SUNSHINE COAST JAZZ CLUB INC. JANUARY 2018 I 2 DINING, DRIVING and OTHER INFORMATION The Club has been advised that if you are wishing to dine prior to the show you will need to order and pay for your meal downstairs. The Staff will deliver your meal to your table. You can also order a bottomless cup of coffee while downstairs to be used at the coffee station upstairs. When members are booking with Carlyn for an event they are requested only to use the mobile number 0427 782 960. The Committee have been advised that some members are having a problem finding parking when they attend our events at the Caloundra Power Boat Club. Please find below a map that may help - members may find parking in the Esplanade which is just a short walk to the Club. When driving along Landsborough Parade heading south turn left into Monash Street then turn right into The Esplanade. Another option is the Caloundra Power Boat Club offers a Courtesy Bus. The Courtesy Bus services the local area north to Kawana Bowls Club and South to Corbould Park - For bookings call: 5492 1444 - the bus has a capacity of 20 and leaves every 1/2 hour on the hour.

SUNSHINE COAST JAZZ CLUB INC. JANUARY 2018 I 3 RED SOX REPORT Following a fall in November, and injuries sustained, this old Jazzer was confined to quarters for a spell and missed the Christmas Party but you can t keep an old Jazzer down, and am happy to report all is now good and I have been out and about sussing out bands to bring you the best of the best in 2018 some are well known favourites, with a surprise here and there, to blow you away. I recently popped down to Gold Coast for a quick look at the Summer Jazz Festival presented by Gold Coast Jazz Club, at Southport Bowls Club which featured Andy Firth s Nova Swing Band, Peter Uppman Band and the Gold Coast Big Band what a lineup! Our coming gigs will feature themes such as Me and My Chauffer in February Valentine Day theme - so make sure you bring your sweetie! That s all for now so See you later Alligator! Red Sox. President JULIE S REVIEW Happy New Year to all Jazz friends. I hope that the Festive Season was a happy one for you and now you are looking forward to 2018 Our Christmas party with Caxton Street Jazz (Band at the Power Boat Club) was a great success with those attending telling us how much they enjoyed the dressing up 1920 s style as well as the Xmas style some great outfits were to be seen as a result, your Management Committee have taken this on board and will look to bring special themes to our gigs for more fun and your enjoyment. Very popular too, were the small favour boxes of chocolates in the shape of little red hats for all. We have now purchased our own sets of sparkly hats as centerpieces silver, black and red these are for decorations and not to go walking please, as we do want to be able to re-use them to add to the ambiance of events. (I think I may have misled some about this.) These hats join other touches to Jazz Up the look! Your committee are working hard and so very well together, to enrich your Jazz experiences and with Ted now back on deck, we are looking forward to some exciting gigs. There have been a few hurdles to overcome but we now feel it is all in hand, running very smoothly, and hope that when you see what has been achieved since the last Annual General Meeting you will be happy with the results. In past years, the Club has run to overdue with the AGM so this year we intend delivering a big surprise to Office of Fair Trading by submitting our Annual report early. With this in mind, you will shortly receive notice of the AGM to be held in the near future, along with all the relevant paperwork please do

SUNSHINE COAST JAZZ CLUB INC. JANUARY 2018 I 4 read it and support it by coming along to the AGM at least. It will be held on a Gig Day for your convenience. I am sure you will join with us in wishing Ted a (belated) VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY for 13 January a little bird told me that he may have received his OBE!! CONGRATULATIONS are certainly in order he sure has kept that under his hat!. That s all from me for now and I look forward to catching up at our Gigs. Cheers Julie COMING GIGS: Sundays 2pm - 4.30 pm 18 February Power Boat Club ME AND MY CHAEUFFER Valentines Day 18 March Currimundi Hotel DORIAN MODE - Sinatra Tribute 15 April Power Boat Club BRAD LEVER & IAN MCKAY
