Passing with Speed, Agility & Quickness Split players into 4 groups. First player in line passes ball across through the cones as shown. Players pass back and forth in two touches. One player has passed the ball they move through the cones on the right using an SAQ exercise and join the line opposite. Receiving skills Weight and accuracy of pass Quality of footwork through ladder Right foot only Left foot only Receive with one foot and pass with other 3 touches before passing One touch passing Speed, Agility & Quickness Players pass the ball around the outside of the square. Once player has played a pass they move through a ladder in the direction they played the pass and join the next line. (use cones if ladders not available) Receiving skills Weight and accuracy of pass Quality of footwork through ladder Pass ball in opposite direction Play a give and go around the cone. 2v1 Circuit Set out area as show. As box 15x15 yards. Have one defender start on each central line. Game starts with one red passing to the other to then attack. The reds try and get the ball past the middle line into the second box to score past the GK. Defender can t go back into box with the GK in. If defender wins the ball they try dribble over start line. Weight & accuracy of passes First touch into next box? Beat defender 1v1? Pass to team mate to shoot? Defending Body shape Force away from goal Rotate defenders. Team to score the most points wins. Play so each pair defends once. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Both teams play 1-3-1-3-1 formation. Play 6v6/7v7/8v8 if you don t have enough numbers for 9v9. Scan field to know next pass Weight and accuracy of passes. Week 1 - Passing & Receiving Skills

Passing & Awareness Players at A pass alternately to players at B and then follow their pass, player receiving at B has a good first touch and runs forwards with the ball to lay off to the players at A. B becomes A and vica versa. For A - Head up, weight of pass, accuracy, positive run forwards For B - Check behind the pole to simulate real game defender, scan before receiving, part of the body to receive with, positive first touch to travel with the ball quickly. Player who passes into center now moves into middle while player who passes out replaces player they pass too. Rondo with SAQ Have 2-3 players behind each set of cones. 1 player from each line move through the cones with fast footwork into the square. Play 3 v 1 with the defender the player coming through the blue cones. Rotate to net set of cones once defender clears the ball from the box. Quality of foot work through cones Quality of one touch play Awareness of next pass Take a touch to draw defender close then pas past them. 2 touch play inside the box 1 touch play inside the box Week 2 - Passing & Receiving Skills

Forward Passing 2 teams play inside area with one team used as target players. 2 middle teams combine and keep possession for as long as possible using outside men and neutral player as overload. Outside player objective to find the spare player. Player awareness on the ball. Move the ball quickly, looking for the spare player. Always be available when in possession. Same as before but end players only on one touch they can now pass to opposite end player as an extra support player. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Both teams play 1-3-1-3-1 formation. Play 6v6/7v7/8v8 if you don t have enough numbers for 9v9. Scan field to know next pass Weight and accuracy of passes. Week 2 - Passing & Receiving Skills

Shielding & Receiving Groups of 5 around a 10x10, One player works in the middle around tall cone which acts as a distraction. 2 balls with outside players who act as feeders to middle man. 1. Middle man plays 1 or 2 touch passing the ball out to any other player without a ball. What parts of body is the player going to use? Where is the next available pass? Does the player need to take an extra touch? Player who passes into center now moves into middle while player who passes out replaces player they pass too. Add defender in-place of cone and play 1v1 in middle area. 1 point for every successful pass to outside player 1v1 Turning Have 2 goals back to back inside a 15x15 yard area. Split players into two teams on either side of the area. Defending team pass ball through the middle of the goals to the attacking team. Attacking player tries to score in either goal. Defending player tries to win the ball and score in either goal. Get to ball quick Slow feet on approach Half turn to move feet quick Touch tight Aggressive to win ball Play 2v2. Join two areas and play 2v2. Week 3 - Ball Control, Shielding & 1v1 Defending

Small Sided Game Play 4v4. Teams defend two goals and attack two goals. Set up 2-3 fields if large numbers. Have spare balls on the side of the field to keep the game flowing. Players can pass or dribble the ball back into play. Get to ball quick Slow feet on approach Half turn to move feet quick Touch tight Aggressive to win ball Progression Give each team two different goals to attack. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. 1v1s Half group to each box. Players On all four sides of the square. Players are playing one v one with the player across from them, Players marked A will play a 1v1 first. The ball is played from the defender across to attacker. The attacker now must beat the man and run the ball across the line to score. As soon as the ball is out of play, B go. Get to ball quick Slow feet on approach Half turn to move feet quick Touch tight Aggressive to win ball Take out middle zone and play 2v2. 1v1 A dribbles the ball between the cones and steps on the ball for B,then A sprints around the far cone to give chase to B. B takes possession of the stopped ball and speed dribbles to try to penetrate the 4 yd shooting zone in front of the three balls at the opposite end of the grid to shoot and knock a ball off. Get to ball quick Slow feet on approach Half turn to move feet quick Touch tight Aggressive to win ball Move start position of attacker give defender less recovery distance. Week 4 - Ball Control, Shielding & 1v1 Defending

