Bye mom! We said. Carly and I were going to the park to practice playing soccer. And of course Michelle had to tag along to meet her friend, Ava. Why does she always have to come? Anyway, Carly and I have our championship soccer game tomorrow! We stopped at Carly s house to pick her up. I rang the doorbell. "I ll be right there, guys! she shouted. I m just getting the ball! Carly came outside holding the soccer ball. 2
Let s go! We ran all the way to the park while Michelle and Ava were being slowpokes. We wanted to get in as much practice as possible. When we got there, we headed straight for the soccer field. We started playing when all of a sudden Carly tripped over the ball and started crying.
Are you okay?! I asked running over to her, but I couldn't stop myself and I tripped over her! I started crying, too. MICHELLE!!!!! I shouted. She looked in our direction. Now I don t really regret Michelle coming with us. If she didn't come I wouldn't be able to contact mom! Don t worry! I ll call mom! She replied.
We got to the doctor a half an hour later and Carly and I were still crying. Our parents brought us inside the doctor s office. The doctor brought us into the x- ray room right away. We stood behind the x-ray machine and the doctor took a picture of where we injured ourselves and then he left the room. We waited for the doctor for about 10 minutes (which felt like forever) and he finally came back in.
I have the report the doctor said. Carly s left foot is broken and Hailey s right leg is fractured. No sports or climbing girls. Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! We have to play in our championship soccer game tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! I shouted. We ve been practicing so much!! I'm sorry girls, but doctor s orders. Although Carly and I felt like the most disappointed people in the world, we couldn t argue with that!
That night I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep. All I was thinking about was how I was NOT playing in my game tomorrow! (and my broken leg!)
I m not going, I m not going, I m not going! It is the day of the big game and I am SO upset! I walked into the kitchen for breakfast Hi sweetie! Mom said Are you ready for the big game?!" What s the point? It's not like I can play. Mom gave me a look. Fine I'll go! I got in the car with my mom, dad, and Michelle and we started heading to the soccer field.
This is horrible!!!! I complained. Don't worry, sweetie. mom said. You'll be ok. She winked at me and gave me a smirk. We arrived at the soccer field and then I spotted Carly. I hobbled over to her with my crutches. Hey, Carly how's your foot? I asked. It's still hurts. she replied. How's your leg? I reply: It's ok. Coach came over to us and leaned down and whispered something to the both of us... And a huge grin spread across my face...
The game began and our team, The Tigers, dashed across the field dribbling and passing the ball. They scored! I spotted Michelle and mom on the bleachers. As I was walking by, I overheard Michelle ask mom: Where is Hailey? Mom shrugged with a knowingly smile on her face. Then, two mascots came out on the field and cheering for our team into their megaphones. We are terrifying, we are tough, we are the terrific tigers!!
2 hours later, the game ended. The Tigers had lost 7-4 but it still was a great game. Carly and I threw off our fake mascot masks and started cheering really loud! There was a short silence. Everyone was looking at Carly and me shocked to see that we were the mascots (except my mom and coach). After the short silence came to an end, everyone started cheering for us!!!! The past 2 days, I was pumped up and let down, but from this day on, I realized that things don't always go your way. You just have to go with the flow.

Hailey and Carly have their champion soccer game tomorrow! But what happens when they go to the park to practice playing the day before the big game? At first, they were pumped up, now they are let down...
