment of spectators only, nor are they professionals. Applaud good plays by your own team and the visiting team. Respect the Umpires decision. Be on your best behaviour. Don t use profane language or harass players, coaches or officials. Recognise the value of volunteer coaches. Umpires learn from them, adjust to their decision, we need them, so be nice. Coaches have a whole team to consider not just one player so listen. Simply treat others the way you would like to be treated and THINK before you act. Understand that many umpires may be junior or trainee umpires and should be encouraged rather than abused.

SUNA WEATHER POLICY Never assume a game is cancelled. Team Coaches will advise players of cancellations. If in doubt check the SUNA website www.sunanetball.asn.au - please do not call SUNA. UNIFORMS The following items are compulsory uniform requirements for all players (all prices are subject to change). 8&U / 11&U Polo Shirts Pleated Skirts 13&U / 15&U / 17&U / Seniors Dress & boy leg shorts General Apparel Socks Warm up Polo Shirts Warm up Jackets Hoodies $30.00 $25.00 $125.00 $12.00 $50.00 $50.00 $50.00 Some second hand uniform stock is available. TEAM MANAGERS Due to the increasing demands on the Club Committee and Coaches, it is essential for all teams to appoint a Team Manager. If there is no parent within the team willing to take on this position, the duty will be rotated between parents and will be compulsory. The role of the Team Manager is to relieve the coach of general administrative responsibilities including (but not limited to): 1. Collection of game tickets 2. Delegating scorers 3. Delegating injury carers 4. Arranging best player and runner up voting (as instructed by the coach) 5. Delegating time keepers as required 6.
