LOCATION The World Cup takes place in Liberec, 110 km from the capital city of Prague and the Prague International Airport Ruzyně. The city of Liberec located in the north of the Czech Republic near the Germany and Poland borders is the centre of the Liberec Region that has more than one hundred thousand inhabitants. COMPETITIONS Competition Rules The Competition Rules for IOF Foot Orienteering Events, valid from 1 March 2011 are applied. Participation restrictions, classes and qualification are in compliance with the Special Rules for 2011 World Cup in Orienteering. Terrain Broken terrain in a hilly spruce forest with many valleys and ridges. The terrain offers a variety of details which are the vestiges of former mining activities. Granite stones, cliffs and boulders cover the whole area in a variable concentration creating stone labyrinths in some locations. Valleys are characterized by streams and marshes. The whole competition area is covered with a network of forest roads and paths. Visibility and runnability is generally very good, limited only by young forest 3
which covers app. 20% of the area. In peripheral parts of the forest areas with the seasonal vegetation can occur. Since on Saturday the World Cup and the Public competitions have the common competition area, on Sunday there may appear on Sunday smaller tracks created by runners of Public competition. For Long Distance competition on Sunday the SI- Cards 6 or SI-Cards 9 are necessary. The competitors may use their own SI-Cards or SI-Cards rented at the registration. GPS tracking system GPS tracking system will be used in both competitions. Selected runners (on Saturday about 20 first runners according to the World Cup ranking, on Sunday 20 first runners according to Saturday results) have to wear GPS transmitters. 4

Final (nominal) entries For the final entries use the NOMINAL ENTRY FORM published on the web page and send it by email to info@owcliberec2011.cz no later than 4 September 2011. Changes in Nominal Entries have to be done no later than 12:00 Friday, 23 September 2011. TRANSPORT On request, the organizers can provide transport from accommodation sites to Competition centre. VISA PERMITS For the list of states whose citizens are required to have visa to enter the Czech Republic, check the official site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic at www.mzv.cz. Visas have to be applied for at local Czech Embassies. 13. LOCAL WEATHER CONDITIONS The weather in September in Liberec Region is usually mild but rather wet and it can be also cold. The average temperature at the end of September is around 15 C during the day and 5 C at night. 14.. PUBLIC COMPETITIONS National Competitions will be organized after the World Cup 2011 in the same Competition Area. For more information check www.owcliberec2011.cz. 15. MEDIA ACCREDITATION Media representatives are welcome to the World Cup in Liberec 2011. For the accreditation use the Entry FORM for media representatives published on www.owcliberec2011.cz and send it by email to info@owcliberec2011.cz by 18 September. Media representatives are kindly requested to check in for accreditation at the Event Office upon arrival. Personal ID card with personal dates will be handed out at accreditation. All accredited persons must wear their ID cards at all relevant times (it must be presented for access to permitted zones etc.). 14.