Technical Passing 20x20 Yard Area. 3 Teams of 4 Players. One Team spread into the Four Corners, Inside the Area not Outside. Can move a Couple of Yards either way. The other Two Teams Inside the Area. When the other team wins possession they try to connect their pass. Keep Possession of the Ball. 6 passes = 1 Goal Quality Passing and Control. Don t Block Lines into the Corner Players. Try to be Positive and Play Forwards with Split Passes. Can t go back to same corner player twice in a row. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Get to ball quick Slow feet on approach Half turn to move feet quick Touch tight Aggressive to win ball Week 4 - Ball Control, Shielding & 1v1 Defending

Technical Passing & Dribbling Players work in groups of 4. 2 players on a cone with a ball, 2 players in central area. Central player checks out of middle zone to get a ball from team mate and dribbles to an outside cone. Player who passed ball moves into central area. Receiving skills Move into most space to receive Awareness of free cone Awareness of traffic Can only dribble to cone without another player from your team on it Must dribble through central area. Combination with 1st passer before turning to dribble 2v1 Circuit Set field out as shown, each zone 12x10 yards. 1 defender in each zone. Defenders are restricted to zone. 2 attackers enter the area and try and get past the 2 defenders into the end zone to score. Attackers move to next zone once ball is out of play or goal is scored. If defenders win the ball they try and dribble to start line to gain a point. Attack at speed Change speed or direction to beat defender. Pass or dribble Combination play Rotate defenders. 1st time finish inside end zone Week 5 - Turning, Dribbling & 1v1 Attacking

4 Box Passing Game Split players into 2 teams. 5v5/6v6/7v7. Teams score a point by passing to a team mate inside one of the corner boxes. Only 1 player can enter a box and player must leave the box once they have passed out of the box. Pass or dribble Timing of movement into open box Early pass into box. Point is now scored when ball is passed into a team mate in a box and then back into the area to a team mate. Point for getting to 2 boxes in a row. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Both teams play 1-3-1-3-1 formation. Play 6v6/7v7/8v8 if you don t have enough numbers for 9v9. Attack at speed Change speed or direction to beat defender. Pass or dribble Combination play Week 5 - Turning, Dribbling & 1v1 Attacking

Turning Have 2-3 players in each line. First player dribbles out to the middle cone, getting the ball as close to the cone as possible before using the sole of their foot to turn and dribble back to the next player in line. If turn is performed with right foot next turn must be with left foot. Keep Ball Close Accelerate after turn Drag back turn Inside hook Outside hook Stop Turn Cryuff Turn Step over turn 1v1 Turning. Red attacks diagonally to try to beat the white and score in the goal. Cant shoot until into the shooting zone. Once shot has been taken next white attacker can attack opposite goal. Red attacker now becomes defender. Attack at speed Positive touch into space Change of speed or direction to beat defender Use move to beat defender Quick recovery as defender. If attacker can t score in the goal diagonally opposite they can turn and attack other goal. Week 6 - Turning, Dribbling & 1v1 Attacking

4 Corner Goal Game 4v4/5v5/6v6. Have a goal in each corner of the area. Play with wide field. Each team attacks 2 goals and defends 2 goals. Team score by dribbling through the coned goals. Keep Ball Close Accelerate after turning Attack open goal. Correct turn to get away from pressure. Teams can score in any of the 4 goals. First team to score in all 4 goals win. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Both teams play 1-3-1-3-1 formation. Play 6v6/7v7/8v8 if you don t have enough numbers for 9v9. Attack at speed Change speed or direction to beat defender. Pass or dribble Combination play Week 6 - Turning, Dribbling & 1v1 Attacking

Technical Practice Ball is passed into central player who receives and passes out to the right. Players follow passes. Friendly passes to help team mate Good first touch into space Keep ball close when dribbling Play to the left Players turn, dribble through the square and pass to line opposite. Add defender in central square to apply pressure. Turning to Shoot 1v1 Takes play in the shaded area, player can leave the shaded when 3 turns have been completed. If the ball leaves the area play is dead. A - Dribbles into the shaded area to try and make three turns with the ball, then can progress to goal. B - Once player as A enters the area they come into defend,if B gains possession they have same challenge. 3v3 Game A 3v3 scrimmage in a field 36 by 36 yards. White and Red are encouraged to shoot whenever possible as the field is small. Both teams can use the neutrals players on outside to give and go with. If team give up a goal they leave the field and new team join the game. Movement off the ball Quality of finish Decision Making: Pass, dribble, shoot or turn? If your team scores you stay on. Losing team moves off and next team enter the game. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Week 7 - Receiving to Turn & Shooting

Technical Practice Red pass to black and moves through ladders and hurdles to next cone. Black passes to yellow and follows pass. Yellow dribbles to red and stops ball. Quality of pass. Quality of footwork through equipment Now have central player receive and pass behind them to continue circuit through both exercises. How many balls can be moving? Front 3 Finishing A - Working on #11 position. #6 passes to #11. #11 dribbles at defender performs a move the right and shoots at goal from outside of the box. B - Working #7 position. #8 passes to #7. #7 dribbles at defender performs a move to the left and shoots at goal from outside of the box. C - Working #9 position. #6 or #8 (takes turn) passes to #9. #9 performs a Attack at speed Change of speed or direction to beat defender Use move to beat defender A2: #11 beats defender to the left and puts a cross into the box for #9, #7 and #8 B2: #7 beats defender to the right and puts a cross into the box for #9, #11 and #8 Week 8 - Receiving to Turn & Shooting

3v2 Attacking GK starts with the ball and distributes to either of the waiting wide players. They attack to create 3v2 to goal. If goal is scored GK gets ball and throws to wide players to attack opposite end. Players in wide areas must line up as shown, red, white, red, white. If defenders win possession they pass to their wide player and attack other way. Positive in possession Attack at speed Movements to drag defenders away Combinations to create shooting opportunities. Add in another attacker and defender into area to create 4v3. Small Sided Game Play 9v9. Both teams play 1-3-1-3-1 formation. Play 6v6/7v7/8v8 if you don t have enough numbers for 9v9. Movement off the ball Quality of finish Decision Making: Pass, dribble, shoot or turn? Week 8 - Receiving to Turn & Shooting

Running With The Ball Set out cones as shown with 15 yard gap between red cones. First player in line runs with the ball towards the opposite line before passing the ball through the gate to first player in other line. Receiving player repeats the same. Players join opposite line. Use laces to push ball into space. Take touch without breaking stride Big touch into space Challenge players to get to other side in 3 touches. The Chase Players now chase the opponent after passing the ball through the gate. Passing player must run around the tall cone and try and tag the player with the ball on the back before they pass the ball through the gap. Player rejoins the same line each time. 1 point each time they tag opponent. Positive touch into space Use laces to push ball forwards Take touch without breaking stride Big touch into space First team to 5 points wins. Week 9 - Running With The Ball & Shooting

Shooting Races Players dribble past the central cone and shoot for goal. Competition - First player to score gets a point for their team. Head up to see position of GK. Shoot for power or placement Close control when dribbling around the cone. Dribble around the central cone and shoot for the goal they start next too. Add GK. Small Sided Game Play 7v7. Both teams play 1-2-1-2-1 formation. Play 6v6/5v5 if you don t have enough numbers for 7v7. Exploit 1v1 situations with creative footwork & moves Progression First team to score in all 4 goals win. Attack space at speed with bigger touches. Week 9 - Running With The Ball & Shooting

Shooting Battle Player 1 dribbles into the box and shoots at goal. Once he shoots he must run back to he s goal and become the goalkeeper. As soon as the shot happens the next player in line for the other team (diagram white) can dribble into the box ready to shoot. The process repeats with that white player running back to his goal while the next member of Quality and technique of shot Awareness of goalkeeper Competition - Reds v white. Team with most goals after 5 minutes. Shooting Races First player from each team runs out, around the cone and gets a ball from the box. Player must dribble and shoot at the goal. Player leaves the ball in the goal and tags next player to go. First team to get all the balls in the goal wins. Use laces to strike ball Keep ball close to feet to allow shot. Right foot shot only Left foot shot only 5 toe taps before taking the ball out of the box. Week 10 - Running With The Ball & Shooting

Small Sided Game A dribbles and shoots for goal. B plays a give and go with A to shoot. As the give and go takes place C dribbles to the cone and crosses. A runs to front post, B curves run to back post and both attack cross. Play 3 mins and rotate groups. Head up to see position of GK. Shoot for power or placement Close control when dribbling around the cone. Progression Players v GK competition (Team 1 point per goal. GK one point per save) 3 for 3 game. Team 1 point for 3 goals GK 1 point for 3 saves. Small Sided Game Play 7v7. Both teams play 1-2-1-2-1 formation. Play 6v6/5v5 if you don t have enough numbers for 7v7.
